That is not a screenshot from Red Alert it's a screenshot from the original Command & Conquer game. Oldcncstuff.zip is a compilation of old maps and tools that were on the Defcon 3 disk for Command & Conquer, it's mostly for the specially interested, many of the tools might not even work as they are made for DOS.

Uhmm any freeware release of TS has the 2.03 patch installed. No need to patch it. Did you get an internal error? When did you get a CTD? If you got an internal error there should be a file called except.txt in the TS folder, zip that and upload it here.

Here's a download for Sole Survivor: http://downloads.cnc-comm.com/Command-Conquer-Sole-Survivor.zip it is without the CD audio, but it has the ingame music intact.
-
Sole Survivor has no LAN mode.
-
Yes, there are. Seems like I forgot to style them like tables though. 1 2 3 4 ></pre> <table>1234</t
-
You probably downloaded the file to a folder you don't have permissions to execute files. Download it to your desktop or something.
-
Upload the except.txt please.

To play on line the official way (XWIS) you need to register a forum and then game account at XWIS. To play YR on line with CnCNet on The Ultimate Collection you need a non-encrypted executable, which would most likely be a No-CD patch. To play on LAN or on line you need unique serial readable by the game. I'm unsure but it sounds like Origin installs the serials to the wrong registry entries and thus the games doesn't read them.

DOSBox has IPX tunneling over TCP/IP, no need for CnCNet for DOSBox.

I'm no programmer, but I'll answer the questions the best I can. All the changes in PortableRA was made by patching the game directly. I'm pretty sure that all the features are very hard to implement in assembler code considering that the source code of RA was never released and if they are possible the players might protest as these suggestions create fairly major gameplay changes. Some people even protested about the higher resolutions and mouse scroll in the sidebar. [*]Would be hard to implement and changes the gameplay [*]This feature is in Arda [*]Been there since 1996. Just enable shroud regrows [*]See point 1. [*]Hard to implement I'm pretty sure either CCHyper, Iran or AlexB can answer the questions better though.

Is there any music in the options menu? If not then you might have not downloaded the music.

The CnCNet server is not down. Go to your RA folder and run cncnet.exe as administrator if that doesn't work try and delete the file called "wsock32.dll".

ddwrapper and IE-ddraw aren't compatible with each other. There's no point in combining them it only results in wasted disk space. Does sun.exe work, but not game.exe for you Izzyness? If so then Microsoft might apply some compatibility fixes on sun.exe, but not game.exe which would be rather interesting.

If you put the video link in a sentence it doesn't auto embed and you can use the noembed bbcode which should work for multiple links, but by default it embeds the video. So it supports not embedding the videos, it's just reversed from what other forums usually do.

PC Gamer recently posted a very small article describing why you should play Red Alert. With the article there was an accompanying video discussing various things that makes Red Alert a fun game even for todays standards with some inaccuracies here and there, but that can be looked passed. One of the cool parts of the video is that Tyler Wilde the author of the video and article opted to use Irans patch, although he used an older version. Why you should play C&C: Red Alert 1

All mods should work you just need to keep in mind what RA version they are for and that the other people you are playing use the same mod.

If it had viruses my PC would have been toast right now. And I don't promote anything I think is potentially unsafe.

Where did you get C&C1?

If the RA2 player count reads 5 and you can't see plsyers then you either have port issues or the other players are playing Yuri's Revenge. If you have port issues try to use this tool to open the port: http://cncnet.org/files/cncnet-upnptool.zip To use the tool click on "Get all port mappings" then it should say "Starting UPNP Device Search..." if it gets stuck there the tool wont work for you. otherwise click on "Map My Port". If the UPNP tool doesn't work you'll need to either manually forward port 8054 protocol UDP to your computer from your router interface or if you can't access your router go to the CnCNet settings and disable peer to peer mode. Disabling peer to peer mode puts you in tunneled mode which is slower but should work most of the time.

You are not taken directly to the network menu in normal RA2 or TS. You need to go to the network menu yourself. If you can't see anyone in the network lobby then there are most likely no people there. CnCNet.org has stats to see if people really are in the lobby you are looking at. Edit: cleared up broken English.

So you thought RA modding was dead? You thought that there was no RA mods around? Well think again! White has created an interesting mod for Red Alert using Arda called C&C Classic Revolution. This mod pits the US against the USSR against each other in a cold war gone hot scenario. The mod features gameplay that is different from what people are used to in RA with powerful infantry units, a new method of expanding and a lot more. For more information and a link to download the mod check the forum topic. http://i.imgur.com/7ry3A.png[/img]
