Ra2/YR on CnCNet client has all the old maps as far as i know. A different discussion is the Ladder/QM maps. A lot of new stuff has been added and many old skool have been removed and/or replaced by the LE versions to add more balance and opportunity.

Ya man, these cutscenes actually could be remastered with a higher quality than the Remastered Collection (TD and RA1). Some people did it with AI upscaling to 4k 60fps and the result is so good, you can watch them in YT. So if EA still has the original footage (which I sadly doubt) the result could be even better. Also the game shows them at the same size like the menu screens lol, and they get smaller as you increase the reso. I wish someone would make a patch to fix this.

Yes they do, trust me. The whole game being small implies that hes running on Windowed mode, otherwise it wouldn't make any sense. I hope he clears it up.

I think he means the menu screens becomes smaller, but the game itself should be ok. This happens for design in TS and Ra2, however Yuri's Revenge stretches its menus to the screen size and its a matter of design, you can't really do else about it than modifying/coding the .exe files, and most of us got no clue. Or using the current and updated clients (except for campaigns of course)

I vote for Ra2 mode having Ra2 music and YR mode having YR music. Anyone can change that anyway and many ppl don't even listen the game music lol

I am not playing much Ra2/YR at the moment but definitely that sounds like a great job. Thank you so much for such a thankful and worth to be seen work. Keeping all these games alive is a great achievement but being willing to go the extra mile in 2023 is just something that can't be thanked. Hi, if you already installed the whole game and the CnCNet you shouldn't need external patches as CnCNet fixes all the problems in the .ini files and gives an updated graphics renderer. I would try using ra2.exe and ra2md.exe instead of game.exe and gamemd.exe. Create a shortcut for them and set the compatibility settings to winxp sp3 as known and run as admin, and see what happens. Reading this, I can't really understand why in 2023 there are players cheating in Ra2, sounds like a bad joke. Actually the people playing nowadays should be peopel who really likes the game and/or been playing for years and not this scum.

Yes 🙂 ra2.exe works 100% for me. The CnCNet itself works with ANY version of Ra2. I've run with a CD install, TFD, Origin and even third party no CD installers 😛 The difference is that Campaign Modes in the CnCNet will call the Ra2Launcher.exe file which is only in Origin version if they didn't change it, because most people now run the game from Origin/EA app, so if your game installation comes from a CD this file will not be found and campaign won't run from the client. You can still launch the original games ra2.exe and ra2md.exe, but these files need compatibility settings to Win XP SP3 and 'run as admin' to run properly. You can do this on the Ra2/YR desktop icons. The OP is using Origin/EA installation so I believe your problems are different, he for EA's Client messing the game launcher/prompting, and yours because you don't have a Ra2Launcher.exe Menu so you straight need to run the ra2 .exe/ra2md.exe Hope this helps, cheers!

From what I've seen, the CnCNet Runs the campaigns simply by executing the RA2Launcher.exe but I guess this is for new ppl... as you have that icon on your desktop. The game can run without the CnCNet of course, I did it with the CD's, Origin version and The First Decade, you only really need to set the compatibility modes to Windows XP SP3/Run as admin, and incase you get black screen, low fps, and such things, just install the CnCDDraW on your game folder. The question is that the CnCNet fix some more things than the graphics renderer and thats why it's adviced, but if I want to play the campaigns, I simply run ra2.exe or ra2md.exe with the settings I told you before, the CnCNet being isntalled or not doesn't really matter here. By the way, CnCNet has it's own launcher and it's based on Yuri's Revenge, the way that it be able to emulate Ra2 is simply by .ini rules, that's why there are still small and negligible differences in the CnCNet Ra2 mode to the original Ra2, but is doesn't have any effect when you launch Ra2.exe simply because they don't use the same files. What version of the game do you have installed? CD? Origin? TFD?

