I'm able to alt-tab out of the game properly even on Windows 10 if I use TS-DDRAW. It depends on your graphics hardware as far as I can tell.
-
It still usually works, often works very well, and sometimes works better than anything else. Depends on your system.

A Linux user got the same error message in the following topic: http://cnc-comm.com/community/index.php?topic=4719.0 He also figured out how to fix it. Please note that since I'm running Windows, it's more or less impossible for me to provide support for Linux and Mac.

What about client.log? The CnCNet button is disabled if the client can't connect to the update server.
-
Lack of registration means that there's a very low barrier for entry though, which is part of the reason why CnCNet has got this popular to begin with. I'd rather make it so that if you use a registered nickname, you're forced to log in to the account, while with an unregistered nickname you're free to just connect to the lobby and play non-ladder games. That way you could prevent name thieving by simply registering your nickname, while no one would be forced to register.

A few questions about ladders, badges, clans, etc
Rampastring replied to aWarNoob1's topic in Red Alert 2
Not initially, but possibly some time after the ladder launches. See #1. Although I think I'd rather show a badge that represents the rank rather than points, considering that I don't want to overflow the player list with information. See #1. At least initially you'll need to host ranked games. Although I'd like to avoid people selecting only specific maps and game settings on the ladder, so I think the lobby for a ladder game is going to be somewhat more simple. /on would be easy to implement. Enabling chat between people in the lobby and people who are in-game is impossible. /p might be possible, depends on the guy who is developing the ladder (tahj). -
I didn't make the installer, I have nothing to do with it

Install .NET Framework 3.5. I should catch that error and show a custom message..

Multiplayer strategy discussion and your best multiplayer story.

The way to win all naval maps in YR I guess. -
Nah, any infantry, Nod doesn't have a suicide bomber in DTA. The passenger is mostly useful for carrying rocket infantry with a group of tanks, it's especially nice as a surprise element since people don't expect you to bring infantry in your MBTs. The enemy sees your 6 light tanks and brings 6 medium tanks to kill them, then you unload them and suddenly the medium tanks are getting destroyed by 6 light tanks and 6 rocket infantry. It's also used for engineer rushing, especially if Multi Engineer is disabled.
-
Play DTA. There the Nod light tank can carry one passenger
-
You cannot direct the client into another IRC server.
-
At least the TS spawner that I use in my TS package (as well as the DTA and TI spawners) reads Video.Windowed= from the [Video] section and runs in windowed mode if it's set.

I already have the auto-kick behaviour changed in the latest client version, I just haven't pushed the update to YR yet. You can expect to see the fix soon-ish.

The "what are you listening to now?" Topic!
Rampastring replied to SiRaLeX's topic in General Discussion
Power metal can be energizing if listened to every once in a while. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Chc6W0Lqvz0 -
Different preferences for the game speed are likely the biggest reason there. Nearly everyone agrees that the default speed (20 FPS?) of RA and TS is way too slow to be enjoyable, and most people play on 45 or 60 FPS. Then there's the difficulty factor in single player. Naturally, the slower the game speed, the easier a mission becomes. In other words, if a mission is too hard for you at 60 FPS, you can drop the game speed to make it easier. Another point is that the frame-based system of the game pretty much makes dynamic game speed necessary. If your system is too slow to run the game at 60 FPS, the game will slow down automatically. With that you might as well make the game speed configurable.

Make sure that the client isn't running when you edit the INI file

I doubt those videos are bringing more players to the games, they have barely any views and no one wants to look at his boobs anyway.
-
He makes videos to boost his own ego. If his videos are found on CnCNet's channel, then "why" is a good question though.

I have Windows 10 and I'm able to record full-screen gameplay with OBS while using the TS-DDRAW renderer. In OBS I need to use the AMD VCE encoder though, it doesn't seem to work otherwise.

Yes, the client has used .NET Framework 3.5 since an update late last month.

Red Alert 2 Classic mode has buildings it shouldn't
Rampastring replied to Chief's topic in Red Alert 2
This should be fixed now. -
Is more than 8 players possible? How about drop-in mid game?
Rampastring replied to fir3w0rx's topic in Red Alert 2
Nope, sorry. Black will never be available to the general public, because it's too confusing. I could make it possible to play as white though, but if I do that, I might as well enable the rest of the 30 colors (excluding black) as well. -
For some reason the game is exiting instantly as it is started. Open Task Manager and make sure that gamemd-spawn.exe isn't running in the process list. And yes, it should resolve the Skirmish issue as well.
