NOOB2 Posted September 11, 2019 Posted September 11, 2019 http://www.desktopapm.com/ This app tracks your APM in any application. it can give you an idea of how fast you make actions while playing a game of tiberian sun and keep track of your improvements. i am in no way affiliated with this app but i really would like to know what some pro players APM is in ts. if you are just average/new try it too and post your findings! APM is a metric made most famous by starcraft/starcraft 2. It stands for actions per minute and its supposed to give an idea of how many things a player in able to do in various situations. Lemme know what yours is averagely in your games of TS! ill update when my average sorts itself out. 1
mjvd2019 Posted September 12, 2019 Posted September 12, 2019 This seems interesting, I would be very curious so see some of the top players from back then, such shaf, kapa or mega and a few more and the present ones APM's since now there's more keyboard shortcuts and compare it. Too bad I just use the mouse ?
NOOB2 Posted September 12, 2019 Author Posted September 12, 2019 my peaks seem to be around 215-230 while defending/attacking same time and an average game of TS in its entirety for me is sitting around 185 APM.

There is another stat which cannot be effectively calculated unless a program specifically designed for the specific application exists. It's known as EPM (effective actions per minute) and it cuts out all the noise and erroneous clicks players do and only takes into account actions that have a dynamic impact on the players game. if all 50 of those actions per minute are effective actions, it doesn't matter if your overall apm is low tbh. it's just kind of a fun thing to look at (for me anyways). mjvd2019 Posted September 12, 2019 Posted September 12, 2019 (edited) So the EPM program doesn't count when you click repeatedly to cancel a building/unit or when you unselect and missclick the units? Never heard of such thing, cool ? Edited September 12, 2019 by mjvd2019
Weaponx Posted September 12, 2019 Posted September 12, 2019 (edited) played a game and hit 302 at highest* 258-239 average i think. Edited September 12, 2019 by Weaponx 1
Humble Posted September 13, 2019 Posted September 13, 2019 Dan already built EPM into the info panel in game. 1

Mole40k Posted September 13, 2019 Posted September 13, 2019 Don't forget there's a fundamental distinction to be made between '# of actions' vs '# of effective actions'. Having a measure like APM is interesting, but doesn't necessarily reflect the quality or ability of a player. 1

tsdotca Posted September 30, 2019 Posted September 30, 2019 (edited) Not to bring this back on topic... ? APM vs EPM is an interesting discussion. My APM is generally crap (under 200) but in an intense battle I can click like a pod of dolphins. My question always is, is APM correlated with skill level? I've witnessed great players dominate with relatively low APM, yet those that 'spam' can often suck. Edited September 30, 2019 by tsdotca goofed on apm count
NOOB2 Posted October 2, 2019 Author Posted October 2, 2019 no it means nothing relative to 'skill level' i would say. however it does say things about different players play styles and i find it interesting ! 1
