  1. Hi all, here's the situation: Problem: I get a black screen anytime I try to play the game. I can hear noises, but I can see nothing except black. This is a common error, but I've searched many forums and nothing seems to be working. Tried compatibility modes, etc. I have a new computer working with OS Linux version Ubuntu 16.04. I am using a virtual box to use a windows 7 ISO file (note: not using a windows 7 key). I have a NVIDIA GTX 1060 GPU and I am not sure if I fully installed it properly on my Linux. (This could be a potential problem, although I doubt it). How does one get the game to work using windows 7 in the virtual box here? Thank you.

  4. Hi there, Currently there is no official ladder for the CNCNet server. There is work going on and there is a 'trial ladder.' You can check this ladder out here: https://ladder.cncnet.org/#/ Currently, there is an apparent issue with games not recording (hence, why this is a trial version). We are all hopeful that the ladder comes together soon, but it is a community driven effort! For more information check here: https://forums.cncnet.org/index.php?board=123.0
  5. It is in the initial thread. I understand many gloss over it, but it would be nice to get a better connection to ensure tournament success. Being that I don't even play, I don't even know who ujast/nemi, ankarar/gunman, sora/aoi, and a few others even are. Besides the point that Joe is surviving a hurricane right now, so we need at least another week anyway. This will just be a reminder that we are looking for sign ups in this thread to help facilitate who *Actually* wants to participate now that we have the rules and tournament information available.
  6. None of the previously mentioned teams commented on this post assuring me/us that they would be available for this tournament. From the view of this thread, I only have 2 teams. Insaiyan and Pablo and Andy + ZigZag. I prefer to collect around 10-12 teams. And I want the best possible tournament, meaning the best possible players. Some good teams are here, but I think if I wait a week or two more, there will be some other teams of interest to join.
  7. It looks like the deadline to get this done by tomorrow (Friday October 7th) was too ambitious. I'll have to keep open sign ups for the next couple of weeks and this tournament will likely begin closer to November. I've updated the initial thread to reflect this.
  8. Marko, the rules state that all games must be played with natural spots. In stormy weather that means that teams will start together on each side. I've modified my statement on Stormy weather to better reflect this. I see how there could have been confusion.
  9. [glow=red,2,300]2on2 Tournament October 2016[/glow] The aim of this tournament is to showcase incredible teamwork, skill, and traditional Yuri's Revenge game play. We hope that the map list and chosen tournament combatants will provide the community with an excellent stream of games. We already have a few teams signed up. The sign up process has completed. We will be selecting a total of 8 teams. The 8 teams will be selected based on skill, reputation, past tournament activity, and if the combatants have an extensive history of playing as teammates together. We want the best possible teams with the best possible teamwork capability, and teams that we know will play their series in a timely fashion. As this is a 2on2 tournament, a total of 5 players will need to be online to start a series so we will require that you post an easily accessible way to be contacted. Prize Allotment Permitting the donators are true to their word, prize allocation will be a total of $200. $75 to each player of the first place team. $25 to each player of the second place team. Time Frame The tournament will start November 10, 2016. Time frame is subject to change based on demand for the tournament. We expect all applications to be able to play their games within a month of tournament start. Rules On Yuri Yuri will be allowed. Only one Yuri per team will be allowed in any given game. Series format Series will be played as a best of 9. The first team to win 5 games moves on. This will be a double elimination tournament meaning your team will need to lose two series to be officially out. The bracket will be of the form https://www.printyourbrackets.com/8teamdoubleelimination.html. Settings Short game: On MCV Repacks: On Superweapons: On Crates: OFF Destroyable Bridges: ON Multi Engineer: ON Build Off Ally: ON No engi eat: OFF **Please remember to turn ON Build Off Ally for games to be played in the tournament.** Maps The first map will be played on Offense Defense. The losing team of a given game will pick the next map and spots. All spots must be traditional/natural 2on2 spots (example: left vs right on DMZ (NOT top vs bottom)) Maps can only be played one time during any series. Heck Freezes Over (left vs. right) Heck Freezes Over (top vs bottom) (Note: Heck can be played twice in a series) Montana DMZ (left vs right) Dry heat (spots 12 vs. 34) Snow Valley (spots 12 vs 34) Face Down (spots 14 vs 23) Roundhouse kick (spots 14 vs 23) Country Swing (spots 12 vs. 34) Death Valley Girl (left vs right) Heartland (spots 12 vs 34) South Pacific (left vs right) Hammer Sickle (left vs right) Tour of Egypt (left vs right) Double Trouble (spots 12 vs 34) Stormy Weather (top left vs bottom right) Tournament Disclaimers Disconnects during a clear advantage will be viewed as a loss. Spying your ally is not allowed under any circumstances. Alting will not be allowed in this tournament. Streaming For a game to be official, it must be streamed. For competitors looking to play their series, it is a good idea to have/get in contact with at least one of the following. Joe aka [AuF]RuLeR More to be determined prior to tournament start. We will also try and provide commentary for as many matches as possible. If you wish to provide commentary, please feel free to get in touch with one of the streamers. Sign up form If you wish to sign up and potentially play in this tournament, please fill out the form here (copy and paste it). We will accept ALL sign ups until the deadline date. We then will pick the most appropriate 8 teams based on earlier listed criteria. If there is an incredible amount of demand, we will look into holding a second tournament. Player 1: Player 2: Please provide a point of contact for the team (Skype, preferrably): To those who signed up previously,... 10. Yo ZigZag, potentially planning on teaming up with ico for the tourney?
