  1. Nope, totally impossible. 640x480 was simply a "black strips" widescreen-movie-on-TV-like workaround for the real 640X400 resolution. I've personally removed these exceptions from the game, and I've never seen any fan-hacks before mine that did such a thing. Note that this isn't just a game hack, either: it requires adapted sidebar graphics to fit that larger height.
  2. I did say I was mostly joking, there. I think the easiest way to go here is just to use the Red Alert 3 music of the Japan side.
  3. Neat. We should make a list of these kinds of odd issues.
  4. Actually, the X-O suit is already part of the Dawn of the Tiberium Age mod for Tiberian Sun.
  5. Mostly just me, but I got a lot of help, especially from CCHyper
  6. Actually, what you describe there is the normal behaviour of 640x400 mode on CRT monitors.
  7. Actually, most of the game's sounds are from audio clip collections they bought.
  8. Dunno, Mammoth tanks are pretty good at it actually.
  9. Welcome! And start by playing through C&C95
  10. Fun fact: in C&C1, the secondary colour affects the buildings (and MCV and harvester). The units have the standard Nod colour, meaning that without the secondary scheme, they're actually grey
  11. Oh, I can add new units to the game. But I see no reason whatsoever to do that. One of the main pillars in my patch development was always that despite the fact I fix and change things under the hood, the gameplay experience will not change. No balance changes, either. So new units? Nope, that's right out. I hope I'll one day get around to unlocking enough of the game that modders can add their own, but I will never add such a thing to a patch for the game.
  12. Ships use cells that are twice as large in both dimensions, though.

That's just because they've learned how to spam tanks faster I've seen the recorded games, Funky. It's nothing but a line of tanks between two bases. Practically like C&C4.
  14. Well they'd obviously be made impassable as water terrain type. Though I agree, editing the graphics is probably a better solution.
  15. Uhh... just do the same thing C&C1 does, duh. Make these cells impassable.

Strategy? In a tankspam game like Red Alert? lawl. As if "building construction order" does not equal "strategy", Funky
  17. Yeeah, I found out about that when working on redesigning the buildings for the (now sadly rather abandoned) "Tiberian Dawn" mod for C&C3. I'd sketched something that had that oil tank, and then some kind of dumpster in front of it, and then one of the others on the team remarked "wait, isn't that thing in front of it just a truck cabin?" And then we all realized he was right, and it was really just an oil tanker. I should've realized, really, since the game's name string for the building is literally "Oil Tanker" O_o I guess the internal name, "ARCO", was supposed to be some generic oil company name.
  18. True... the actual transition tiles are already impassable in C&C1.
  19. Um, the error message clearly says you tried to play in 1536x864... what setting did you change, exactly?
  20. CnC-DDraw automatically adjusts to a minimum of the game resolution anyway. He's just modifying the wrong thing.
  21. What do you mean with "How close does it needs to be"? As for the jpop, lol, I'm mostly joking here, really. Though, off the top of my head, A Song for ×× (singing starts at 1:35) and Boys & Girls are some of Ayu's real classics. For Yuki Kajiura, my favourites are Sen'ya Ichiya (1001 Nights), and quite a bunch from the album "Dream Field", for which she composed and was the keyboard player. I love the hell out of all of that album, but if I'd have to give an example, I'd probably pick Kiuko. If you want something truly glorious and Japanese, I suggest you take a look at Christopher Tin's "Mado Kara Mieru" Mado Kara Mieru OFFICIAL VERSION With Lyrics and translation Then again, all of that album (Calling All Dawns) is breathtaking... its opening song was the only game music (title menu song of Civilizations 4) that ever won grammy awards. The album goes over a load of countries/cultures/languages, and the second song just happens to be Japanese. Though since it's meant as a showcase of the culture, the sound is Japanese, the lyrics are japanese, and the whole text is actually a bunch of haiku's
  22. Well, saving map states is kinda what they did in RA for those missions where you return to an expanded version of the same map later and get your old base there, no?
  23. Screenies plz? :3
  24. Well, Yuki Kajiura is someone who became famous for composing songs despite not being the singer. She did a couple of brilliant anime series soundtracks, like Noir and .hack//SIGN. Though a lot of her stuff is actually influenced by European folk music. Ayumi Hamasaki, better known as simply "Ayu", is the undisputed Empress of Pop in Japan. Her popularity is the stuff of legends.
