  1. My negative tone wasn't meant towards you, mate. I've posted this on here and strike team, also advertised in lobby and games. No one appears to want to do this OR the time is bad. Not sure.
  2. This is a one-day event meaning it will start at the specified time and end within 2-3 hours. I would have liked for people to sign up prior to the event so I had a base of players, but it looks like there is absolutely no interest in doing that. I am going to try to collect players in the lobby at the specified time. If that fails, well, fuck it, I guess there's no hope for something like this.
  3. I would disagree in the sole purpose category. Every major RTS/game has an option to 1on1. It's a fun aspect of the game taking on someone else and counting statistics. It's incredibly important to help the skill level of the game. A 1on1 bracket is the only way for players to say "I am approximately THIS good in comparison to these players." The skill level of yr community right now is atrocious. The YR community hasn't had an active 1on1 ladder in roughly 4 years and even beyond that it wasn't a very active ladder. I firmly believe that this absence of a ladder is one of the key reasons why skill level is so poor for many players (not talking about the newbs who literally just installed the game for the first time). Also to mention -- a clan system would rejuvenate a community that is simply disconnected right now. Any case, I am really wondering on the status of this project. Can I get an update, anyone?
  4. Come on, y'all! Where you guys at? I'll be on this Sunday for the tournament!
  5. I would be interested to hear where the current problems are in creating a YR ladder. I know many have worked on it and it is complicated, but I am interested in hearing what the issues are / who is working on it currently (if anyone) / if anyone has any motivation to work on it at all / etc. Any details would be good. I would obviously love to help, but I am limited. Let me know the details and perhaps I can try to help or find a way.
  6. I don't get it. Is this just a highlighted 1on1 between two guys?
  7. Haha... i see you Joe. btw, auf is rank 1 currently on ra2 xwis clan. My clan, Drake, is rank 5 (thanks to Mikoz).
  8. Just to clarify, when you play online with other people the game runs perfectly? But when you play with your friend it lags hard? If that's the case, I have to think it is your friends PC/internet connection.
  9. Really cool maps. The problem I have with the last one is that the person who takes over the tech buildings will automatically win due to cliff advantage and economic advantage.
  10. JSDS, Yes. This tournament will start at the specified time with ALL of the competitors in the lobby at the same time. If we are unable to fill all 16, we will poll the cncnet lobby until we have 16 players ready to go. If you cannot play for the entire duration you should NOT sign up. I am expecting this tournament to go rather fast as we will all be on, playing, and it is only best of 3 series, so hopefully this tournament will take more like 2 hours instead of 3-4. Sign ups will stay open, preferential treatment goes to those who sign up in the thread first. Backups are welcome.
  11. I am signing up first, obviously, under the nickname XXxPrePxX.
  12. Tournament has been cancelled as there was not enough demand for it. :ranting: The Tournament Bracket is now live! Link: http://challonge.com/YR_March5 Greetings All. I have an idea for a tournament that I think will have good success. This will be a 1 day (Roughly <3 hour long) tournament. 16 Players will play a single elimination bracket tournament. We will ALL meet in the CNCNet lobby at a specified time. Once ALL 16 players are in the lobby at the same time, I will have the bracket randomized. From there, we will play out the bracket in simple best of 3 matchups (i.e. first to two wins). Objective: 1. To give players a chance to compete for prestige in a quick QM-style tournament. 2. To beef up the cncnet community and comradery. RULES WHAT? Yuri's Revenge 1v1 16 Player 1-day Tournament WHEN? Sunday, 03/05/2017 starting at 11am CST. A countdown timer can be found here: https://www.timeanddate.com/countdown/generic?iso=20170305T11&p0=64&msg=Yuri%27s+Revenge+1v1+Tournament+start%2Fmeet+up+time&font=sanserif DO YOU NEED TO STREAM?: No! This is a SPEED tournament based on quick matchups. Streaming is wonderful, but likely will slow the matchups down. WHO? 16 Competitors. Single elimination. WHERE?: CNCNET Lobby. We will meet up at the specified time. Game settings? SHORT GAME: ON MCV Repacks: ON Superweapons: ON Starting credits: 10,000 Game speed: FASTEST (60 FPS) Everything else OFF NOTE: Yuri is NOT allowed. First round (THEME: Easy to learn dust maps) 1st game: Dune Patrol 2nd game: Dry Heat (Top vs. Bottom) Third Game: Country Swing (Top left vs. Bot