what you dont know how to detect stealth with helicopters (playing as gdi vs nod it can be game changing but in a very unfair bad way. If "sandbaging" is considered bad practice this is a big no no)

even those who like RA as it is, what do you think could be done to "ballance it" a bit more especialy when you have Allied players agains Soviet player? (apart from the bugs relating to France and England getting a negative bonus and argubly ukraine not getting faster air units) So we have the suggestion of making some units more cost effective. (Is this worth a split?) -
Well as a small update i have gathered up all my backups and im happy to say TS:BoB lives and is all there (what i have done is all there) I have been racking threw the Files for the German Version of TS and have found a few small "Beta" files including some unused sound effects and more strange Tiberian crystal and rain drop splashes, ofcourse the german version also contains some interesting and possibly useful Censored material. I am also downloading The spanish version of TS (from a time when it was ilegal by the looks of the file) which will hopefuly have some other "missing" content like the german one did, Still need to get a French version (dont know if any other languages excist) and possibly we can modify Tores installer program to allow the user to select which language he wants to install or use these to create new language specific downloads. I hope to get some VXL editing done soon. Edit excuse the spelling and grammer, im tired
-
Thanks for the interest and im glad you like it It hasnt been going recently but it should be... ... ive got quite a bit of enquiry about BoB recently and due to event i cannot reveal information on yet i think im going look out the backups, to sort out my Mod files and get working on BoB again. I shall try to get a New update asap but dont expect it tommorow.

Agreed, There are still units and features i wish tiberian sun had/supported but i still love it the way it is On the subject of ballancing RA better, i shall be back soon with ideas (ill post in a new topic, so this one doesnt become to cluttered) -

This version contain lots of fixes and additions across the board Including: A new improved map format Crash fixes Improving Harvester docking Adding capturable Oil Derricks Added more Different Bots (mp AI) Better OSX support (as if you would want to use OSX) Tools A Beta version of the RA2 Map image rendering Tool has been posted Which contains may improvements of the original and Now supports Tiberian Sun maps! (Please Note however this Beta version doesn’t come with a User interface and is purely command line based!) An example picture Link to Topic At PPM Patches As I have posted here already, There was a Tiberian Sun patch which slipped under the radar until now. It may surprise you to learn that one devoted fan has attempted to elongate the life of Tiberian sun by undertaking the task of altering Tiberian Sun to be compatible with Ipv6 . A link to the Topic I posted can be found Here A link to the page and a beta version can be found there.

I live some of the fancy units (like the chrono or mad tank), some of the facncy new logics (naval battles, bridges you can destroy, etc) and the expansions but I never liked they way woody west implemented the core units and gameplay. multiplayer turns in to you adverage spam fest quickly (if i wanted that id suck up to the koreans on $tarCr*p) and the skirmish AI are pretty bad... ...Ballance mod could make it nicer (my own ballance mod eventualy ended up concentraiting on adding new things which compleatly defeted the purpose) IMO The RA games have never been thought out or as good as the CnC ones but always have had some nice logics and units (until the just £A games reversed this by realising 2 poor CnC's and good RA's) -
@ beano and slade do you know what graphics hardware your laptop/computer has? It is possible that simple your graphics chipset doesnt support TS properly (i belive Tore had some problem like this which resulted in poor game play) The only soulutions i can think of is trying to reinstall your video drivers and/or checking you have no background/ desktop programs running which may be causing the glitch. @ Pichorra and Nyerguds, Offtopic but i had to turn down the graphics from high to 8 bit Acer computer (dont know what the graphics card is, think its intergrated) to stop that bug appearing every where, menus and in game.

[TS] A unmentioned multiplayer patch
Revolutionary replied to Revolutionary's topic in The Tech Center
There isnt enough IPv4 adresses any more, the estimates are in the next year we will run out leading to the forced adoption of IPv6 (since 5 was skipped), IPv4 is unlikely to be killed as such but we need to move forward unless we wish to be faced with a shortage of adresses, when we hit the limit it simply means no new device will be able to connect to the internet. (Think of how any computers there are, how many smart phones, servers, games platforms, internet based TV's all the time more are being created, bought and used And all need an IP adress) Edit: have a look at this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IPv4_address_exhaustion -
On my browsing of the internet i came across this patch which i have never seen mentioned any where else http://ts.sesse.net/ As you may or may not know we are running out of IPv4 Adresses and sonner or latter we are going to have to change to IPv6, many modern games never mind old are still being shipped with no IPv6 support which could potentialy be very costly mistake. I was supprised this patch for Tiberian Sun which could quite easily extend its life for years to come was never mentioned. I posted this here since i thought it was relevent and hopefuly it may benifit Our projects like CnCNet.

