Yeah honestly I wonder if it irritate him. His favourite CnC game and his mod in general seems to be a bit.. quiet. Its very fortunate though he's wishing to work during his valueble time on clients for games he's not the biggest fan of, and that will forever be very appreciated!

Long live YR. I see RA1 is doing fantastic too (300+ online). its unfortunate I aint a fan of it, but good thing I am fan of the middle terrain, meaning YR has right now the second biggest user count, TS being lower (which I aint a fan of either) and TD (probably just too old of a game).

I don't know if game speed was need to be made faster as default. Literally every game plays it on fastest. Fortunately you can change it in game so in end I don't care and if a host forget it I'll just do that. But a lot see this as lag and quit the game, trust me it happened before.

What has changed in .64 and .65? Sorry for always asking since there's no notes :>

He talk about this beta I guess: http://ladder.cncnet.org/#/yr'>http://ladder.cncnet.org/#/yr / http://ladder.cncnet.org/#/ Shows points and win/losses.

Thanks for explanation! Hopefully they give time at some point to port it over, even minor polishing is very important for games ------ More differences (yeah, I am going through everything right now, even though I am not even that big fan of authentic RA2 over YR) -Allied Service Depot can sell units when you put them on repair in RA2. Doing so will make EVA say "Unit sold". This is not possible in CnCnet RA2 and has been 'patched' in YR 1.001. RA2: Ra2 CnCnet: YR 1.001 patch note: Never understood myself why only allied could do this (since if Soviet had it they had a kind of grinder like in YR but in RA2, which is kinda cool I guess), but in YR 1.001 they decided to strip the feature completely from the game. I don't know if they removed it from the game code. ----- EDIT: This is a bug in both authentic RA2 and CnCnet RA2 but all navel shipyards should be powered = no The reason to this is because the animation of navel shipyard get extremely buggy if you repair units with it while you're low on power. Now you may think 'but you can't repair units anymore this is good!' Here's the thing: you still can. This was fixed in YR by making it powered = no (so it still animates while you're low on power, thus not get buggy). I see this more as a bug than trying to be authentic, so I report it as such. Screenshot:

I get this 100% of the time and only in RA2 mode and never in CnCnet YR mode. Are you sure this is an original game bug? I have never seen it in authentic YR nor RA2, only in CnCnet RA2 mode. To add more into it when you put concripts into buildings they show up as 'purple' so basically all the icons are just swapped around it seems for units in buildings and units in other units (helis, transports, etc...) I mean its not that I don't believe you but I have just never had this bug in modes outside RA2 mode, and it also happens 100% of the time, always in RA2 mode.

More differences. Double posting on purpose so both posts get noticed. -Yuri makes a sound when you create him, this doesn't happen in authentic RA2 -Any kind of civilian car gets auto attacked in CnCnet RA2, this doesn't happen in authentic RA2 (mostly famous for the school bus trick where you silently drop units without notice of enemy, or ivans to create a bomb bus) This was made auto attack in authentic YR. I know a map (Extra Small) where a car from a crate doesn't auto fire, so this should still be possible in YR engine. -Putting units in Cloning vats makes a sound in CnCnet RA2, this doesn't happen in authentic RA2 Not sure if possible but maybe as bonus in RA2 mode change in ThemeMD the score music to match with RA2's (replace YR's completely may work?) or remove also YR's soundtrack in RA2mode and only enable RA2's. I love both soundtracks but this is for those that want it 'authentic' so badly. Same goes for loading theme (which is jank in original RA2) EDIT: Minor text fixes
-
Since people keep complain about authentic Ra2 yet refuses to report the differences, here's some few more minor things I noticed for ages but nobody reports it, visual related The visual for units in buildings and units are incorrect. Authentic Ra2 (Engineer, Gi, Tanya inside: CnCnet Ra2: Tanya is seen as blue dot, Gi red, and Engineer the green icon Authentic YR has same as authentic Ra2 ---------- For buildings there's similar issue: Authentic RA2 (all units in building show green): CnCnet Ra2: Green icon but not the authentic RA2 one YR (with Gi's inside): (For Concripts it show red, for Initiate it show purple) I don't really care if it will be fixed to how YR does it or how authentic RA2 does it, but its wrong now eitherway in CncNet RA2 These bugs exist since I've been started here (over a year ago) but never bothered (like other I guess) to report it. If people want authentic RA2 so badly they really should report these.