right) Second Round: (THEME: A bit more advanced maps) 1st game: Blood Feud 2nd game: Golden State FWY (Top right vs. Bottom Left) 3rd game: Heck Freezes Over (Top left vs. Top Right) Third Round (THEME: A bit of Naval why don't ya??) 1st game: Official Tournament map B 2nd game: South Pacific (Bottom right vs Top left) 3rd game: Hammer and Sickle (Bottom right vs. Top left) Fourth Round (THEME: Champions round) 1st game: Offense Defense (Spots must be picked, right vs. left side) 2nd game: Cold War (Top right vs. Top Left) 3rd game: Heck Freezes over (Bottom right vs. Bottom left) FAQ: What if there is a tie game scenario? A: The player with the stretched naval yard will automatically receive a loss UNLESS that player has a drednought and can possibly kill the other opponent. This requires sufficient evidence from both players. The person with the land advantage must provide evidence (Sceenshots) that the player only has a stretched naval yard and has no way of killing his buildings. If the naval stretched player disputes this, he/she MUST have evidence that he could have killed the opponent. In this scenario, a decision will be made solely by me if the competitors cannot work it out. I suggest re-doing the matchup if at all possible, otherwise I will choose a winner based on the evidence. Guys, just don't be douchebags. *Note, the only exception to this rule is me, the host. If a competitor decides to naval stretch me (and thus create a tie game scenario) and we have a conflict. I will automatically receive a loss. This is to prevent my bias from entering such decisions. Q: Who picks spots? A: The first game is random spots. The loser always picks spots going forward. Q: Should I join the tournament If I am not a good player? A: Absolutely! My suggestion to you would be to join the tournament, practice the first round match up maps as much as possible, and give your first round competitor a tough time (and possibly surprisingly defeat him/her due to your practice). This is a chance for you to learn how to compete in 1on1 match ups against other great players. The first round maps are designed to be very simple maps where everybody should have a chance. Q: Help! My opponent engi killed me and engi rushed my base. Can he be disqualified? A: No. Unfortunately, there is nothing I can do to stop people from using these aforementioned tactics. These tactics have always been around and will likely be used by some competitors in the tournament. You just have to be able to defend them as best as possible. Q: Can someone observe my matchups? A: Yes... but ONLY if both competitors agree to letting that person or people observe the match ups. Once both competitors are OK with the observer spectating their matchups, anything the observer says cannot be held for disqualification. Upon completion of any game, if a competitor feels that the observer is being unfair, he may ask for that observer to no longer spectate the games, in which case he must be kicked from the game. We welcome spectators as we want people to be interested in our tournament. This is about giving the community some fun, but if the spectator is ruining the game, he must be kicked. Q: For unforeseen reasons, I must exit the tournament prematurely. What can I do? A: Shame on you. Unfortunately, with the nature of the tournament you will simply be disqualified. Please try as best as you can to NOT have this happen. This lowers the quality of the tournament and gives people free passes. This tournament will likely take roughly 2-3 hours to complete. Please make sure you can play the ENTIRE 2-3 hours+ prior to signing up. How to sign up? I only need one thing from you: Your cncnet log in account name that you will be using to play in this tournament. We need this as once we have all 16 competitors in the lobby at the same time, I will use each competitors nickname to throw into a random generator to generate the tournament bracket. Once the bracket is generated we will immediately play our first round games and the tournament will start. Please, ONLY sign up if you are SURE that you can play for the 2-3 hours required. If you have signed up in this thread, you get preferential treatment and are automatically saved a spot in the tournament. If you do not show up at the scheduled time you will be replaced. Throughout the coming week I will post to cncnet lobby this link to bolster up some hype and get people to sign up. If this tournament is a success, we can do this once a week or once every two weeks!
  13. So, do we think this is due to the server or is it due to the probability of having one bad egg being higher when we have games with 6+ players? It seems to be more of a server issue, which makes more sense to me. If that's the case, that is rather unfortunate. It is not worth spending an hour to get one good game that may last 8-12 minutes.
