  1. Yeah this is not new information. People figured this out 18 years ago basically. Even the Red Alert archive mentions it and it can be done with other units at well.
  2. This might fix it in fullscreen: Go to settings -> YR and check use graphics patch.
  3. The YR client currently only has the ability to use tunnels. In the future it will have support for peer to peer among other features.
  4. You seem to have a very restrictive NAT. Tunneled games seem to work though unless you have some issue with those. To get P2P and Self-hosted working you need to open some ports. I'm pretty sure FunkyFr3sh can elaborate.
  5. Jumping in with some real life stuff here not very relevant, but for those who want to know: The "MRLS" in C&C is clearly based on the M270 Multiple Launch Rocket System. The MLRS is based on the chassis of the M2 Bradley Infantry Fighting Vehicle. The M270 has two slots: A slot can either be fitted with 6 rockets filled with different types of ammunition (most of the time armed with cluster munitions) or 1 ATACMS missile with varying ammunition. Firing "normal" rocket https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/f/f7/Army_mlrs_1982_02.jpg Firing ATACMS https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/d/d6/ATACMSMay2006.jpg The "SSM" as depicted in C&C doesn't exist. Though all MLRS in real life are SSM's firing from the surface to the surface. The MLRS cannot fire at or target aircraft, but low flying ones could potentially be hit by one if they are unlucky.
  6. Abandonware is not a legal status and software considered to be abandonware still enjoys the same protections under the law as any proprietary work. The closest you get to it in law is the term "orphan work" a work which the owner is not known. "Orphan works" are still under copyright, but the copyright offices in certain countries allows you to pay a fee to use them.
  7. Dune Legacy is not a Dune 2 mod it's a Dune 2 clone. I have only tried Dune Dynasty http://dunedynasty.sourceforge.net/ it is based on OpenDune a reverse engineered recreation of Dune 2. Dynasty ads things like multiple unit select and things like that and supports sound packs or MIDI but is otherwise faithful to the original game, even uses the original files. Dune 2 The Maker is pretty cool too with higher res graphics and fancy explosions it is yet another clone though not reverse engineering the game.
  8. Welcome, I merged your topic with the introduction one. By the way your signature is 44 pixels too tall.
  9. If EA decides to release the game as freeware we will surely put up a download for it. Until then we cannot.
  10. Red box you say? (Click for fullsize) Crappier lighting in this pic so less detail Heh, both the European versions and the North American versions come with ad for Lands of Lore 2.
  11. Found the picture (Click for fullsize)
  12. Almost 20 years ago as RA was released in 1996. I have the field manual too it's pretty neat it came with the game originally. I have the official strategy guide too. I think I have a picture of that RA stuff somewhere.
  13. This might need a step to take care of running .NET applications in Wine for CnCNet.
  14. You might need to right click on C&C95.exe (cnc95.exe for CnCNet), click on properties, go to compatibility and check "Disable display scaling on high DPI settings". Otherwise the game might "scale itself out of your monitor". If this isn't the problem then you might have turned off the sidebar as Plokite_Wolf said.
  15. Probably because your screen DPI is set too high. Go to the folder you installed RA find "ra95-spawn.exe" right click on it, click on properties and check "Disable display scaling on high DPI settings". If that doesn't work right click on the desktop click on "display" and drag the slider under "Change the size of text, apps and other items:" all the way to the left then log out and log in. This might take text small and hard to read though depending on your monitor.
  16. I had some issues starting it at first too, but for me first launch took a while for some reason. It was launched normally ever since.
  17. People who cheat should be punished and the cheat prevented from working. Banning does work to an extent, anti-cheats work to an extent. In an ideal world games would be secure enough so that no cheat would work. This however is not quite possible; people make mistakes. In CnCNet's case it is even harder because there is no access to the source code of the games. If a ladder is going to be taken seriously it has to be moderated. If a game is popular enough people will volunteer to do so. I think an auto screenshot system could work. Maybe screenshots taken several times from all angles of the game at random intervals. It will be a good tool to those who moderate. If nothing is done cheaters will destroy the games ladder or no ladder. As cheaters have done many times before. The main reason people migrated to XWIS from WOL 11 years ago was because it was actually moderated. Cheating on WOL was common in it's last years of operation. XWIS didn't even require a valid CD-key back then and yet cheating was less common. That being said evading conventional bans is easy and thus applying monetary value to something does prevent some people from cheating as it basically means that if they are caught they loose money.
  18. This topic has been moved to CnCNet Discussion. [iurl]http://cnc-comm.com/community/index.php?topic=4209.0[/iurl]
  19. 1. It depends on where the cargo plane comes from and where the airstrip is placed. 2. Because Nod can build Rocket Launchers. Like they can build APC's.
