TL:DR version: CnCNet 5 is awesome! Took a long time to make and test! TS and RA2 not supported yet! Download here! After over a year of work and testing CnCNet 5 has finally been deemed stable enough for an official release! Compared to CnCNet 4, CnCNet 5 is coded from scratch and takes advantage of the online systems Westwood implemented into the games. CnCNet 5 has a external lobby system which gets rid of the old and buggy LAN lobby. No more games disappearing or glitches related to kicking people from the game. You can also say good bye to lag caused by the LAN netcode as previously hinted to CnCNet 5 makes use of the WOL netcode making games go smooth. CnCNet 5 works perfectly despite closed ports due to the improved tunnelling system which also lets multiple people in the same household play with people online. The CnCNet 5 lobby uses an IRC server which allows you to send private messages, make passworded lobbies game and to communicate with players. You can connect using a normal IRC client as well, but you won't have any game functionality. Currently CnCNet 5 supports Command & Conquer and Command & Conquer: Red Alert. Support for Command & Conquer: Tiberian Sun is in the works as is other Westwood Online enabled games, maybe even a game where you fight over a certain "waterless world". Below are a list of changes to the individual games: Command & Conquer - Over 160 maps to choose from by default. - New option: Auto Crush Infantry - New option: MCV Undeploy - Automatic transfer of custom maps - No limit on starting money Command & Conquer: Red Alert - Over 430 maps to choose from by default. - Automatic transfer of custom maps - Choose starting location - Choose alliance - New option: Fix Formation Exploit - New option: Fix Range Exploit - 12 other new game options - Automatic transfer of custom maps - No limit on starting money Command & Conquer: Tiberian Sun - Not yet supported, use CnCNet 4 in the mean time. - Iran is working on it with help from CCHyper! If you are interested in following development look here: http://www.ppmsite.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=498086 Command & Conquer: Red Alert 2 - Not yet supported, use CnCNet 4 in the mean time. - Needs a developer, if you are interested go to irc.freenode.net in the channel #cncnet. CnCNet 5 would not have been possible if it weren't for the hard work of hifi (backend), FunkyFr3sh (frontend) and Iran (tons of new features in the games). Features such as ladder etc will come soon. CnCNet provides ready to play versions of both Command & Conquer and Command & Conquer: Red Alert.

Try this installer: http://tore29.com/tsins/TSinstaller-beta7r4.exe It's a beta so it might have some issues.
-
Pretty cool, something seems a bit wrong with the road perspective though.

It doesn't use the graphics patcher, you could try and patch it with it to see if performance is better. On Win7 and Vista it uses ddwrapper which has the same effect as the graphics patcher, but on Win8 it uses some sort of Windows port of Wine DirectX to make the game work.

You get that when you try and run TS from the launcher? Most of the time that error is a permissions related error which is solved by running the game as admin.
-
That's strange. Try and see if this beta version of the TS installer works: http://tore29.com/tsins/TSinstaller-beta7r4.exe (Note that this new one is based on the CD version of TS so you have to download the movies again, the older one uses TFD/freewareTS), has some stuff in it that might make it work on Win8 too, maybe. I need to finish the new one soon. Will probably have time when X-mas break starts.

Get this version of RA: http://cnc-comm.com/community/index.php?topic=2505.0 Easy to set up, and you can patch your TFD RA or install it in another folder if you like.

It used to have. The Dune galleries is all that remains though.

Welcome Morphosis. I merged your topic with the welcome topic.

Then I'm affraid that we will have to send in a SWAT team to extract a picture.

Yup, there are definenently homages to C&C in UaW.

:picsnow: I haven't used that smiley in ages Adding the map as an attachment is a good idea too. So it isn't randomly deleted by filehosting sites and such.

Do you feel like making a darn good C&C1, RA1, TS or RA2 singleplayer map or a series of singleplayer maps and win some PC games? Well then, head over to this thread at Project Perfect Mod for more info.

What's why I said "sparked", not "popularized". RA1 was the first RTS game to have any sort of competitive movement. Most competitive RA players moved to StarCraft when it became popular.

A long time has passed since there was any real update about CnCNet 5 so here it is! As you might or might not have been aware. CnCNet 5 has been in a unofficial testing phase for a long time now. Slowly but surely CnCNet 5 is becoming the network the classic C&C community deserves. While hifi and others have been at work getting the server side of things ready FunkyFr3sh has been making a "unofficial official" client to bring CnCNet 5 to the community. The client is filled tons of great features made possible by FunkyFr3sh, Iran and others. Let's go through a list of features the current test version of CnCNet 5 has over CnCNet 4. - Improved netcode: CnCNet 5 makes use of a modified version of the Westwood Online netcode rather than the LAN netcode. This makes games much smoother and faster than the old CnCNet 4 method of using the LAN netcode. - Ability to choose tunnel server. A tunnel server allows people who are not able to forward ports to use CnCNet. This feature has been in CnCNet since CnCNet 4, but in CnCNet 5 you can choose the tunnel server closest to you for optimal performance - Host your own tunnel server: If you live in a location far from another tunnel server and you have the bandwidth you can host your own and give players closer to you a better experience. - Make your own CnCNet 5 client: This is very useful for modders. - CnCNet IRC server: This allows for personal messages, proper game lobbies with password option with working kicking functionality and a lot more to come. Features of FunkyFr3sh's client: - Giant database of maps with categories and search functionality - Observer mode for RA1 - CO-OP support for RA1 - Choose team and starting location for RA1 - Map previewes - New game options including "Auto Crush Infantry" and "MCV Undeploy" for C&C1, "MCV Undeploy", "Fix Formation Exploit" and "Fix Range Exploit" for RA plus a whole ton of other options. - Automatic transfer of maps and coming soon: "mini-mods" Features Coming Up for CnCNet 5 - Ranked games and ladder support in co-operation with PlayCnC (- Support for Tiberian Sun and Red Alert 2 if any one is up for the task) If you are interested in trying out the current test version of CnCNet 5 using Funky's client he has ready to go versions of both Command & Conquer (C&C1) and C&C: Red Alert (RA1) available in this topic. Down below you can see screenshots of Funky's client

This day: October 31st marked the release of Command & Conquer: Red Alert. 17 years ago Red Alert sparked the competitive RTS game movement by being the first RTS game with an online component: Westwood Chat. and further popularized the modding of RTS games.

The official CnCNet5 client+game package download thread

Make the buttons red, then it will be fine. -
SMF 2.0.6 is a security update for the forum. Despite being only a security update it seems to have broken some some of the modifications done to the forum. If you find some issues please reply to this topic. The front page also seemed to break after the forum was updated, but that was my fault, I managed to accidentally replace the index.php file with another one, should be fixed now! Known issues: - No editing buttons in Quick Reply

You still can't play TS on CnCNet 5, but you can on CnCNet 4.
-
Try if this one works better: http://tore29.com/tsins/TSinstaller-beta7r4.exe The old installer I made has some issues. The options program is unfinished, which is the reason why it isn't displayed in the downloads. And it needs some more testing.

Where did you get TS?

Could you provide more info? Like what version of Windows do you use?
