Have to agree with Kink's logic that if it is possible to implement an ignore function that trumps banning the person substantially at this age of YR. Now cheating/hacking is a bit of a different story... You have to work a bit hard to find a working trainer on YR CNCNET... You damn well know what you are doing.
-
Congrats on the progress and thank you for the update(s). Cheers

Really fun map, shouldn't be TOO hard to find if you look around enough. I know it was common on Ra2 XWIS for a little while this past year. Saw it on YR CNCnet a few times, I think.

It's pretty simple: Do not cheat and do not glitch the game, and you are not using frowned upon tactics. What you did was a highly sound strategy (spied his necessary power) to defeat a camper. He was simply mad. Some tactics that are borderline: Engi-killing: This occurs on a map such as Official Tournament Map B when there are 2 distinct spots for oil derricks. Generally, it is considered 'fairer' to give one side to each opponent. However, if you are aggressive and decide to go after all of the derricks and successfully kill the opponents engineers you now have a very large (And to some, an unfair) advantage. The reasoning behind this is simple, the game should not end in the first 60 seconds due to dog-luck. However, you be the judge, lame or not? Would it be better to not have oil derricks? Beats me. This is a long issue in the CnC community! Engi-Rushing: Engi rushing is when you load up an IFV or Flak trak with an engi and rush the enemy early in the game (first 2-3 minutes) and try to steal their critical structures. This is considered lame because it is often difficult for players to stop and avoids the usage of actual tanks or "skill". ALTing players buildings: This is a borderline glitch of the game. To alt, you take your army of tanks (usually rhino tanks) and hold alt and press a building that uses an opening such as a war factory or ore refinery. This will result in the enemy trying to kill your tank on top of their building, thus killing his/her own building. Some others, but now I have to go . Good luck.
-
What are you even getting at? It's simple: You disconnected in a 6 player game after getting owned, rather quickly, forcing all 5 of us to wait 35 seconds. I don't view that as a serious problem, just a lack of respect. Perhaps if you had more maturity, you wouldn't attract these 'spammers', is all I am suggesting.
-
That would be fantastic, but I've never seen it done... this leads me to think that it is not possible without patching?
-
Just confirming the errors in this thread. It is quite buggy.
-
Great work! Hopeful to get a great clanning system as that is very important for the yuri's community.
-
V3, you would have better success against spammers if you did not disconnect games after failing to succeed with an engi rush and 2 gi ifv rush. If you simply said 'gg' and quit, then one might not have the intention of spamming you further. In any event, I'm going to chalk it up as as maturity-builder since I enjoy your games when you host and hope that you don't proceed to disconnect in the future.
-
Heldro is correct. It will likely take money incentive to make a tournament a success.
-
Far too many errors that make the game almost unplayable. In games where we are trying to get more than 5 players in or so, everybody has bugs where they can barely switch their colors/spots/teams without long delays. Recon errors exist on transfer maps about 80% of the time. Chatting is still a pain in the arse as it cuts off your chat in the game lobby and I think in the chatroom lobby as well. I know you guys are working on it and I can't personally do much to help, but here's to hoping that things develop sooner rather than later as it is a very buggy situation right now.

The Red Alert 2 balance suggestion thread (Made for funsies)
XXxPrePxX replied to Philpy95's topic in Red Alert 2
After careful consideration, there is too many logical fallacies in the past few posts for me to even consider wasting more than 5 minutes in a reply. However, I did want to point out one blatant error and a few other comments. This game has nothing to do with what I stated. 1. It is a 2on2 match. 2. It is on a created map that is larger and more expansive (and more easily obtainable resources) than just about every westwood original map. 3. I never made the claim that it does not happen. It certainly can happen. It's just extremely rare, and in my case, has just about never happened. You are far too smart to continue to produce logical fallacies over and over throughout this thread, so I am going to assume you are trolling and not waste my time. The empirical fact is that a significant amount of rank 1's are soviet/yuri focused. For someone who loves to 'go to the stats' as you've done several times in this thread to justify your statements, you must accept that. Is it fair for me to set up a challenge in the lobby with the claim that soviets are best, beat 10 newbs, and then conclude that Soviets are the most overpowered team? That's not how this works. You can't open a challenge to make your claim any more true. There's years of statistics here. Weather storm in comparision to the nuclear missle and psychic dominator. The weather storm is the slowest of the three as when it hits, it sends lightning bolts instead of an instant attack as the other two. This allows the player to use force field much easier. The weather storm leaves no after effect like the nuclear missle, and it has no special bonus like the dominator does as the dominator takes over the enemies units in a small range. Therefore Nuclear missle and dominator are much, much preferred options. You are right, there was a contradiction there. What I meant was that, in a situation that a player does obtain a chronosphere and the necessary time to build an army, a chronosphere attack can be deadly. There's no doubt about it. The problem is, that will never happen vs a good soviet player in a 1on1 on any normal map. Oh God, I've spent too much time at this. I hate this game. -

