Command & Conquer: Dawn of Tomorrow teaser thread
MattAttack replied to Kilkakon's topic in Modding Discussion
Looks cool! I see the café has decay frames. are all the buildings similar? btw love the 'driving on the left hand side' roads.... F.U. 90% of the world! ha ha Oh yeah, my base in the video is for testing purposes, ONLY!! I hate mixed-tech in missions. (unless it's properly justified a la Nod 8.) -
I'm Kilkakon and I approve of this message. okay, buddy pony up.. where's my $50 (US) which if the internet isn't lying to me (and it never does, does it?) would be $65.59 jk :sethisdeath: wow even better emoticons here!

Tiberian Dawn - The Huge Collection (single player)
MattAttack replied to Chimas's topic in C&C Singleplayer Maps
Ah, yes... Airfight is a good one. Unique concept. In fact it inspired me to make a similar mission for my campaign since I've sort of (almost) perfected some of the ideas in it. SPOILER ALERT: the GDI apaches just bothered me, though.. lol -
All credit goes to Nyer for that one. I think he told me he was messing around with the covert ops mission 'blackout' where the player (goodguy) enters a celltrigger to get an airstrike (the one in your sidebar) and he switched the owner of the trigger from 'goodguy' (player) to 'badguy' (the cpu.) When Nod activated the celltrigger, they got they airstrike. doesn't happen immediately-- my guess is that they have to wait for it to charge. They way I did it was to have the airstriking house (multi5 here) reinforce some jeeps when I built a SAM. It occurs at about 1:10 in the video. When the jeeps enter the map, which I quickly switch the view to, they run over a celltrigger. it's basically scripted as follows: Trigger: UTBZ=BUILT IT,REINFORCE.,10,BADGUY,UCOA,0 ****10 signifies the SAM, I am BADGUY and UCOA are the 3 jeeps that reinforce**** then here's the trigger they run over: UUMM=PLAYER ENTERS,AIRSTRIKE,0,MULTI5,NONE,0 where if I changed MULTI5 to BADGUY, the player would get the airstrike if I entered the trigger. totally different from the regular airstrike (which in the video napalms the CY) [TRIGGERS] UUUU=TIME,REINFORCE.,120,MULTI2,A10S,1 [TEAMTYPES] A10S=MULTI2,0,0,0,0,0,7,0,0,0,1,A10:1,0,0,0 Unfortunately, as far as I know, you cannot give them a specific target that you own. I think they more or less follow the same targeting logic as an computer ion cannon/nuke strike. I have to test with Vanilla TD to make sure. I imagine they probably won't specifically target units, either... But I have to test tat as well. AND as far as I know there's no way of stopping them repeating (unlike airstirkes in the regular campaign.) Edit: Yeah, I believe you're correct about that part.. although in the mod (not shown in THAT video), they weren't targeting what I thought they were going to first, but again, I have to test in regular TD. Sorry to be vague, but I don't want to spoil Kilk's WIP Hope that makes sense. And when Kilkakon's mod, "Dawn Of Tomorrow" comes out you should all try it because it's really cool!

I'm making a map for kilkakon's mod and (I think you're already aware) there are several houses involved. I usually try to keep my missions under the 15k limit so they can even be played with dos c&c, but since his mod requires 1.06 and since there are no such constraints, I was trying to use all the tricks in my bag.... Units that come off of LSTs and activate celltriggers to move, helicopter attacks, airstrike superweapon, stacked built it triggers, etc. Also It's several of the factions vs. you so you have multiple prod trigs, autocreate trigs, blah blah blah. I even found a way to have enemy helicopters fly onscreen, attack you and *appear* to fly off of the screen. I finally tested it and it's sheer madness, but for the most part, it all worked! But once again, I hit some sort of cap in this game and had to work around it, but sometimes that's part of the fun! The mod and the map are [glow=red,2,300]WORKS IN PROGRESS[/glow], but here's just a taste of what I'm doing: (it's not going to be this crazy in the end, I was making sure my teams worked) https://youtu.be/QJx6bM5Cv4c

Tiberian Dawn - The Huge Collection (single player)
MattAttack replied to Chimas's topic in C&C Singleplayer Maps
in your opinion, what is the best mission in the pack? Besides one of mine, of course! -
fun fact: it appears the maximum amount of triggers allowed in a .ini is 40! I'm only up to about 32 teams, but I'm guessing there's a similar maximum to that, too

look at you advertizin' and promotin'! good job! -
I remember a couple of years ago I had been sitting on cncnet (cncnet4 that is.. omg!) waiting for a TD game for several hours and there were no players or games to be found. I saw that RA had like 20 games, so I was like "oh well, why the hell not?" I was playing some guy on P4 and holding my own pretty well and I just realized that I was having no fun whatsoever. There was no strategy or tactics, it was just whether or not I could click fast enough. (The regular maps aren't that much better imo; at least there's ore to fight over.) So I blew myself up and went back to staring at the empty TD lobby which was equally fun. I would rather get raped by an engi rush. Sure it pisses me off sometimes but at least it evokes some kind of emotional response. Oh and the elation I feel when someone tries it and I gun them down! "Delicious tears" I think weaveR says... And P4.. that ugly fuckin map.. yech! I'm half tempted just to put some cliff edges or lakes or something other than those rocks on the map, but I doubt anybody would give a crap. Of course this is just my opinion and anybody who is into RA1 totally has the right to enjoy it--- to each his own!

