  1. It's just a mod unit. They found the icon somewhere and thought it was a real unit, because they Didn't Do The Research. That's all. :boring: That wikia is far from accurate. Be sure to look for references if you see such things; many won't have 'em. Again, mods. None of the ants have, or have ever had, official icons.
  2. Yes, but like most weapons mentioned in the manual I believe it was intentionally nonexistent. There are in fact sniper rifles, like the Barrett M82, that use .50 cal ammunition, but it seems that huge calibre is specifically to make them useful as anti-materiel as well, which the Commando in C&C1 decidedly isn't
  3. Isn't practically all of that explained inside the rules.ini files anyway? WW documented these things really well.
  4. You'll be creating edited duplicates of maps on cncnet though... might be nice if that program changed the map name to reflect that.
  5. COBOL: the language where you write a compilable novel, rather than a program!
  6. Don't flatter yourself. I browse this forum by unread posts, so I see everything posted here.
  7. Here's an idea... ask him? The most common tactics simply involve building tons of refineries and weapons factories, and later MCVs, so they can keep making tanks faster and faster, and constantly get more money to build with too. If you don't have at least three refineries, you're doing it wrong.
  8. All actual manual information says he uses a sniper rifle. The picture is simply wrong. Do note these pictures were only created for the C&C95 version, when they needed higher res icons. They're not in the original DOS game or its manual.
  9. I suggest you take a good look at the full change list of the 1.06 patch before you make dumb remarks like that. Start from the bottom. And again you show why we don't let you anywhere near our ladder code.
  10. Hello, welcome to CnCNet and the C&C Communications Center forum. Please don't be discouraged by the obvious show of n00bness you have been welcomed with. It happens (unfortunately)
  11. It's not a file to "download". It's just the game's configuration INI file, which should already be in there.
  12. An Irish stealth commando to contrast/complement the gung-ho American gunslinger one, according to that post on the Petro forums.
  13. From what I heard, the only ones still actively using it are big banks stuck with ancient systems, actually. Police and traffic modernized a lot.
  14. Of course not. You pick a language and stick to it. I know COBOL, but I won't be caught dead trying to actually make a program in that crap.
  15. Hmm. There's not really much Generals expertise in this community; we mostly play the older games. Anyway... Is this the CD version or the Origin version? If you say you tried "repairing" I assume it's Origin? From what I can find on the error online, this might be solved simply by running the game in compatibility mode for Windows XP Service Pack 3.
  16. Read the article and the linked Petro forum post and you know exactly as much as we do, X3M...
  17. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KVN_0qvuhhw ^ All about the N G-word :3
  18. What, you're saying some games being stupidly unrealistic about it is an excuse? Try it with Deus Ex: Human Revolution. You'll see what I mean.
  19. Really? Judging from some of your posts here, you should feel right at home amongst them
  20. Well, at least he didn't make it "ginger". Now that'd be over the fricking line
  21. 640x400 has always been just a leftover from DOS. They started using it because the graphics for C&C1 and RA1 were all rendered for 320x200-seen-as-320x240 on crt monitors with 6/5th height pixels. Dune 2000, though... I have no clue. That game wasn't even made by Westwood itself. The C&C1 commando has a sniper rifle. In most FPS games, you can't even fire those properly without looking through the scope (plenty of games give you no crosshair at all, since the rifle's only crosshair is the scope), and you'd try firing that while running?
  22. Yeah, I noticed that too. Pretty poorly planned out in terms of map building I honestly never had them build that hand of nod in my base unless I was actually experimenting with letting them build it so I could capture it. Blocking the turret's build spot just totally screws up their rebuilding logic, so they never rebuild anything from that point on. In fact, it may screw up more than just that, because I've noticed that often, a blocked rebuilding spot will make enemy attack teams ignore their orders and instead rush out with the singleminded purpose of destroying that obstruction. After all, that whole system was originally designed with base defense in mind.
