    okay did some troubleshooting, its not my Expand.mix at all. its something in rules.ini that is doing it.

You kinda have to dig through a few forums and sift through topics to find the goodies like this, some uploads should be updated :laugh: I'm currently active mapping so I'll try this new version and report on the CPU usage. EDIT I just tried the new version of edwin. My CPU usage stayed normal the entire time even when opening menus.

    Changed the Radar Dome to the Radar Dish from TS. Come to think of it that's when it may have started. I can try re-packing my mix file see if that fixes it. I know RA just does weird things with no explanation sometimes. But none of the building make frames play so who knows.

    that's not what I mean. When placing a building, the xxxxMAKE.SHP frames do not play. The building awkwardly appears.
  7. I don't suppose anyone has the very old upload I posted here... I lost all work on this mod and am missing some SHPs I would like to keep...
  8. Is the extended beach sand part of the temperate tileset or a completely new one? I really like it and think it would look awsome with the jungle tileset.

    The make animations for buildings do not play with a modded version of portable RA. Its not heavily modded, about 1MB of extra content in a MIX and rules changes. I really cant say what made it start happening, I think as soon as I made any rules changes and used a custom Mix.

    I ended up changing a few things, well a lot of things. I found out you can add new units manually to teamtypes, just don't load the map in RAED after.. disaster How do i attach a file anyway, I only see FTP link I don't have a server.
  11. its a reinforcement trigger not create. use the top left anchor cell ive done it before with barracks it works.

    I finished the 1st level. Any testers as I crank these out? I don't want them to be too hard upon release. EDIT, I posted in the mapping forum, can a mod move it to right place please.
  13. Is there a way to use newly added units in single player maps in team types or triggers? Team types use the actual vehicle designation like V2RL. So like SSM from your example download, maybe putting SSM in a team type would work? In your RAED experience, think it would be possible to add new unit keys?

    Nah, I just prefer Edwin for raw map building over RAED, more smooth better GUI.

Different sort of problem, same concept Rhob wrote: "XCC Will not allow me to set or chance a TS directory making it useless to read any cameos with a color pallet. So I'll need a download or something. Or maybe just the cameo pallet since XCC seems to be able to load individual pallets."   17. Being that I have not contributed anything substantial to the Red Alert community since 2003, I want to make a full campaign. I think there would be a market for it given the amount of RA players on CNCNet. I did have a large Arda Mod/Campaign in the works, but I deleted all work on that project (long story). I think it will be a vanilla campaign to plug in to portableRA. Now that multiple theaters are available like desert and jungle, it would be cool to have a campaign that uses all of them. I don't just want to release missions, i'd rather have a tester or 2 to send them through, anyone interested? The new Hi-Res Edwin should make map making a breeze too..
  18. Nice Topic. I realized as I got older there was some ties with the early C&C games, modern day "Orwellian" views , and even some esoteric stuff. Like the pyramids in TS and the Scrin later. And Kane was involved with media manipulation in TD. I'd probably have to go through the games again, I know there is more.
  19. Looks like I'm back here again. I'm not gonna try doing mods anymore, just been playing a few games on CNCNET.
  20. Must have been a fluke, playing now and it did not crash. BTW about building foundations, http://cnc-comm.com/community/index.php?topic=2466.0 there may be a little bit of insight there. Seems that its not enough to increase the building foundation size, as Red Alert still expects certain size sprites to be there. If you increase the foundation, and put a bigger sprite on it, GFX clipping still occurs.

  23. I had the game crash last night, GDI mission 15c where the Nod power plant and comm center are right next to you at starting. Game crashed when I captured comm center O_o