whoo that'd be especially tough against GDI airstrikes.. unless you have a sam or something as the most NW thing

Request for help translating red alert 1 to Spanish
MattAttack replied to Utka's topic in RA Singleplayer Maps
an' is a shortened contracted version of and --note the apostrophe (') so "me an' them" is the same as "me and them" an is the same as a it just depends on the 1st letter of the next word. A for when the next word starts with a [glow=red,2,300]consonant[/glow] and an when the next word starts with a [glow=yellow,2,300]vowel[/glow]. An [glow=yellow,2,300]e[/glow]ngineer vs. A [glow=red,2,300]c[/glow]hinook "Me an' my friend were playing c&c when a [glow=red,2,300]c[/glow]hinook landed in my base, an [glow=yellow,2,300]e[/glow]ngineer was unloaded an' butt raped my construction yard!" -
lol I think we might be a bad influence on you. It's better than joining a street gang though, right? hmmm maybe not

Anyone play victory command by petroglyph games.
MattAttack replied to Liang's topic in Newer C&C games
that looks pretty neat.... also looks like my computer is too crappy to run it lol. Isn't Petroglyph the original Westwood guys? -
I request Nod 7 ec, the one where you have to capture the orca. I always thought that was the hardest stock mission. Although now that I think about it I should probably go back and play it to see if it's as hard as I remember
-
ugh.. I think I need to start responding directly from the thread and not from the 'most recent topics' or maybe just not be a re-tahd....
-
bleep blorp.. sorry, I posted in the wrong thread and dammit, you can't delete it! although, if I remember correctly, they only work in MP, not SP and I think I had to copy and paste some stuff from this forum into my conquer.ini... just search TD hotkeys or something like that. And if I'm just an idiot, someone shoot me... or delete this post. O_o
-
Yeah I never knew about this stuff until I came here either... Now I totally plan to exploit the cash carryover thing in my campaign (which makes use of all this built in logic), as well as purposely exploiting the commando mission alternative winning thing to make make mission 7 a hidden mission. 'Allow win' comes to mind since I guess the airfield being destroyed thing is the ONLY way to skip to mission 8.... right?
-
I always found the most difficult part (primarily for GDI missions iirc) was the relative scarcity of Tiberium. Although I think the only mission that's a challenge to me these days is the Nod mission where you have to hijack the orca and trash the village. Although I think it's been quite a while since I've played through the stock campaigns. After TD I got Red Alert, but it just wasn't as fun of a game to me for some reason. It should've been with all the new features, but it just didn't hold my attention. Then life happened and I didn't really didn't play any more of them. Years later I played RA2 which was kind of fun (still not as much as TD imo) and then Tib Sun which I found to be a huge disappointment. I think it has to do with your age/mindset at the time and I always found TD's units, landscape, graphics (yes, I know ) and perfect balance of sci-fi and real life military weapons very appealing. I'm not trying to be political, but I remember being horrified back in '03 when the US invaded Iraq, but I couldn't stop watching the news footage because I love seeing tanks blow shit up.... thanks, c&c! Although now I know how the AI works, most are incredibly easy (just look at rc1985's speedruns) which is why I started making my own missions. Trying my best to tighten the loopholes and compensate for the AI which appears to have an IQ of -60

Command & Conquer: Dawn of Tomorrow teaser thread
MattAttack replied to Kilkakon's topic in Modding Discussion
ooh green ooze!! Makes me think of Homer Simpson for some reason.... -
I'm not sure if it's exactly the same thing, but I had problems sometimes trying to open the menu ingame where the mouse cursor would not appear to move at all (although I could navigate with the arrow buttons, although it would not APPEAR they were working) I found that disabling ccdraw in the ccconfig.exe and running in 256 color mode helped stuff a lot. For me at least......
-
Oh I think the idea could definitely be executed with perhaps a # bldgs. destroyed+player enters combination or something like that. I think its great to discuss the triggers and whether or not their possible, but I think it's important we're all on the same page regarding what works and what doesn't. I probably spend waaay too much time looking into this stuff... lol.
-
I have found in my experience that a lot of stuff that seems like it should work on paper doesn't quite work out once implemented in a mission. (Although when in doubt, move the trigger/teamtype to the top of their respective lists.) Disseminating information based on incorrect assumptions is a disservice to anybody attempting to understand the already difficult process of scripting of this game. It is not my goal to be 'right' in any ego driven sense, I just want correct information to be available to anybody interested. In fact, I like being proven wrong because I learn stuff from it. Good finding, I think that's a better way. Yeah I'm actually glad the commando doesn't activate the player enters trigger as I feel it would limit your options when coming up with mission goals. [glow=red,2,300]BTW, you need to finish your NOD version of 'twist of fate!' That mission would be sooo cool![/glow]
-
Destroyed however, can be activated by an engineer capture and (obviously) a commando bomb.
-
There's no mechanic in the game to remove the Airstrike superweapon from the player once it's given. Interesting... so that would give you airstrike if you either capture or bomb it with a commando, but if you choose to capture it you'll get A10s attacking you. Okay so for the life of me I cannot get a commando to activate a 'player enters' trigger when it's attached to a building. And I cannot get the 'built it' trigger to work by having an engineer capture an existing structure. I can get 'built it' to work by (A) building said structure or (B) revealing my structure out of the shroud, although I've found method (B) to be unreliable and it doesn't seem to work 100% of the time. Do you guys have any missions I can look at where this stuff works?
