as i fellow Vista user i have two Words to say "Compatability Mode" try running the game in 98 compatability mode (if ofcourse you have tryed already) loads of comaptability problems on vista can be fixed by running in compatability mode and/or running as admin

there is a way to fix the messed up colours on windows 7 of course make sure you use the Red Alert 64bit version here is a link to the topic http://www.cnc-comm.com/community/index.php?topic=711.0 (i think you have to update RA to the newest patch 3.03) @Tore it would be good if you sticked that topic, even better if it was sticked and moved to the repain bay!

Well i wasnt sure since i dont own the game, since we are on the subject of other games and cncnet has CnC DOS been tested, i know it has LAN play...

Bump untill the next patch it would be useful for this information to be posted on the CnCNet site (perhaps also listing all the defalts as well) less so for newer users but more for us that have changed settings (like enabled seperate heli-pads) which would cause compatability problems

@ godly-cheese Both, since a lot of RA and CnC units are the same i though i might as well remake the icons for both games @ uNdeAd I personaly prefer sidebar icons without text and look more uniform (hence why i didnt just remove the lettering on the excisting icons) Other reasons were i liked how the dos cameos changed colour (however i dont know if nyerguds can implement that logic in to CnC Gold) and i wanted a style i could use for mod while not needing work on making new cameos fit in. -
I think this is the right place to post this For a while i have been working on a new side bar and alternative cameos. I personally liked the uniformity and lack of writing on the DOS cameo however i did not want them to appear pixelated so this was my solution. (this pic was edited show you the icons) I Lost the Pic :/ Of course they are not finished and some have problem (like the inf being incomplete) I would be great full if people could give there opinion on these icons and how i could improve them (they are for both RA and TD and i intend to use a similar style in future mods) Some buildings from mods are included to show the style i want to achieve and how easy it would be to create a full set that match for a mod.

by shitty he might be reffering to other things (Ive never had any RAM related problems personaly had some sort of problem with every thing else at some point/on some computer) could you expand on that comment slightly uNdeAd.

Dune? Supreme commander? Sun Age? etc... CnC is to diverse, the tib, ra and gen universes are all there own game in their own right, generals was great but not really a CnC, The Tiberian games as a universe got progressivly worse the closer to the over all ending you got and imo when it comes to RA, RA3 is more of a RA game than that horrid thing called RA2 Starcraft and warcraft, I could fill a whole page with in depth reason for not liking the games

Welcome to CnC-Comm beedee, Hopefuly we can be helpful with the development of your project and please do pass my congratulations on to the other devs for getting it to this Reasonable and recognisable state Thanks on the info on how to run it in CnC mode . I would like to look in to modding using this as a platform however Ill happily wait for further and greater improvements. What is still to be done isn’t going to stop me from making attempts of course, documentation or none, Or from rummaging threw your source code (not that I am likely to be much help but you never know) Hopefully Ill be some help to you guys and good luck for the future (at least you didn’t pick a game with Chrono vortexes, heli-carriers and M.A.D. Tanks ) You been messing with my news post , nah just kidding hopefuly ill post a bit more news every so often, I should really get back in to things may be work on B.o.B. or something... As much as i like this project Please do continue

couldnt work out how to play CnC1 yet. TBH im thinking ive always wanted to make a CnC or RA Total Conversion mod and being open source this might be the best engine for it.

A new version of OpenRA have been released! There are versions for Windows, Mac OS and Linux. OpenRA Preview 2/2: Infantry & new UI Keep in mind that Open RA is in the early alpha stages and nowhere from being finished and lacks singleplayer. It does show a lot of potential and possibly one day we might see other games being based on this open source game engine. A discussion was started on the forum Here prior to this post.

Well i play all of them except Sole and Uprising (due to single player being limited and my conflicting views on Digital Download and lack of credit-card/paypal) However mainly the first 3 (TD, RA, TS) Generals and RA3 (online problems make revo mad) As for the rest i play the once in a blue moon.

right ignore my stuff about the stealth crate; it works perfectly on and off land, only there is no chance of getting it in un-modded RA. -

What the heck? What do you mean with "creates"? We were talking about submarine cloaking. The Cloakable=Yes rules.ini option works on units just as well as on ships. And it IS what is used by the Phase Transport; check the mission ini. Facepalms, Sorry that was my fault i meant crate (dam my spelling ), as in what you pick up to get "[Powerups]". Cloak=0,STEALTH2 ; enable cloaking on nearby objects the crate works but never apeared on land for me, and it was the submerge cloaking effect and sound used rather than the one used by the phase transport (where the shadows are shown) i dont think there would be a difference which make it even stranger... (not intending to included any graphics in this mod so its still a bit of a waste incuding it in the expand02.mix) True, Very True argubly we could have won our independance as the empire started falling apart after the great war looks like it, and we shall just need to bully hyper in to patching the dos version aswell -

I never found any "Land" creates when i was searching. (all other creates were disabled in the rules) only water creates appeared for me Strange are you running TFD or just RA from the disks? Im sure the icon apeared for me before however it doesnt apear on either of my two Vista computers running TFD :/ Ah Thanks, thats a bit of a pain as all i wanted to do was Change England to Britain ist realy worth packing the .dat file with my mod... TFD 1.03 patch (the most recent revision) i remember running the dos version before when i had just TFD installed... -
EDIT: Yea my test want very good, it works but it isnt restricted to ships. First off i have found something out which i am unaware if you guys know. The clocking create in RA works perfectly however is not connected to the stealth/cloak logic like in CnC1 or used by the phase transport but it is in fact connected to the submarine “clockâ€/dive logic. During my tests I successful managed to turn a cruiser in to a rather scary and unbalanced fighting machine. (it looks a bit strange however, a ship suddenly sinking) As much as I like this create (I could find use for it in a TC mod) I hope Hyper or other can implant a Real Cloak logic usable for both boats and ground units in to RA. Next the questions... First does any one else have problems with the Fake sub pens cameo not showing in either RA:95 or RA:DOS mode? I was going to add the fake building to the soviets and this problem appeared, and does any one know how to fix it? Second does the conquer.eng file need to be included in a mix file? When ever I place it in the directory and run the game the game deletes the conquer.eng file placed in the directory. Thirdly does TFD patch remove the DOS .exe files from the Red Alert directory? It is a bit of a pain for me since I use the DOS version more than the normal version, It was only recently after compatibility problems I installed the newest TFD patch on all my computers for Lan.

I’ve been exploring the world wide web recently and i have come across these little gems, they might not be for your favourite game or the games might not exist in your eyes but they are still worth a look... Generals Beta Files http://www.megaupload.com/?d=4B335N80 In this package you get almost all of the graphics needed to recreate the beta USA Fraction (not all of it is shown in my pictures) as well as some Chinese and GLA buildings and units (not enough however to be useful for a TC or Beta mod) Also included are a large number of videos, sound files, .ini files and maps Beta Renegade 2 Files (Win RAR needed) http://www.filefront.com/4908184/Renegade-2-Model-Pack/ There is a lot less in this package compared to the generals one however it is still useful. Many of the graphics can be put straight into renegade (however the trees and wall w3d files were designed to use features which were unique to the renegade 2 engine, this doesn’t matter however as some of the Gmax file are included.
