Game plays fine, Online CnCNet doesn't load anything

Question

On a Mac running VMWare Fusion with Windows 10.

Game runs run, but whenever I go to "Play Online" CnCnet loads fine, I select online, and the chat window loads but never connects / no one is ever on it.

Is this some network setting I need to change (I'm an Apple guy haven't used PC's in close to 20 years). Or is there another plugin or patch to install.

Again the game runs fine and this loads, just can't seem to "connect" into the network.

My father is running this same game on a Mac through the Wine Emulator and connects and plays online all the time.

I had the same thing working but just upgraded to Mac Catalina today and it wiped out the game.

Thanks for your help!

Well I can confirm the same issue with VMware® Workstation 15 Player on Ubuntu 16. (The guest is Win7)

I am trying to play TS online and cannot connect to cncnet.org from client. (Meanwhile the site loads just fine in the browser.) I am also able to connect from the Linux host (the host) via client (I just cannot play with my friend as he has v1.38 on windows, while I have v1.36 on linux - which is probably a different story), so it is definetely not "in my NW" per se. I've also played around with the only setting I found - the port number in client, but to no avail and I have no idea where the logs for the client are, so I am kind of clueless.

Has anyone any idea, why vmware hypervisors could interfere with cncnet client on guests?

Did you try the TS snap? That one usually works fine: https://snapcraft.io/cnctsun

Sure, I have installed cncnet on the Linux Host as well (it's using Wine) and as I wrote, the client can indeed connect to cncnet.org, but afterwards I cannot join the game of my friend, who is running his cncnet installation on Windows (allegedly our version of something differs, I have v1.36, he has v1.38, though I have no idea what this version number refers to). That is why I decided to replicate the same installation as he has on Windows. And there I hit this wall. :(

Custom map previews are enabled again!
This gives a great advantage to specialty maps, you can actually make it stand out so players will actually stay and try it out, and also list the required map options in the image

Funky even made a little tool that creates the code, to put in map. A simple drag image on top of the tool and voila,
Create custom image (256x256 pixels max) Drag image on top of CnCNetPreviewGen.exe Download   copy code of created file into your map save map, restart cncnet, pick map, click on blue WARNING button, give me your checksum+map name   Reply with checksum and map name here, or pm me whatever u want
      Then i'll whitelist it!!
Give it to me like this example:
      5e5af5ae6491ad645de88ca03e8f636bbf78557b=TowerDefense Rally RACE! Jungle [V2]

@Agrathore @A3H-Hitman @PTapioK @eliteGi @bk57 @Humble  plz let other map makers know too, can't think of them all atm, ty.

I got the complete whatchawhatever from Origin and I'm trying to relive the wonderful days of my introduction to RTS, but it seems as if none of the games are functioning.
For Tiberian Sun, clicking anything in the menu freezes the whole program.

For C&C RA2/YR, the mouse is invisible.
      And so on.

Is it really necessary to download third party patches for games that Origin (Electronic Assholes) are charging money for?

You have my thanks and best wishes,
      Me

A very long time ago I found a Russian website with a RA1 TC called Third Revolution. It's a stand-alone total conversion with new campaigns and a setting unrelated to the C&C universe -- rather, it tells the story of a post-1991 restoration of the Soviet Union and its struggle against Capitalist adversaries. The author had problems with the black/transparent colour in the palette but otherwise it was pretty solid all-in-all.
Back then I downloaded the Russian version, but later forgot about that TC until recently (had to ask around to remember the title). Anyway, the Russian version of the TC is available from The Red Alert Archive, however the developer's page also lists an English version (thirden.rar) among downloads, as well as a music pack (scores_full.rar). Supposedly, these were hosted at http://ra.afraid.org/thirdrev/, but the Wayback Machine does not have the respective files, and apparently they were at some point removed, for whatever reason.
I was wondering if anyone still has these files archived somewhere? Also, it seems that the TC is based on Aftermath 2.02, would it be possible to upgrade to 3.03 Beta?

Running CnCNet server using systemd (Linux x64)

wget downloads.cncnet.org/tunnel.sh sh tunnel.sh 200 "Unnamed Server" If you're unsure what linux distro to choose, just take the latest version of Ubuntu

Using the above method you can run both CnCNet servers as a service and they will continue to run even after the server restarted.

Alternatively you can also run the servers individually (see below):

      New Server (All Games)

      Linux x64 example:
      wget -c https://downloads.cncnet.org/cncnet-server.tgz -O - | tar -xz nohup ./cncnet-server --name "My cool server" --maxclients 200 --port 50001 --portv2 50000 > cncnet-server.log 2>&1 & Linux ARM

      Windows:
On XP, Vista and 7 make sure .NET 4.0 is installed: https://www.microsoft.com/en-US/download/details.aspx?id=17113
Download the server and start it: http://downloads.cncnet.org/cncnet-server-gui.exe

Note: Servers are chosen automatically by CnCNet and are only used in case 2 players fail to establish a Peer-To-Peer connection. Yuri's Revenge players can select a specific server via the advanced settings while hosting a game room.

      Old Server (Yuris Revenge only)

      Linux (Ubuntu) example:
      sudo apt-get install default-jre wget http://downloads.cncnet.org/cncnet-tunnel.exe nohup java -jar cncnet-tunnel.exe -name "My cool server" -maxclients 200 -port 50000 -headless > cncnet-tunnel.log 2>&1 &

      Windows:
Download the server and start it: http://downloads.cncnet.org/cncnet-tunnel.exe

Note:  To use a specific server you'll have to select it via the advanced settings while hosting a game room.

The servers will not show up instantly on the website, it can take up to 4 hours
