  3. Hmm. Not sure. Could be coincidence; I don't think the WW crew had much time during 1995 to look at other games, and the ion cannon appeared in promotional material fairly early, IIRC. And, it's certainly no reference the other way around; Metal Warriors was released in February, and C&C on the very last day of August.

    Is there any actual download link to TS-ddraw? Last time I looked all I got was a link to the source on github.

  10. From what I experimented earlier, you don't even have to shift click. It's sufficient to just tap the shift key once, and that enables the clickable area. It's probably a bug, but it works that way :laugh:

  13. "counters", not "encounters". Things specifically designed to act as countermeasure against a specific unit or ability.
  14. I'm not sure what you mean with that, but if it's anything like this, then it's just because the mission is smaller than your screen resolution, and you can fix it just by opening and closing the main menu to force the game to refresh the battlefield UI.

  17. heh heh... Even though my girl is Cuban, ANY suggestion I come up with is dubbed "too Mexican sounding" -- even if it were something white as hell like Amy. Luckily we've reached a shaky truce with Scarlet, which is fine by me since that's the hot chick from the old G.I. Joe cartoon. XD Although it would've been rad to have a "name my baby" contest here!   19. None of the originals ever use movies10.mix... it's not a filename the game reads normally.
  20. Can't be the stretch table generator; all that does is generate a table. There are no "wrong" values in such a table that can cause anything like this; after all, a palette is 256 values, and that's only as much as a byte can contain. And their file size is fixed and always the same, too, and generally with fixed size files like these the game has the expected size saved in the read function for it and doesn't read them any further than the expected size anyway. I did get one crash, yes, but the program was overall rather wonky on Windows 10 (I tested on my work laptop during a break). I actually had to DISABLE the "run as administrator" option before it wanted to run. Which seemed extra odd since the compatibility mode meant it gave the elevation prompt anyway
  21. The ddraw.dll wrapper DDWrapper also solves a lot of problems for RA2/YR, with its ForceDirectDrawEmulation option enabled.

  23. Tested the WSA. Indeed, purple colours show up. And you were right; the fact the game accepts no key input in these scenes means cnc-ddraw can't take screenshots there. (side note: for some bizarre reason, in Win10, I needed to put the exe in XP Service Pack 3, without admin mode, before it wanted to start)
  24. I just did a clean install of my C&C pack and checked the palette; the palette of the original hearth_a.wsa does not have that purple colour in it.
  25. Hmm. An external palette? I don't think it has any such thing for those WSAs...
