  1. I'll be looking to do some maps this week! Kind of late on the work, eh?
  2. Good to see you map making again! I've always loved your maps.
  3. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8XbOhvTk1PU Here's a FFA that I played last night with some folks. Live commentary, woo!
  4. I'm looking for some players willing to get together and we'll do some show matches. Any specific players you'd like to see verse each other? Let me know if you'd like to be on the channel too! A little note: my old channel is gone forever. There is no chance for recovery for it, which is disheartening to me. But we're going to have to keep moving forward. I'll try my best to put out some new content for the rest of this year. The matches don't necessarily have to be anything super try hard, it can even be for fun. Not only that too, but you'll be able to see how you play from another perspective. Channel is here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCD5FK0IDOOdjiwevdlslLkA Again, the old channel is gone so no specific URL. Cheers.
  5. @chem Here you go my dude! 1. Open CnCNet. 2. Login as usual. 3. In the top left, click Settings, then CnCNet. 4. Under Sounds, uncheck specific alerts you don't want to hear. Check the ones that you do. 5. Click OK.
  6. 1 and 2: Main Army 3: Army 4: Aerial units/special units 5 and 6: Usually for Orca split It really depends, but that's sometimes and usually how it goes for my control groups.
  7. Most I've used it about 5-6. About every game, I use 3.
  8. I would agree on MRLS on Radar. I wouldn't mind seeing Apache's stay the same if the AGT got a buff against air. I'll join in... -MRLS to Radar -AGT buff, against air mostly -Light Tank, potentially slight HP buff All I can think of at this moment.
  9. Looks like someone's throwing a tantrum. I think you need a timeout mister.
  10. This will be fun! Give me a second while I polish my hammer real quick.
  11. I never had one on that topic, nor do I think I would ever. I'm sure I was venting something of that regard at one point.
  12. @chem I honestly think you played it pretty spot on. Staying defensive behind your turrets was the right thing to do in the center tiberium field. The only portion I think where you could've improved was expanding your economy down in the bottom right. I think if you kept expanding, it would've been extremely even. You had great positioning which I think deserved to be highlighted. You weren't overeager to attack, you were simply holding a position and essentially stating, "If you attack into me, you're going to lose." In fact, I think this really highlights your defensive play-style. I've noticed you generally play like this in most of the games we've played. It's actually a very effective style, especially with Nod. Light Tanks are better defensively because they last longer in a fight, although the cost is something to think about. I think the only portion where you can improve, at least in that game, would've been to expand bottom right. Also, incorporate Recon Bikes to attack expansions, while keeping the Light Tanks at home. Use the Recon Bike's speed to your advantage. Cheers.
  13. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Or3Vpt3ugrU Here's a great game between me and @chem. Enjoy!
  14. I think if you were to build an Obelisk, you might have to put some sort of obstruction in front of it. For example a building, terrain, or even walls. I'd recommend also target firing certain tanks with the Obelisk so it doesn't attack infantry.
  15. Yeah, double elimination is the way to go. It's how we did it on our very first one way back in the day.
  16. I was thinking more towards a seeding type system, rather than voting.
  17. Since there's been a lot of discussion about it. I've been thinking about hosting it.
  18. Good idea. Let's start getting opinions from everyone and then as a community decide what would be good, and what would not. A good place to start is showcasing a map screenshot, and then outline the points you described. With that said, I also was thinking of a simple veto system as well. I agree with your last point. I agree, especially with your APC point once you're around the $5,000 mark. Although, on the flip side, having a low starting economy does force slow starts. So essentially you'd be seeing massive Refinery production much later, and not as quickly. For example, someone who may do a quick APC Engineer rush will be behind if it's successfully defended. Although, your main point still stands as the APC early on is extremely strong against infantry. Valid point, absolutely. As for the post-game report, I don't have the experience necessary to be able to have a say in that. I don't personally seeing it being a thing since there isn't much incentive for it.
  19. Absolutely great discussion in this thread. I think map choice plays a big role within hosting a tournament. It really determines the types of games you'll be seeing, as well as the quality of them. It would be interesting to see a map with very limited resources, for example, a standard Westwood map, as micro choices and unit losses would be more impactful. Now in comparison to something like one of those 64x64 maps filled with tiberium, not so much. It wouldn't be a bad idea to start thinking about map design at this point as well. I'm thinking more towards the lines of scarce resources and terrain advantage points, where controlling certain portions of the map would make or break a game. I think on one of @AchromicWhite's maps, we had a good example of this while playing with Tiberian Alert rules. Even then, maps like Blistering Sands varies quite differently in comparison to something that of High Tide, where the game style is much different. Although technically, all games end up mostly with the same unit composition, it's mostly the transitions of the build, and the actual terrain variables you have to consider. I could touch on that more. But, moving on for now. As for resolutions, forcing them, and the like. I don't think it would be reasonable to do that, not saying that it shouldn't be enforced, but rather the fact that we have no way of telling what resolution you were playing on after the game has ended. For example, Red Alert 1 has a post-game report after the game has ended. It does include resolution and the sorts, but if we were to do that in Tiberian Dawn, it would be more or less honor bound. But I wouldn't bother honestly. Yes, you can see more portions of the map and so forth, but it does honestly come down to preference as you are aware that you're purposely sacrificing less map vision for comfort. Not only that too, but if you do play on a higher resolution, microing armies can be more difficult for some players. There are many great points in this thread so far, but I thought I'd chime in on some of them. Please let me know if you'd like to know more, as I'm more than open to do so. I think the discussion of starting credits wouldn't be a bad place to start. What do you guys think of starting credits? Are there any certain maps you think should definitely be in the map pool? Let me know what you think.
  20. Chem, I'm going to give you another chance. Now with that being said, I need you to be on your very best behavior. The thread that you made was great, but the fact that you later turned onto everyone afterwards is what is not okay. You need to learn when you're splitting on people and ground yourself in some type of way. Whether it be simply stepping away from your computer, or even doing something as stretching your hands. Go outside your front porch for five minutes, set a timer or whatever, and then come back. You need to know when you need a break. Everyone was agreeing to your statement, including BluySY himself. You just took it the wrong way. The issue is your swapping sides a lot, everyone was with you until you turned onto everyone in the thread to make a personal jab and attack at them, passive aggressively. Whether you agree with that or not, that is exactly how it is perceived. Again, you did it even a second time a little bit afterwards. 1. I am aware of your issues, and I'm making sure to get you back on track. This is a community, and I want you to feel welcomed, which you very much are. But there are limitations on what you can and can't say on CnCNet. 2. Learn ways to realize when you're going to react outwards, in this case, it's typing. It's a great way to cope, but don't direct it to other people. Try writing! 3. I want you here. You're wanted here. I'm going to be watching you closely making sure you don't make any mistakes. Let's work this out, and work our way to a good light. This is not a joke, I'm telling you.
