  1. Funny how "7 NEW UNITS!" has lost its meaning over the years.
  2. I too always likes these kind of RTS. One where you actually can upgrade a specific statistic of your unit. However, this is mostly done in board games. And in most cases, the upgrade already takes place in the field. Your best chance of selective upgrades would be Warcraft 3 and some modmaps in Starcaft 2.
  3. Great to see you back. I loved your work. About the updating thing. Having one central site where you upload the pictures. Having one folder with links to all websites. Where you immediately open the fan sites current topics where you normally post these things. Simply open them all, and copy paste the link to the picture to each topic of yours. Most forums have the same layout. So if you want the link to work. Use the same line to copy. I don't know how many sites you normally visit. But I think, not many people will visit the same site on a regular basis just for your work. You need to inform them about new post on a regular basis.
  4. Cranes do not add to building defences. Although, they could have had more durability and costs if you ask me. 1500 instead of 3500 is just way to cheap for a fast start. Ehm... I still base walk towards what is supposed to be my first expand. While I get a conveyor to my what is supposed to be my second expand. I also go 2 factories plus radar, this is often enough base walking. I think we all agree that TW is the easiest of the series. In TD, base walking is hardest too. And the MCV is 5000. Way to much for something that dies so fast.
  5. At least get your hands on C&C3. It has for me the same atmosphere as TD AND TS in certain area's. And you have much more micro abilities.
  6. The efficiency in TS is bugged. (In EBfD as well). You can tell by that it doesn't show any logic, like how you described it. But why even bother? Just look at the time and the number of losses. That is your true score.
  7. It is actually funny how I beat that map. I simply wiped out every thing, except that cabal robot thing. Then amassed those elites that you can build this mission for the first time. I thought, you need these for that robot. So I took out the 2 obelisks and tha robot starts firing tha lazur. Any way, turns out the elites are only durable . So while they where busy dying, which took ages though. I simply mass bombed that robot with any air unit available.

  9. Ok, these 2 things are the same: In TD, we have a light tank of 600 and medium tank of 800. 1 Medium tank can kill 2 light tanks if they approach 1 by 1. In C&C 3, we have a scorpion tank of 800 and a predator tank of 1100. 1 Predator tank can kill 2 scorpion tanks if they approach 1 by 1. Now, when it comes to mass battle's. GDI has it easier in TD and NOD has it harder in TD. Why? The size of the units is 1, always 1. No matter how strong they are, it is one. In C&C 3, the predator tanks have size 11, while the scorpion tanks have size 8. (Perhaps someone can provide with exact numbers) With a size of exact 1, it means that the stronger tanks get that approaching bonus. Thus the medium tank keeps the bonus (in amass, not just 1 v 2) while the predator tank has not. So, if TD was the hardest in the series? Well, regarding NOD, it is!!! Regarding GDI, well, with those artillery in TS, I say TS. That is, until fire storm was added for the juggernaughts. So, obviously GDI is canon in TD. Perhaps NOD should have been the canon winner in TS, what do you guys think?

    No, I mean that if someone plays a normal game at normal speed. They speed up the video instead. Gives them time to do it good. Yet those who watch the video see a fast version and wont get bored at some parts.

    It is indeed easier with GDI than NOD. I once managed on GDI 1, 3, 4, 6, 8, 9, 10, 11, 13 and 14. I still need to try on GDI 2, 5, 7, 12 and 15. For NOD, it is just 1

  15. Well, that cash feature could have been tweaked. Perhaps some rewards divided over other missions? Not just with cash, but also units?
  16. For those who want to feel the C&C from TD in a sequel. I advice to play C&C3. The cash over bug was 20%? So if you safe up 100k in one mission, you get 20k in another. It helped me through GDI 8, but also NOD 9(the one with the commando?) Although, these days I can beat those missions without the cash help. TS was extremely hard for me. The reason? It is such a slow game. And almost no strategy. Just wall'o'defence and titan/tick rush.
  17. TD indeed has missions that are very hard to standard games these days. But there are also missions that are very easy to play. GDI 8 can be made very easy if you fail on GDI 6, just to get to play GDI 7. Then cash up a mountain. So in GDI 8 you have a starting funding of, let's say 100k? I find NOD missions tougher.

