heh heh I played using the Japanese one.... But then I never knew when I needed a silo, or my base was under attack, etc... It was still freakin cool. Guess I just need to learn Japanese.

what do you think about everyone having to pick "???" as their side? The randomness might mix it up a bit and I think the best players can excel at either faction...

Well, I can only speak for myself. I think it's a great idea, however I know it's virtually impossible for me, these days, to devote a whole day to uninterrupted c&c'ing. I might be able to commit to a couple of games a week at like 2am (-7hrs GMT, I think?) Of course this would stretch things out over a longer period of time. I'd love to do anything to help increase the momentum of TD; that's why I started making all those MP vids a couple of years ago. heh heh maybe I could at least help by busting out my old screen printing shit and making a "2015 C&C/TD World Champ" T-shirt for the 1st prize winner. I'm really curious to hear everybody else's opinion on this stuff. Even if I couldn't participate I think it's worth trying!

Yeah, I probably could've beat you in that last game (on the big circle map) had I not decided to be clever and switch to apache's.... I totally overestimated their effectiveness and underestimated your ability to defend. What I find interesting is that it seems every Nod player goes to Airstrip after only 1 ref. Is this the new normal?

Well, due to the overwhelming response to this post, I guess it's not a priority But it seems pretty much confirmed. Bummer because a close start once in a while mixed it up a bit. I guess that aspect of gameplay has gone the way of the dodo. -

hmmm... celltriggers.. I like this. And the mentioning of infantry regarding celltriggers is a good idea, I always found that kind of annoying. Ok, CT's (0,1,2), U1, Chinooks. I'll save autocreate for another probably. BTW I was curious about the old DOS system of crate pickup=nuke. I don't know if the oldest versions of c&c still exist out there somewhere or if the stuff is buried in the current versions, but do you think there was a specific trigger linked to this or was it likely something hardcoded into the game? -

Okee... So I have lesson 4 up and I was thinking of doing 'autocreate' and Chinooks in the next lesson, but I figured I'd ask for suggestions on what anyone would like to see addressed. Mind you, this is still "scripting 101" at this phase so I don't want to be too complicated, but I'm open to ideas. -

I was absent from cncnet for a while, but I've been playing a little bit more lately and it sure seems like the spawn points are a lot less random. I played the same map like 3 times in a row in a 1v1 and we both spawned in the same place each time. Am I trippin? If something has been done to de-randomize the spawning, can that be optional, or is it a permanent part of the .exe now?

I did, but not for long. And I did it back in 2006 after discovering DOS RA. Win 98 was already out when I was old enough to understand something about the games I have to say that I like busting out the old c&c on dosbox once in a while. It's a completely different experience where you absolutely need the comm center and I find myself paranoid about what's going on just a few cells away! I also like to test my missions on the dos version to see just how insanely hard they are.

Exactly true... in fact I always wanted to add a couple of neutral CYs to the "Great Wall 3 vs. 2" for the SW players to do exactly that. Speed up production but give no mixed tech nonsense! Did you have to hack stuff to give them things to build? Or would you just be able to build huts and stuff? heh heh.... -

Hey thanks, I appreciate your help! btw I attached 2 maps illustrating what we were talking about regarding the "Production" trigger. Both have all 10 houses. The first utilizes the "Time" trigger to stagger each houses' production. They start every 10 time units. i.e. Badguy starts at 10, multi1 at 20 etc. Apparently "Production" doesn't work on Neutral. That was news to me. The second utilizes celltriggers. Goodguy entering the celltrigger only engages Badguy "Production." I even made a bunch of different cell triggers to see if that would change anything. Working on Kilk's map, however, I found that "discovered" is a good substitute.... I hope that all makes sense..... production_tests.zip -
I remember waaay back in the 90's downloading ccmap. I had such big ideas for missions, but didn't even know where to start with the scripting. I read the old version of what became ccmanual.txt and it all seemed like greek to me. Of course since then, I'm no longer an impatient teenager and I've become fairly proficient at the scripting process. Although I've made 30 or so missions, there's still stuff that throws me for a loop! Anyway, I figured I wouldn't keep all this useless information I've learned to myself, so I made some vids: C&C 95 mission scripting tutorial playlist

Well, I'm totally biased and I would always suggest C&C 1. However, if RA2 is what you're used to you may not like the lack of more modern features like build queuing, waypoints, etc. But I do find the level design, unit balancing, and story are the best in the original. -
