I do think the thread has too hastily locked in the shadow of a similar thread. It is fine to discuss which players is the best, but do so in a calm manner. The thread has been unlocked, but keep it calm and collected, make it a discussion not an excuse to throw insults at each other.

If you disconnect a lot try hosting a game through a different tunnel server. Either the tunnel you keep playing through is unstable or you are playing with people who have an unstable connection. When playing games throughput doesn't matter as much as latency and connection stability.

If you use the TS-ddraw renderer the game is more prone to crashing on certain systems. Try another renderer.

It is also available from the launcher you use to start the game. Unless you are not using the beta version I linked to.

Go to the options tool and change renderer to TS-ddraw

C&C Reloaded is a RA2/YR mod and RA2/YR is currently only supported by CnCNet 4 (CnCNet 5 support is slowly coming along). Custom tunnel servers are only available with CnCNet 5. Have you tried running CnCNet 4 in tunneled mode? If you want P2P mode have you forwarded port 8054 UDP on both the router and PC firewall? Are you trying to simply play a LAN game (you are both in the same house) or play through the Internet? The network status is: http://cncnet.org/network-status-4

In 1998 Westwood Studios sold themselves to Electronic Arts (EA) as the then publisher of Westwood's games; Virgin Interactive were selling off their assets in the US. Fast forward to 2002 EA decides to close down Westwood and integrate parts of it in to EA Pacific (later EALA). XWIS (Extended Command & Conquer Westwood Online Internet Relay Chat Server) started off as a community effort by Olaf van der Spek in "the ending years" of Westwood Online (WOL) to create a safer, moderated and more supported server for Red Alert 2. Since XWIS is a WOL emulator it also supported TS and older games as well. A few communities popped up to support their favorite games (such as Strike-Team). After EA closed down Westwood they decided to shutdown WOL as well. As a measure to keep the games somewhat running EA decided to partner with XWIS.

Unfortunately we cannot moderate the chat at all times. We have life to live, work to do, or classes to attend to. Every moderator and CnCNet team member is a volunteer. We dedicate our own free time to keep these games running, to upgrade them and maintain them. We would like to have moderators in chat 24/7 to keep the chat free of racism or inflammatory behavior, but finding trustworthy people willing to dedicate their free time to this is hard.

This thread is 3 months old and what happened yesterday has nothing to do with this topic. What happened yesterday is that we moved the site to a new server.

TS partially works on Win8 with TS-ddraw.

That was on theroyalmails twitch tv that's not cncnet. My and others PM inboxes say otherwise.

weaveR you spammed PM system with tons of torrent links and was reported several times for it.

The logo of "The Red Alert" is a recreation of the original Red Alert logo by "CnCLabs". I'd advise you to change your logo and use the original RA logo or a recreation of your own. Using The Red Alert's logo might indicate that your mod is a mod of The Red Alert (a RA3 mod) and not the original Red Alert. Otherwise there is no problem.

If there's interest and people find out how to support EBFD on CnCNet, a poll for EBFD will show up too. Think of it as a way to check interest for EBFD, but ultimately it is the same as voting "Maybe" which will be a 50-50 split between Yay and Nay with the end result for EBFD counted as yes in a future poll for it if relevant.

I'm all for helping newbs out, but insulting them is not a good way forward. Some people come directly from singleplayer and others may not have played TS or any C&C or even RTS game before. Be nice to newbs, they are the pros of tomorrow unless they are met by a wall of elitism.

The style for this forum will change one day, but for now enjoy the C&C95 style.