Alex you seem infatuated with this myth that the Chronosphere is an overpowered attack. I'm not sure if it's highly calculated trolling on your behalf or simply a lack of logic. The chronosphere is the second weakest super weapon out of the 6. The only super weapon weaker is the other allied super weapon, the weather storm. 1. The c-sphere has a time wait of 7 minutes instead of the 5 minutes that the similar super weapons receive. This is absolutely crucial. Even simply for the fact that an enemy will have 2 extra minutes to try and kill the allied player before chronosphere use. 2. Whilst a perfect chronosphere attack may be one of the most powerful immediate attacks in the game, there is a great chance of failure with the chronosphere attack. The mutator is basically a perfect attack always as it has great control, the iron curtain is extremely versaitle and generally easy to use, the chronosphere has a high rate of failure. Trying to chrono enemy tanks to water is almost always a failing option (permitting that the enemy is of high skill level and actually moves his tanks around). If you are trying to eliminate a tank force with the chronosphere, it can only be considered a real success if you get 5+ tanks (really, probably more like 7-9 but this also depends on gameflow). On the other hand, if you are trying to use the chronosphere to attack an enemy, then you have to deal with force field + desos or other units in the base. Yes, I admit that a chronosphere attack is generally pretty successful, but, it is also incredibly predictable. Finally, the bottom line is: How often is the chronosphere used in rank games of high level play compared to the iron curtain? I can tell you that the chronosphere is virtually NEVER used against me in 1on1 games on high level of play. This is because allied players never get the chance to use it. They are constantly defending, defending, defending, and then hit and running. If an allied player has the time to make a chronosphere and actually use it vs you in a 1on1 game as a soviet, then you have strategically failed miserably. I wish that there was advanced statistics for this type of thing, but ask some of the pro soviet players (Marko, Tomi, Mikoz, Tim, etc.) how often they lose a game to the chronosphere. I bet that they will have a very hard time remembering a single instance (1on1 combat). Conclusion: In a 1on1 game of high level play, the chronosphere is basically useless. -
Chat seems to be much better! Just had a recon error on the first 'transfer map' that I tried. It was a 6 player game on a new map. Recon occurred in the first 2 seconds of game play, and we ended up not being able to get a game started. Good luck and thanks for update(s).

The Red Alert 2 balance suggestion thread (Made for funsies)
XXxPrePxX replied to Philpy95's topic in Red Alert 2
Yuri on Isle of War is an absolute joke. By stealing ore miners, he means magnetroning them on to the cliff aka that entire ore patch for the other player is a death pit. A boomer, that is undetectable, will be at your base before you get a battle lab. The only hope is an all out rush and to pray that the yuri player does not have a magnetron on the cliffs (otherwise your fucked), oh, and you better bring your mcv so he does not kill it with boomers or just navy stretch + boomer gg. The infinite money he talks about is the super weaponing mutator grinding of iniates + cloning vats + slaves. It's not exactly infinite money but on many maps it makes yuri unbeatable long game. So, if you do somehow last out hte boomer rush, the mags on cliffs, the Yuri will have unlimited money going while you have nothing on a map like Isle of war. It's just a fact that over 50% of the maps are easily dominated by Yuri, and another 35% are strongly in Yuri's favor, and the rest Yuri has a good shot on. -
Quite frankly, there is a lot of errors right now on the red alert 2 client. Some are making it an unbearable experience: 1. Often, after I quit the client, my cursor in firefox is messed up. I have to restart firefox to get it working. This may not be fixable, but worth mentioning. 2. Almost always when I play a created map that needs to be transferred it results in a recon error in the first 5 seconds of gameplay. This is concerning because new players then just leave and after waiting 10 minutes for a game to have to wait again it makes playing created maps a pain in the arse. 3. When chatting in the game room (and other lobbies), the chat cuts off text after a few words. This is blisteringly annoying when trying to get messages across. Makes it not even worth the while. 4. The general slowness of everything is really killing the experience. I join a game, it takes 15-30 seconds for everyones countries, spots, etc. to load up. I select "Iraq" and it takes an additional 10 seconds to register that request. It's rather annoying when people are trying to get games going and I'm not sure what team/starting point I have because it labels me as "???" even after clicking "iraq". 5. On that note, it seems that when I press things like country: Iraq or "I'm ready" button, it doesn't register on my end (I can't see the change) but the host can and it goes through.