Was nice to see 238+ YR players online yesterday Hopefully I have time soon again to play too. Let's go to 300!
-
Is Lost Temple the literal name of the map? I can look if I got it since I still got all the maps from when I played on xwis.
-
I guess user friendly is a better term. A casual user installs Ra2, play, go to internet, go to create an account and find out nothing works but Ra2 keep saying 'connecting'. One would think the game is too old and think the multiplayer mode is discontinued, one may research and find out you need make an account at XWIS even though there's still a (non functional) create account inside the game UI. Is it complicated once you figured it out? No, but it surely isn't user friendly.
-
On XWIS, you need to first register, and then spend an RA2 serial to make a nick. Beats CnCNet's free entry to anyone wanting to pose as you. If you find simple registration to be hard, I have some bad news for you. XWIS's way is complicated (since you can't make an account within the game anymore AFAIK), but CnCnet's way is obviously still not good either (lack of registration; everyone can impersonate...). The fact you can't make an account anymore on xwis within the game without the game stating so is lack of user friendly and like Alex says make things very difficult for a casual to just start. All CnCnet need is like every online game: A simple registration system. However, I can expect people to steal nicks now when that get implemented due to how long CnCnet is up now with the current system, so I wonder how that will be handled... Wasn't the auto SS system an external program that runs in the background? Same for that game spy thing that shows how the whole game went? Pretty sure people need run both in background when they report cheaters, etc... And if you don't run auto SS in ladder games you'll be banned.
-
100% agree on the bolt part. The reason XWIS dies is not because of people getting banned. Its dying because they are locked in WOL and can't develop further, thus people eventually lose interest. People can cheat without getting recon'd, etc. The only thing XWIS is still standing on is 'authentic' RA2 and Ladders, where ladders is coming soon too in CnCnet CncNet is improving and growing because everyone can play it, cheaters get banned, there's way less delay, and assholes like a 35 year old guy that spam other get removed from the game. If you really think that immature people getting removed will kill CnCnet you're an idiot. The screenshots (assuming they are all you) makes me very glad you got banned. Good bye. EDIT: 200 online currently in YR. So much for it dying.

2.60 add sending of silent ladder stats for debugging. 2.61 fix game lobby text line height. 2.62 remove debug message left in game lobby. Dunno if you need a reminder but the ready icons in waiting room lobby still disappear if you max your client size and make it small again.
-
The only frowned upon tactics are quitting or cheating. The other that cry because you did x or y are just upset they couldn't defend themselves properly from x or y. If you win and someone cry I would feel extra victorious. Even I cry here and there, but they are never serious. Good game is good game, and sometimes frustration slips through.
-
What was changed in 2.60, 2.61, 2.62?

I am pretty sure by 'Cash Bonus' they refer to fact you grind someone's unit, which means you indeed gain a cash bonus from someone else's unit, not a cash bonus from the original cost, or else Soviet captured units (since they say capture) should give a bonus too, or once again it makes no sense like now. If I had to truly guess the reason why Spy, Tanya etc are higher is because they did cost that much during pre-release/beta, and when they altered the cost they never changed the grind amount, which probably end up making the grind amount (when tossing 2 into grinder) more than 50%, or indeed never had in mind that someone could get both MCV's. Regardless, its fixed in YR (by making it 50%), which means they acknowledged the issues that can happen if one would make a vats and build units to than send it to Grinder when owning more MCV's. P.S: Tanks send to grinder still gives 100% (as far as I know), so they really only changed this for infantries, further proving to me they saw it as an exploit you could get unlimited money when owning both MCV's.
-
What a speed! Thank you so much for taking care of the exploit in less than a day, wish I reported it much sooner (since was aware of it since awhile). I will test everything when I've got the time to play to verify if everything is fixed now related to grinding and Ra2mode.
-
Yeah I've just checked YR and a grinder seems to always give 50% of the units cost (checked infantry since that's relevant to the issue), which means 50% x2 = 100%. That's totally fine and can't be exploited. I know Ra2mode is suppose to replicate Ra2 but hopefully the fix they made for YR regarding grinding units can be applied to Ra2mode so people no longer ruin decent long games by doing the said exploit (that's why my post was angry to begin with, many games were already (which is my opinion) ruined by this). Thanks in advance and glad Iran supports a fix for this. Yeah I am aware its crated games mostly ruined, and that's the type of games I play here and there, so yeah... In 'competitive' games this is most likely not going to occur, but still should be fixed regardless.
-
I would understand that but don't you think its a bit iffy someone can.. like keep make units and sent them to the vats? This seems to not work with any Soviet unit, just Allied ones... which makes no sense if it was to be intentional it should work for Soviet units too. Anyway, I've just checked Ra2 and its indeed also a thing there. Hmph. Sounds to me like a super dodgy mechanic. This basically makes someone in Ra2 mode with both MCV's automatic win since they can just mass make units > send to vats > repeat (or make more barracks if it goes too slow).
-
Play RA2 mode, get Sov + Allied, create spies and grind them. You will get more than 50%, aka unlimited money. Demonstration in screenshots (no miners are mining..): 1000 money: I create a spy: I toss them in the vats: Woo 800 bonus. Repeat, unlimited money. EDIT: Let me check if this is also a thing in authentic RA2. EDIT2: For CnCnet this can be exploited with every single Allied unit.
-
Please for the love of god get rid of the Cloning vats 'grind' ability. People use it for the longest time now to put spies in it for unlimited money once someone got a second MCV. Nobody ever used the grind ability of the cloning vats without the meaning to exploit it for unlimited money. Yes in original RA2 you could grind units with it but right now its explotable and totally destroys RA2 mode, and nobody used it ever in its original way but unlimited money. EDIT: I am not sure if Spies are the only units you can make unlimited money with it, but seems like everyone use Spies to mass grind for extra money. EDIT 2: This is only in RA2 mode which is why I've bumped this topic.

Every building has their range indeed; saw mod maps before where you could build dumb buildings in unlimited range. Also a small tip but for whatever reason Gap Generator is the only defensive building (a building with 1 space) where you can build something near it. Don't know why and if it was done on purpose (by Westwood), but seeing you say you're new it may help you.

Go to Yuri MCV in rulesmd and change CrateGoodie=yes to no