Ill look in to doing that. (i supose ill need one which is compatiable with NTFS and FAT32, i belive it isnt because they are less known but there are legal issues attached to these filesystems) Ive used ubuntu netbook edition a bit, i might download proper ubuntu and fedora to give them a cick test in virtual machine. I have been using open suse a bit and one of the smaller striped (cant remember which one) down distros but not enough to fully understand what they can and cant do
-
I want to do this (change OS) but i still however wish to backup windows for warrenty reasons and some of the acer software is worth keeping(i also have a partition with android OS on it which is no real use to me at all) Unless i can find some windows software which will allow me to back it up before i install a new OS my cheapest option is going to be getting a sata/ide to usb converter so i can physical attach one of my HD's or DvD/CD drives
-
(i think this is the best place to ask this, move it if it isnt) Well ive got my hands on this rather nice new acer netbook and in preperation set up a partition on my 1TB HD i use on my gaming pc in order to back up the contence on my netbook since it has no disk drive (with the hope to utilise an older pc destined for the skip to use as a basic home server for backup and sharing some documents, like my best of beta files which are spread far and inbetween several computers having never been reunited for various reasons) Windows 7 however has blow my plan out of the water, unlike in vista, the "home editions" do not support backing up to a network (even one using windows server) the response for microsoft? buy the required hardware or upgrade windows. I realy dont have the money to do so and refuse to pay for windows 7 outright, this crappy starter version of 7 was bundled with my netbook. I was wondering does any one know of any good software which would allow me to create a image of my harddrive and save it to a network location? So far i have had no luck with COMODO backup and have tried a few others with no luck. Thanks in advance, Revolutionary

Welcome NodAssaultTrooper, I hope you enjoy your stay and that we may see you playing on cncnet

(final reset my password and just in time) Happy New Year every one

With older games some times this is the problem. What OS are you and are your graphics drivers all up to date?
-
The download is ok isnt it, i had problems getting RA+ to run recently having just DL it, didnt fix it as i managed to strip TS down to the required size so i could use that instead (School LAN battle )

Tiberian Dawn - Hill Defense (Singleplayer)
Revolutionary replied to Lin Kuei Ominae's topic in C&C Singleplayer Maps
Im going to have to try this, Your desert maps look realy good -
Well we could have an official CnCNet map pack for CnC, RA and TS now, just need to find good maps (i need to finnish making maps again)
-
Revo here, im woring on an old project of mine again and i was wondering if next time you play a Tiberian sun game you could report any map bugs you see here, or over at Tib Web. It would greatly help and speed up my work. Trigger related and graphical glitches both wanted! For example TS MP Tread lightly - has road at the top of the map which are cut off/end suddenly - there are a few graphical problems regarding clifts and bridges around the botom left starting position

New Icons and side bar (wip, opinions needed)
Revolutionary replied to Revolutionary's topic in Graphics
A lot of my shp's are pretty messed up due to using the shp builder on them and not importing the using xcc (it would be nice if someone posted a tut on how to do that here, i cant remember and it would be usfull to new community members) but i can upload the image files i used to create them however Edit is that all of them? -
I Don’t want the front end (and you do get them) I know most of the commands (all i need) inside out. I have no problems with remembering commands. like i said it is for a friend who otherwise would be ringing me up every 5 minutes to ask how it works and since he has go twenty game id prefer not having to spend all night setting them up and every night after that fixing them. He appreciates the games but is a complete tech n00b, me fixing this started with him asking why the .exe files wouldn’t run and what .exe meant. Right so ill have a look in to the suggestions and creating config file (i setup config files before just never bothered recreating them after a reinstall) @MrFibble, don’t know about the early windows OS but been testing FreeDOS with the earlier games for some time now, I only wish I could put together a compatible computer and along with other things as well as personal projects I would use it for Retro gaming.
-
I was wondering if any of you have used any of the DOSBox frontends and GUI's? The reason i ask is i have a friend who is in to Retro games and recently go a hold of several games for the PC. He isnt very knowledgable with computers so it would be easyer for him and me if we could set it up for him once and never need to worry about commands or keyboard short cuts again. I could create a .bat file for every game if that would be easyer but i think a GUI would be "nicer" for him to work with.