  14. But... can you give some sort of month as a date instead of "summer" ?
  15. I am posting this to get opinions based on connectivity. I love this game and love playing good games on CNCNet with all different types of players. However, I have noticed that I catch myself swearing up and down the walls as I try painstakingly to get a game of 6-8 players at certain times. During the busier times I can get good working games within anywhere from 2-30 minutes. When it's not so busy, it could take an hour + to get a good game with 6-8 players. The problem usually is the connection. I am talking about when games do not load, recon errors occur in first 30 seconds, game crashes, etc. These types of occurrences can make me good mad. You work hard, collect 5 other decent players over 5-10 minutes of trying and then the game doesn't connect and 3 of them leave. Just now, over the past hour, I had 5-7 games not connect or get a recon error immediately (2 of them reconned). I had 1 game work well and another game worked... but it ended up being 3on1 (me being the 1 vs 3 other good players as my 2 teammates sucked, can't really hold that against the server/game). So roughly 3 out of 4 games did not work for me. This seems a bit high, but in general, roughly 50% of the time, the game does not connect UNLESS I know everybody in the room/friends. So how often do you have problems connecting? IS this a server issue or?
  16. I'd be interested... but what is the date? "Summer" is pretty vague. There's a decent chance I won't be here from June-August.
  17. This didn't happen the first time around. It won't happen this weekend due to an excess of projects on my end. It's something I want to do in the future (get a group of 5-7 fun players and try a mini-4 hour stretch of games like this).
  18. ChallengerX Pro your maps simply kick ass. They have a LOT of creativity and most importantly UNIQUENESS that a lot of created maps don't have. It's quite clear that a lot of time has been spent on this aspect. Some of the maps feel like nothing I've played on before (which is hard to do). Additionally, these maps seem mostly fair and at least within the realm of competitive fights (i.e. the gameplay doesn't diverge into an unlimited money or unfair bout). Incredibly impressive!
  19. Fellows who are interested. This might be pushed back an hour or two. It is an unusually beautiful February night in Chicago (60+ degrees Fahrenheit) and I will be going on a bike ride with the lady for a little while. If you are on when I get on, I'll make an announcement in the lobby, but I am unsure of when that will be! Enjoy your days, gents.
  20. The problem with crates in this would be that it would lengthen the time of games. Meaning one game might well last over an hour because the last two players are just grabbing crates and camping. If this was the case, I do not think the other 4-5 players would really want to sit for an hour and wait. The goal is to have 6 players compete over 3-4 hours of games to see who can get the most total points.
  21. Thanks Korc for noticing the f*** up on my typo. As of now, I am still looking to get on at the scheduled time and get this thing going. Obviously those who post in here have first dibbs for spots. If we don't have enough I can just ask in lobby for someone who can join in and stay for the scheduled time. It is important that individuals stay for the allotted time so we can keep a good score .
  22. Something like that might work out really well. Something even inter-connected within the client itself would work even better. An ability for someone to create/host a tournament all within the client. Ha, that'd likely be a lot of work....
  23. Damn dude, these forums are useless for community interaction. I think I am going to just collect 5 willing participants in cncnet lobby and go that way for this.
  24. Good thinking FunkyFr3sh, thanks for the suggestion. https://www.timeanddate.com/countdown/generic?iso=20170218T19&p0=64&msg=Prep%27s+Night+of+Lunacy&font=cursive
  25. WHEN?: 02/18/2017 Saturday, CST 7pm-10pm (3 hour time window) WHERE?: CNCNET Server WHAT? 6 Players, FFA, Battle it out repeatedly on different maps in front of a live stream to accumulate points based on standings after each game. I am looking for 5 other competitors who can absolutely confirm that they will be available this Saturday night for a 4 hour time window at exactly 7pm CST to 11pm CST. We will participate in 6 player free for alls on maps like heck freezes over, death pit, custom made maps (global domination), Powder keg, etc. (maps to be determined by host -- me). I would like to have at least one competitor stream the 6 player free for alls. Points will be accumulated based on when you were eliminated. First eliminated = 0 points Second eliminated = 1 point Third eliminated = 1.5 points Fourth eliminated = 2 points Fifth eliminated = 3 points Winner = 4 points I feel like this makes the game extremely important to fight over every last building. Some strategy could come into play as the night goes on in terms of who needs to die first. The settings will be: Short game: ON, MCV Repacks: ON, Superweapons: ON (to ensure speedy games and more strategic warfare). To apply to be a competitor please respond in this post. Also, looking for ONE person to stream. If you are absolutely certain that you can make this time bracket (please check what time it is in your time zone) then apply in this thread. If you apply and cannot make the time bracket, you will be barred from further competitions. Also, apply even if we have enough people as we can always take back ups. Cheers!