  11. Great news and a very generous donation. Marko and Sunny need to be alerted and a time scheduled that works for both! And we can advertise it throughout the community.
  12. another shot of the clan ladder system. These two SS's were some of the very last months that YR WOL had a clan ladder system that was legit (and not taking over by hacks, although these two months featured many cheats around)
  13. some lobby shots of the YR interface 2003/2004 when bots were starting to take over
  14. Unfortunately, I do not have SS's of the clan webpages (which were absolutely AWESOME by the way). I remember looking through clans and all the names in them and their logos and thought that it was such a cool thing. I do have SS's of old westwood clan ladders and westwood online lobbies.
  15. It is 2016 and YR/Ra2 has been going on for 15 years now. We get new EA sports games that last 1-2 years for comparison. I see no wrong hope here. We can visually see a ladder in progress that is able to take statistics from the games and input them into the ladder. That's pretty remarkable! The thing is, this is a completely community-driven project. This is by the community, for the community, and they are using the best tools they have (note: they don't have EA's ladder system dedicated to them already). You should check things out, as I see you playing more and more often. There is a thriving community amongst cncnet, if you give the community a chance. I know you appreciate excellent YR games as much as I do. Join a tournament! As for the questions, I hope someone can answer them as I am interested in them as well.
  16. I think you will need to take into account a) How many teams you want/think will sign up (I imagine 8 would be the ideal amount). b) Time for the tournament to last A round robin where every team plays each team in a series is wishful thinking just like a manual clan ladder tournament for a month long extravaganza. The best possible tournament is a straight up, 8 team tournament, where every competitor knows exactly who they need to face to advance. This provides closure and quickness to the tournament. A nice addition to this (that isn't to overwhelming for everybody involved) is a loser's bracket or to make the tournament double elimination. This would be my ideal case: http://www.printyourbrackets.com/8teamdoubleelimination.html This way, every team is guaranteed at least 2 series vs two different opponents. It's not overwhelming to the streamers and the 4 people involved. IF you want the tournament to be a success, you need to do it this way instead of a killer month long battle with 100's of games. "Ain't nobody got time for dat." As we've already seen from the lack of activity in the sign up thread, rules thread, and the recent dilemma in the 1on1 thread, things won't progress unless it's very simple to understand. (Think about how long the 1on1 tourney has gone and how much frustration has gone into it from the creator to try to get people to play, now DOUBLE this frustration with trying to get 4 competitors +1 streamer online at the same time for a long series). As for rules: - I like the idea that loser picks map from a selected map pool. Now, I think the map pool should be lowered than it originally was, just because these series are series to 5 instead of series to 7 and I'd like to see more 'professional' level games instead of playing on some random map. -I think Yuri should be allowed, won't really go into further detail, I just see no reason to not allow it when both sides could have yuri. If you want, limit it to 1 yuri per team at most (this way, we won't get borefest from 2on2 all yuri teams). TLDR: Double elimination tournament, 8 total teams (make sure they have a good reputation), and get it going!
  17. Lost points? What do you speak of? There is no ranked games currently. Impersonation will be dealt with. see: https://forums.cncnet.org/index.php?topic=6088.0
  18. I agree that youll need a Yuri to defeat a Yuri in 2on2 combat. My point is that those games are a lot of fun to play and observe due to the great teamwork that is usually needed in that type of game.
  19. I think YES yuri and France should be allowed. In a 1on1 combat, yuri is overpowered and a nuisance to deal with. In 2on2 combat, on YR it offers an amazing array of teamwork. Allieds + Yuri having yuri clone BFs, grinder para, combining units and just makes for insane skilled teamwork. Same thing with Soviets and yuri. Yuri having to takeover teammates units to combat the other yuri. The only thing that would be potentially bad would be 2on2's on any navy map where Yuri can be greatly exploited turning the GG's into 3 minute water spams. I vote YES it should be on. And on the topic of France, who cares? France sucks.
  20. I have a similar reaction to beans, but only certain types and certain times. Approximately once every 6 months I'll have some black beans that cause weird problems (to the point that I can't breath normally). Beans aren't a normal part of my diet, but I have them a few (3-4?) times a month. I enjoy them and have no problems with other types (kidney etc.). Lentils are king.
  21. So, if I don't have Ra2/YR on my Ubuntu distrobution, I would have to find a download link and use Wine /Windows to get it up and running? :o

    Lost Temple?

Yes! that should be the one, although its the Ra2 version. boom! Hell of a fun ffg map. Nice find.
  23. Quickly went through some points of it, excellent stuff! Good representation of game play and the different (amazing) scenarios that 6-8 player games represent.