    Lets play video's of Newbs ( not noobs but newbs) are fun to watch too. Especially if they have experience in another RTS. Yet have never played C&C. There is a lets play out there, which is actually fun to watch. Since he has dry humor and doesn't know what to expect.
  20. Ow, my list is big on this one. Not only adjustments for balance, but also for proper rules. Sandbags, costs 25. Chain fence, costs 50. All 3 walls should block any direct hit weapon, except the artillery and rocket types AND all towers. Spreading out ranges: Range + 1 on any vehicle. Range + 2 on any artillery and rocket system. Range + 3 specific on the MRLS. SSM-launcher is ok. Crushing should be limited; either slowing down the speed of tanks. or tanks bounce against infantry and only kill 1 that way at a time. This makes them ehm, at least 5 times slower. Yes, a ROF on infantry crushing. Area of effect on anti air. But limited to only a few units. Flamethrower effect limited to only a few units (some one managed to do this, but I forgot who).

    I love the last video about Nod Death Squad. But you forgot to explore the entire map And kill any possible killable tree or other debris. GJ on having the new world record. But is it registered somewhere? Can you beat the world record on Nod mission 1? Now that would be a complete victory.
  22. Well, board game designers say that chess still isn't balanced. It is a saying. It is a never ending process. But you spiral towards the balance. And perhaps the biggest mistake of EA games is that they never tried balancing the core of the game correctly. By watching how players play. Blizzard did that, and you know their story... Success, even today. Perhaps it is not to late. Perhaps some superior people from this site can make a "new" core. A core as intended. By simply observing outcomes/unit usage etc. Of course ignoring money maps. But still, observe the money maps as well. Indeed, $1000 isn't the only number to look at. $500 and $2000 should be looked at as well. In fact, all possible $ should be looked at. Best way to do this is to start with the minimum that is needed to get any unit. And that would be $3000. Then take multiple factors of this amount. And continue to test. That would be a designers job. However, use the community to truly test this. And take notes of every complain. Change stuff every week, force players to update. Every week, little changes should be applied; nerving titan attack power, increasing buggy speed. Stuff like that.

  24. Almost every RTS has tank ("Tank") spam eventually. It is just made extra easy on the westwood games. I can name you all the factors that are responsible for this. - resources. WAAAAY to much. You automatically tend to build the most expensive ones first. - crushing infantry; in other games you don't have this and the result is less tanks. However, this should not be a game killer, take a look at C&C3, where crushing is limited to a few per second. If you like to mod, you could reduce the speed of a tank when it is going to try to crush infantry. - focus fire. Means that in fights, the weakest units die up to 200% as fast in comparison to the strongest units. This can only be countered by having a mechanic that blocks for other units. The walls in C&C fail tremendously at this. Another counter is having little prize modifiers where the strongest unit is 1,42 times more expensive like it should be. - concentrated unit strength on the map. Where a $300 unit is the same size as an $1500 unit. If 500 is the standard, then the real costs should be 232 and 2598. In a few on 1 fights, you don't really see the difference. But having every field filled with an unit. You clearly notice a bonus advantage in the fight. Units in C&C3 clearly have their corresponding size. With a few exceptions, . Infantry (and of course air) have their size almost removed from the game. This means that this is a way to battle the focussed fire effects. Keep an eye on these 4 since they cause problems in most games. If the last 3 are done perfectly (which is nearly impossible) Than the first one is not a problem any more.
  25. Oops, forgot about the inaccuracy. Yeah, I agree, Dawn looks better than TS as well. The music is bad as well in TS. Except for some tracks. But I always thought of Klepacki's music going down slowly. In EBfD it is rather, well, not worth listening too. Yet in RA it is awesome, and so is it in RA2. It was supposed to be better then the games that you have named. BW, micro beats there. AOE and TA, complex techtree beats there. Can you show me some mod work with good graphics? I am curious.