Whats with all the Recconection errors all the time ?
XXxPrePxX replied to vandalaslt's topic in Red Alert 2
I get quite a few recon errors usually involving a new map, likely from loading it. In fact, playing against someone in some one on one's on created maps I got the recon error first time, we immediately replay it and it works. My thinking is that this is due to the transfer process of the map. -
Another point on France is that France receives it's "lame" reputation from crates games. Yeah, in crates games, France is a very tough opponent, maybe the toughest. Because it can sit in a circle with unlimited cannons and power because it can use a chrono legionaire to bounce all over the map and find funds. But outside of crates games, France is just not as good as some people seem to think.
-
1. France is considered a lame country by many players, primarily the ones that aren't as skilled as the very top players. 2. Not many have used France in ranking games. To expand on part two and why France is not 'lame' in ranked games: France has the problem of being a lottery team. I played France in the ladder for quite a while on YR XWIS and achieved many top 5 finishes with them. On some maps and situations they are absolute gold. France is very good vs yuri on some maps, and others it is a death sentence. Think: Offense defense vs Yuri as france is Awesome. Stretching to the yuri's base with cannons on a map that has that type of economy is a match made in heaven for France players. The opposite is something like Blood feud where there isn't enough economy to build up a force, plus build cannons, plus the extra power needed to stop Yuri. If you build a cannon, he will have supers + ufos, etc. Another strategy with france that I employed was the engi ifv + cannon ready. This also works especially well vs. Yuri since gatting cannons cost $1000 and a Yuri player wont necessarily have one for an engi, so you engi their extra oil derrick on a map like GSF, put a cannon up and you control the map / hopefully kill his whole army since Yuri tanks are weak. But the problem with France is that the soviets still own it. Rhinos are strong, conscript bombed flak traks take out the cannon, etc. In any 1on1 ranked game, if the France player has time to build cannons and a strong enough force to where it is a problem, then you are doing something terribly wrong as a soviet player. The France player often has to make up his/her mind on whether he's going to go with Cannons + grizz + rockies or a more tech-up based plan with few or no cannons. It really only works in certain maps, and still, the soviets have the advantage. As a soviet player, I will take a cannon player spending $2000 on a cannon and $$$ on power over a random gi paradrop any day.