I would try to uninstall the game completely, after making a backup of all your extra stuff like maps or mods if any. And then do a fresh reinstall and install the CnCNet to patch it. Sometimes it works. If not, send me a PM 😉

Hi Sam 🙂 By a launcher I mean a program which externally let the game run without the @#%! EA App, it would be the best solution most of the times. Why is this piracy? Because the EA App is intended to be there as a DRM and copy protection, so if I copy the game folder to a friends PC he would need the EA app and my EA account to play Ra2 (which is not freeware) If we skip this by a launcher, is like we are creating a pirate copy of the game because my friend could play Ra2 without buying from EA, and we wouldn't need the app anymore. This would be the legal matter, but if we talk about moral considerations, everyone should use game launchers as long as EA doesn't fix the issues that ruins their customers fun, and they don't seem to put many effort on it, if any...

So you launch Ra2 from the EA app, it pops up the message 'this game require admin permissions' and then the game crashes or not even run and not even shows the menu where you can select Ra2 or YR? Did I understood well? If thats the problem, is probably the EA Client itself messing up the game launcher. I am aware that many people are having similar problems with other games. I am about to send a complaint to EA about how f@#%ing bad is their application, and how passive they are to improve it. Possible provisional fixes I would try: - Uninstall EA Client and try Origin - Search and Read Answers HQ, maybe you'll find the fix there - Send a Support Request to EA's mailbox and bug them - Search for a game launcher althought this is considered piracy... Although on a second thought, we all should just bust EA's Mailbox with complaints, until they f@#%ing move. Greetings.

I did not play Ra1 yet but in CnC Remastered, the difficulty settings not only affects damage multipliers, it also does on how frequently they attack, and in hard mode they do it very often. Maybe your issue is related to a bug in the game or simply a trigger not well made/placed, assuming you are talking about Ra1 (not remastered). Triggers are orders the game gives to the AI to take action, a trigger needs an event to happen like ''player has x unit/building'' or ''time elapsed since x'' and an action ''build x team and patrol x waypoint or attack x building'' for example. If the event is not given the trigger just won't trigger and won't cause an action by the AI sending a response team or whatever, but it can also happen for game bug or not very well coded lines in the game code. Also there are some things like the AI not rebuilding that actually, are supposed to be like that in campaign modes, nothing new. I don't really think it has something to do to our computers or OS being too new as long as the game runs on them with apparently no problems, if that were the case many other games would have problems, but they don't. I believe it's more likely some unnoticed/unfixed bug.

Trust me, the best we can do to fight against this (besides of finding and banning them) is simply NOT to play them!! Ignore them, put them into irrelevance. Go find other games, create your own, and at the moment the cheaters has problems to fill their rooms because no one wants to play them, they will get bored.

I know exactly what you mean. Just try extracting ra2md.exe and game.exe from this .rar directly to your game folder, and set the compatibility mode to WinXP3 SP2 again. Tell me if it worked. TFD YR NoCD Fixer.rar

You shouldn't have uninstall, just try a different graphics renderer from the TS Launcher

Hi patrikkh123. Have you install a DRM Driver in Windows 11? I believe there's aproblem with graphics renderer. Try this: Copy the whole Yuri's Revenge disc to a folder on your main discs, let's suppose C:\YourDesktop\Yuri's Revenge Disc While the disc is copying download this https://github.com/FunkyFr3sh/cnc-ddraw/releases Once the disc is copied, extract ddraw.dll and ddraw.ini from the ZIP file to C:\YourDesktop\Yuri's Revenge Disc\SETUP Run setup.exe from the same folder, theoretically, you don't need to set compatibility or colour modes. Hopefully this wil work 90% for sure.

Have you install the CnCNet Client? If not, do it right now and if the problem persists, open your Ra2/YR folder and set the compatibility modes for ra2md.exe and game.exe to Windows XP Service Pack 3. This should work.

I suggest you to run the uninstaller, first CnCNet if you have it (unins000.exe) and then Ra2YR (uninstall.exe) or from the ADD/REMOVE Programs in your CP. It will remove all the Ra2 and YR essential files, and keep what you added later (maps and stuffs). Once you get there, rename that folder to Ra2Backup or something like that and start a fresh install from the discs or EA App, installing the CnCNet and all the stuff and fixes. Now go to your backup folder and copy only what you really are going to use to the main folder, and of course avoid the allxxx.map and sovxxx.map files if there's any to avoid overwriting. Tell me if it worked
