Since this map proved to be quite popular ( here and other places ) and got the most constructive criticism I decided to try and make it better. I'd like to hear your thoughts on the changes. Changes: More ore ( almost 2x more), less gems ( almost cut in half ), removed 6 garrisons ( 4 at the bottom, 2 at the top ), changed some cliffs to give it a more natural feel, but I couldn't change much without destroying whole sections of the map. Either it can't be done any other way or my skill isn't quite there yet. Will upload map when there are no more suggestions

Thanks! It's a nice try for a first map IMO. The new ones are much better tho, again IMO

Quality over quantity, but quantity brings practice and practice brings quality That being said your sentiment is noted!

Thank you both for the tips. I'll try and implement them in future maps ( Tho I quite like the "Farlake" map and I might update it with your suggestions)! Hopefully you'll try out the maps too! Cheers, Tkragon

These is quite common, I play quite a lot and I see many players playing the same one or max two maps over and over again. And they get really good at those maps. While I find it frustrating that I can't beat them on those maps at the same time it presents a good challenge to get better and try again. I also find it quite funny how these same players when playing another map can be quite easily beat. For example I've played this one player, on the map he always plays, over 30 times winning not once. One day I actually convinced him to change the map for just one game. I won in less than three minutes and he changed the map right back. I mean how can there be such a difference for a player to go from unbeatable to easily beatable just because of the map. tl;dr This happens a lot, it should be a challenge & it's not trolling, just people playing the game, the way they want to play it. In FFA 2v1 happens all the time. It's FFA, so everyone just looks after themselves and what is good for them. If attacking a player that is already under attack is good for them, they should do that. However I have come across two players playing a Sedona FFA and spying each other and playing 2v1 against everyone in the game. And when they defeated everyone else, they didn't fight each other, they just quit ( I even have a video of that). Now that is the only 2v1 I condemn and wish something could be done about it. I have gone trough stretches of days where I couldn't get a good game going for the reasons you listed. And I was hosting most of the games. But I'm glad to say it was just stretch. So like people before me said. Get to know people, get to know their nicknames ( most don't change it that often ) and you'll probably get a good idea what kind of match you're in for before the start. Good luck!

After making my first map last week I found it fun to make maps. So here are another six I've made since! I don't plan to change these maps much anymore, but any constructive criticism is welcomed and might be used in future maps. Each map contains a Easter Egg. A Cowboy named "Tkragon". That's a signature of sorts I decided to use on my maps Download link - Tkragon map pack.rar 1. Where the Corn Grows (2-6) A primarily 3v3 map. The map is divided into three parts. Teams start on the far left and far right. Each starting position has a Tech Oil Derrick nearby. There are 6 Tech Buildings in the middle part of the map ( 2x Tech Power Plant, 2x Tech Airport,2x Tech Machine Shop ). Each tech building is relatively close to one of the starting positions and has a gem patch next to it. The town in the middle has a large gem patch so seizing control of the town is recommended if the game goes long. Reinforcement ready! 2. What Lurks in the Water (2) A 1v1 map. Each player starts on his own small island with some gems, ore and an Oil Derrick. The resources on the starting island are low, so the players need to expand their reach beyond the starting island. There are numerous small islands on the map and one larger that contains a gem patch and two small ore patches. This island is a hot zone due to it's resources and each player needs to expand here as soon as possible to keep their economy going. Each players also has three additional Oil Derricks on his side of the map. These oils are bit away from the starting & main island so they are exposed to air and naval attacks and need to be defended! Hush! They may be near! 3. Urban Flower - Extra small (2-4) This is an Extra small, but not really that small map! It can be played by up to 4 players. It's a what you see, is what you get kind of map. Meaning there are no modifications. No money from power plants or refineries. The only source of credits are the ore & gem patches and the Oil Derrics. The resources are quite limited so the players need to fight for the gems and build their bases & units carefully or they'll ran out of money quickly. Ore processors working! 4. Troll Vest - Extra Small (2-8) Another Extra small map, that isn't really that small. This map can be played 2-8 players, but it's preferred that all eight starting positions are filled. Every starting position has two Tech Derricks that provide credits ( slightly faster/slightly more than a normal Oil Derrick ). These should be protected at all costs as they're the only resource provider on the map. If there aren't 8 players on the map, the control of the "un-owned" Oil Derricks is crucial. The map is named after an oil field in Norway, for those who are wondering what's up with the trolls and their vests. I found the name funny so I used it. I've got the knowledge! 5. Land of Ice - Extra small (2- Last of the extra small maps in this map pack. This one is truly small unlike the other two. Money is provided by your Construction yard, so protect it even more than you normally would. You only have one Construction yard and you cannot build another MCV ( you can only get extra ones from crates if they're turned on ). Because of the importance of the Construction Yard on this map it has 3x times the HP & it cannot be captured by Engineers or Mind Controled by Yuri Prime. It also provides an extra 100 units of power. Ready for deployment! 6. Farlake (2) Farlake is a rather large map for a 1v1 but it provides multiple ways to defeat your opponent. Starting points are positioned at the top and the bottom. On the left side of the map each player has an Oil Derrick that is close to a canyon filled with gems. This canyon can become a true war-zone when players fight over the riches inside. Just be careful how you build inside the canyon or your units might get stuck or take some unfortunate way to get to and from the gem field. To the right of the canyon there's a sneaky path next to the lake, going from one base to another. The lake provides the opportunity for some naval warfare and can give the player a decent advantage if he's willing to spend the credits for navy. To the right of the lake we have a large harbor with a small town next to it. The harbor has gems in the middle to be fought over. The buildings makes it easier to defend your miners, or it can make it difficult for the other player to access the gems. Good luck commander!