Some weird opinions in this thread. 1. We have to establish differences in Ra2 vs. YR, there are major gameplay issues. The tiers may be the same/close to the same, but they are that way for different reasons and different emphasis is needed. 2. We have to establish the difference between a high level of gameplay vs. a lower level of gameplay. Discussions on balance like this are highly dependent on just how well you can use the units and strategies. For example, in a lower level game, the allieds are more powerful as the soviet "newb" won't know how to defeat the various units (think: ever seen soviet players throw their group of rhinos into an army of mirages??). With that being stated here is my tier list: Red Alert 2 Tier 1: Iraq (relatively high above) Tier 2: America Tier 3a: Korea Tier 4: Great Britan and France, rest of Soviet teams (cuba, Russia, Libya, with cuba a slight advantage) Tier 5: Germany Reasoning: Iraq is the strongest team in the game, by far. The desolator neutralizes the allied forces late game, and the soviet rush early game is enough to put most allied players out of commission on 85% of the maps. Obviously, a naval war on depth charge does not favor any soviet team, but that's one small instance that generally isn't played in ranked games. Most of the rank 1's in history have been Iraq, by a far amount. Most of the top 10's in history have played as Iraq. The best players ever have generally played as Iraq (with a few exceptions - Veg and W0nna come to mind firstly). I think siralex is trolling you guys in his posts as he should know the advtanges of the soviet superweapons vs. the allieds. The allieds, most of the time, aren't even fortunate enough to get a superweapon up and running. This happens virtually never vs me (or any highly skilled soviet). Also, people having high praise for France and I think this is a poor choice. France is great in particular circumstances, but these circumstances happen around 50% of the time and you have to be a very unique player to use it properly and to its advantages. Especially on red alert 2 where tanks build faster and eco is more important, france is at a great disadvtange vs any competent soviet player. Also, France is weak against other allied players. Yuri's Revenge Tier 1: Yuri (this is not even close / up for discussion, yuri has been banned on 80%+ of the maps in ranked games since wol redirection. The yuri team makes a semi-newb into a tough opponent) Tier 2a: Iraq Tier 2b: America Tier 3: Korea, Great Britan, France Tier 4: Rest of soviets Tier 5: Germany Iraq is still the strongest in the game and in YR it has many new great weapons that help where it needs help most - siege choppers, boris, and even battle bunkers are useful. Siege choppers in particular are incredibly useful. The allieds also receive a boost in the battle fortress and the slower gameplay / tank build. The guardian gi unit is also well equipped to help stop the soviet rush. Once again tho in ranked settings, Iraq is the team to use as the desolater is still extremely strong, although somewhat neutralized by an equipped battle fortress. The iron curtain keeps the tide in favor of Iraq. Admittedly it is much closer in YR in comparision to Iraq vs. America in Ra2. Finally, America is the #1 team as allies due to the strength of GI's on YR and the ability to be useful on any map vs. any side. Korea is particularly stronger against soviet opponents rather than allieds. Great Brittan and France are also more useful in YR than they are in Ra2 as the slower gameplay and easier eco allows France players the time and money to build more cannons etc. Neither team is comparable to Yuri's strengths.

Ra2 YR: Cncnet prep vs 7 brutal enemies: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q8dmPTNGz7k&feature=youtu.be This video, with commentary, highlights CNCNET's additional options/maps to the user (20,000 credits instead of the original limited 10,000). Good gameplay. Ra2 YR: 4on4 on Offense Defense, SW ON: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rTl-Z1ScRtA This game is the one I alluded to earlier in this post. Superweapons on make for great fun. The problem here is that our team ended up all soviets which is a disaster on this map vs. a mixture of factions. Highly enjoyable game to play, tho. Ra2 YR: 4on4 on Offense Defense, SW OFF: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3V7rRkT93OE This is probably my favorite game I recorded last night. Great teamplay all around, and it features light blue making a Great Wall of China that... actually works out very well. The only downside here is the lag that this game endured. Ra2 YR: TOE 3on3 with SW : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ed261t4qAok This is a bit of a beatdown as the other side had 2 allied players and got a Yuri from going random. Yuri on this map is extremely hard to face off against due to cliffs and inability to reach his base. Ra2 YR 4on4 Near Ore Far: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jkEw4VbUxUA This is pretty great game. Here, I am teamed with my real life brother and my real life friend (purple) and Auf Ruler. Due to this, we have a pretty weak team, but we fight hard and it produces a decent game. SW's are off. I won't be replying to post or PM's as I attempt to uninstall/quit Ra2/YR life for now. Neo, you are free to use the videos as you see fit. Thank you CNCNET for these wonderful games.
-
Yes, you can certainly use them. I may be getting up a better one tonight tho. A big 3on3 or 4on4 with some friends.

Nyer, what do you mean? Care to explain ?

CNCNET Game on monster map: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mlp1OI71kN8 Subpar game, but promoting the cncnet server. ^^ CNCNET dry heat games, 2on2 (3 games) : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iCzCOQ4MNkg One moron : mynameispax brought some entertainment. CNCNET 2on2 on Beach Frontier: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ht8B-rOvbSI Decent gameplay.

Good idea, but to me it is utterly boring unless you add in another aspect: Infantry --> dogs for fodder. Mashing tanks together isn't as fun as great micro management with tanks + fodder
