Cannot play multiplayer game with own tunnel server- unable to connect
FunkyFr3sh replied to uildvek's question in Support
Port 50000 TCP and UDP must be forwarded, that's correct. But you might not be able to connect to the server on your own cause you are running it on your pc and not on a real server. That means the client is trying to connect to your public ip, but your router may not be smart enough to send the packet back to your pc. Some routers do it, some not. I got one that does it and another old one that doesn't. So, others may be able to use your server if the port was forwarded correctly, but you probably can't. You could buy a cheap VPS somewhere in your country and host the server on that, will cost between $1-10 a month- The cncnet client for the other games has a tunnel built in that is smarter and sends directly to local host rather than the public ip, so it would also be possible to have that in YR if someone adds it -

CnCNet doesn't open on Mac OS X 10.12 (Sierra)
FunkyFr3sh replied to wolfbyte404's question in Support
That's great, I will have a look into the multi player version soon. The good thing is that the single-player download also contains multi-player so you can still play online with it. LAN kinda works, but only limited, You need to have at least one windows pc in the network to start up the server. -
CnCNet doesn't open on Mac OS X 10.12 (Sierra)
FunkyFr3sh replied to wolfbyte404's question in Support
Can you give some more information about the problems? I mean, does it start up and you see the launcher? Or is nothing showing up at all? Currently I still don't know if the game launcher may be the problem or the game itself. Maybe it's easy to fix if we know the details. Is there any error message? Screenshot and logs would help a lot What download did you try? Single-Player or Multi-Player? If you haven't tried both yet, could you please try and report back? full game: CnCNet.dmg -

That would also end up with the same font problem. Check the last few posts here for all details -
Red Alert full game translations - language packs
FunkyFr3sh replied to FunkyFr3sh's topic in Red Alert
Hey! Cyrillic is very problematic, the game doesn't even have the font to display it properly. That means you need to start off by creating a font first. You can then replace a char with a Cyrillic one. We started once to work on a Russian translation but it was never finished. There is a working Russian translation but the creator doesn't want to share his files. Before you start to translate you need someone to help you with the font, maybe Nyerguds knows something about fonts -
[Video] Just keep the default settings, the installer will try to use the best ones for your OS automatically. The game normally doesn't work on windows 8 / 10, that's why we kept adding settings to ensure there is at least one that works. Default rendering is the best for me on windows 10 performance wise, but Alt+Tab doesn't work with it. DxWnd makes Alt+Tab working but has a worse performance and compatibility. ddwrapper+directdraw emulation can solve black screen issues but it breaks window mode. IE-DDraw was what we used initially to solve the windows 8 / 10 problems but it has a very bad performance and scroll bugs. TS-DDraw is a proxy dll specially made for tiberian sun, it has by far the best performance but some players keep crashing while using it (it is still a beta version) TL;DR There is no perfect solution for windows 8 / 10 yet

How do you install custom missions on cncnet?
FunkyFr3sh replied to Never_Enough's topic in Red Alert
Usually you only have to copy the files into your game folder and they will replace the original missions. Make sure you have the full game installed, the mini multiplayer versions don't support missions: https://forums.cncnet.org/index.php?topic=1918.0 Some missions might include mods, in that case you have to use the .exe file included with the mission. If there is no .exe file included then use the ra95_Mod-Launcher.exe in your game folder. (this one doesn't have high res support or any other improvements, it was meant to be 100% compatible to old mods) You can also convert missions to the new format, this way missions will be showing up in the "custom missions" menu rather than replacing existing missions. https://forums.cncnet.org/index.php?topic=2889.0 -
You might not even need to do what I suggested, try the game out first
-
there was a workaround, you could create a new background graphic with the size of your resolution, but I don't think that works anymore
-
Here is a free solution: http://portingkit.com/game/202 If the game runs slow then download "ddwrapper" and place the two files in your game folder, make sure you set "NoVideoMemory=1" in the settings file and add a dll override for "ddraw"
-
Try using the following server when you host a game: "[EU] Fast Europe Server --- www.FreeGameHosting. " This is the only server that is using a different port. Maybe the problem is related to the port used by all the other servers
-
You need to add a third player to the game, this way you can tell who of you both doesn't connect. The one who can only see his progress bar going up has the problem. Maybe firewall/anti virus
-
Sorry, been away ban was already removed a week ago
-
So streaming your desktop works fine I guess? But once you start ra2 it turns black? What windows do you even use? And what rendering setting in yr config? ts-ddraw?
-
I didn't try to record ra2 but I had a black screen too with other games when I used game capture, monitor capture works fine though. I had to set my game res to the same as my windows res to get monitor capture working
-
that's one of the last bugs of the high res patch, the animation only works if you set the resolution to 640x400 atm

Pre-game 'Veteran Upgrade' option suggestion @Th3Funk
FunkyFr3sh replied to Humble's topic in Tiberian Sun
Are you sure it doesn't work via map edits? Might be the best to find out why it doesn't work via maps and fix it there. And why are you talking about sun.ini? I think you meant rules.ini maybe? -
I guess you could also enable "ddwrapper" + "directdraw emulation" in the config program to fix your black screen problem. That would be much easier (if it works)
-
You can try to raise your resolution via the Settings button in the game launcher. 1280x720 could be a good choice. If you prefer to play at the original 640x400 then use "Stretch to fullscreen" or "Run in window" instead, one of them might solve your problem.

the messages you see are all normal, nothing to worry about I promoted your servers, they're now being selected automatically by the client (chosen by distance) Thanks for hosting the servers btw!