I respect your opinion but I think it kind of looks cool ( and other people have said so as well ). I only messed up because I used dark grass as the main "color" and the clifs are only in bright grass "color" . So there are weird spots around the cliff rocks

I made my first map. It's a YR 2v2 map, but can be played 1v1. Each starting position has an ore and a gem patch nearby ( positions up top have gems closer while the lower ones a bit away ). There are two more gem patches up top for each team. On the main island at the bottom there is an Tech Oil Derrick. The map was inspired by the lovely nature we have here in Slovenia . p.s.: The forests are hiding an Easter egg of sorts Constructive criticism is welcomed! The version I'm sharing is 1.1 that includes some changes that people suggested when we were testing the 1.0 version. tkragon's map 1.1 ( 2-4 ) .map Version 1.0 that may be circulating CnCNet has a large gem patch instead of the Oil Derrick. When play-testing we found out that the gem patch was to close to the lower right starting position, so I removed the gems, replaced them with the Oil & moved the left bottom starting position a bit closer to the middle.

1. At that time the point is the power drain of the Psychic Tower not the amount of the power provided by the BioReactor. And that is on display as I show the power drain before the placement and after. 2. You're right! That chaos drone build speed was an editing mistake on my part. I should have triple checked instead of just double checked before rendering & publishing. I did point out that mistake in the description of the video as soon as I caught it. 3. It was the best way I could show the extra health mastermind has now, without asking for help from another player as I cannot Mind Control my own units from what I know. While I agree it's not how that extra health was meant it still shows there is extra health. About you still recommending reading over the video: 1. My video isn't meant to replace the change log. I choose my words poorly in my original post. 2. “A reader lives a thousand lives before he dies, said Jojen. The man who never reads lives only one.” Cheers!

I made a video containing these changes. For those who prefer watching a video over reading the change log. Link Hope you don't mind using the text from the change-log.

It's not a modded map, that what makes me think it's a glitch/bug. An interesting one at that

Last night I've been playing RA2 on CnCNet the game itself wasn't anything to write home about when I tried to repack my mcv to crush a few GIs. Then something really strange happened! My MCV disappeared! Has anyone else had anything similar happen? This is a second bug I've encountered as eariler this year I had another bug where my slave miner hit one of its slaves and exploded. Video of the disappearing MCV: https://youtu.be/2AesOszWG30?t=500 Video of the exploding Slave miner: https://youtu.be/bilUfcD-zyE?t=147

When will you get 4K or 8K patch of video released?
Tkragon replied to PS4=PRO's topic in Red Alert 2
Wow I didn't see this before ? While I can't imagine playing at 4K or at 8K . At best it'd take quite some time to get used to. It does however seem like a perfect way to observe games. You can see everything with little to no scrolling. -
Great map, lots of fun. It would have helped to read this before playing Here's my game with you: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M_F3KvyQRDA

I played it once and it was quite fun, although I didn't know what the changes to the map were. This helps

I uploaded a video for you guys, I figured a bit of self promotion doesn't hurt ;) Link

I had decent success sending a spy plane/paradrop over a BF and attacking it with tanks or using splits when possible. But admittedly it wasn't against pros
-
The latest fix worked for me too. Thanks!

I have the same problem even after using the patch. Error message: "File specified in DLLPath = for renderer 'TS_DDRAW' does not exist.

I see this quite a bit. Drop the Ban Hammer!

Please can we hide players identity in CNC client log?
Tkragon replied to FP4ME's topic in Red Alert 2
Change your nickname? Or am I missing something? -
Love the new maps! Looking forward to next update!s :)

Let me share my one story I have of ZigZag... He was one of the first people I played, when I started playing online a little over a year ago. Needless to say he beat me easily, like most people did back then, but he was different than the others. He didn't call me a noob like most people did. He asked me if I was new, when I said I was, he complimented me that I played decently for a new player and gave me some tips & encouragement to continue. I probably wouldn't be playing right now if weren't for him. I don't think I ever played him after that but his kindness that first game will stay with me! RIP Zig! Sad to see you go...
