  1. The screen resolution is 640x480, but the actual play resolution is 640x400, plus an 80-pixel status bar at the bottom.
  2. Increasing the resolution won't magically make the maps larger
  3. Nazca plains Incidentally... http://nyerguds.arsaneus-design.com/junk/ss-nazca.png
  4. Oh, wow. I didn't even see this part. Are you ever out of touch. Brief history: CnCNet started as a little tool to abuse the game's LAN function to make it search for players/games online instead of on the local network. Amazingly, that actually worked. I am the creator of the C&C95 patch which gave it high resolution and a ton of internal fixes. I added this little tool to my patch just to support Myg, who had created it. From that grew the whole big CnCNet community we have today, with support for RA1, TS and RA2:YR, and a more reliable server-based system. All from that little tool, and all because of my patch. So there you go.
  5. You could try the Origin version; that doesn't need CDs at all, and, for the moment, it's free: https://www.origin.com/en-be/store/free-games/on-the-house
  6. I never added anything to that. That mission has always been there. The final mission has been fixed up a bit though, because the original had trouble getting units reinforced.
  7. Side note: you CAN set the game to a lower resolution than your desktop res, you know
  8. No, just the most ludicrous things that stick out.
  9. Players? Not necessarily. People? Yes. I don't know of any online communities that are not headed by one or just a couple of admins. There is no free speech or democracy online, just the rules and whims of the people whose websites and/or other online services you use. What exactly is your problem with that? It's like that everywhere. Name me one online community that doesn't work that way. These issues are not even server related. They are mostly old-game-on-new-system related, and this is the only community dedicated to fan-patching the games.
  10. Boomers are a big part of it, yes. Mechacaseal kinda demonstrates it here... [warning - lack of shirt incoming] http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RYpde8ToB3U
  11. Hehe. Pity they showed mostly that much less polished Playstation/Saturn version instead of the PC version. Also, everyone knows engineers are secretly Commandos. Um. Or... something like that. O_o
  12. Yeah, you are SO not making another useless thread about this. Merged.
  13. The user's aim was installing cncnet for RA2/YR... nothing more or less. I don't see your point.
  14. I'm fairly sure Win95 compatibility mode forces the games to 1 core automatically.
  15. It would be amazingly helpful if you would care to mention what bugs you're actually experiencing, instead of jumping straight to possible fixes for them... And, no, this is not "the new cnc-world". This site is still pretty focused on the classic 2D Westwood C&C games.
  16. lol, I have no idea. I think I just found it in some fan-made FAQ or something. I remember Westwood people mentioning it in a couple of interviews, but I have no idea if those interviews were from back then or years later. It's completely impossible to find in the actual game, anyway; it's hashed with the one-way hashing algorithm they also used for all of those nifty conquer.ini options I unlocked (for disabling bibs, enabling MCV undeploy, showing true names for civilians, etc), meaning it's just an integer (11CA05BB) in the game code.
  17. Hey, hey. Please curb that attitude when dealing with people seeking help, mkay?
  18. TS doesn't have the RA1 TeslaZap effect, so we had to make something similar with particle systems. I think it looks pretty neat though. Ahh, I guess I'd have to see it in action to really appreciate it
  19. Unfortunately, people found the internal files a lot faster than the official way to unlock it, meaning most people back in the day played this with glitchy dinosaur graphics, since the way to make them visible was to disable their walker logic, which totally messes up their frame usage
  20. colormap? That makes no sense. That refers to the part of the footer with the terrain types. Odd how the thing previously identified as amount of frames are two shorts (Count and Allocated).
  21. You can fake it with lists to other sections or by having a section that contains comma or semicolon separated values, but I agree that INI isn't as well suited to serializing a game state as other markup languages. Yeah... I did that kind of stuff with the project files for my .mrf generator. Its ini format... isn't all that pretty. I had to add specific logics into it for cleaning up the detail objects of larger objects
  22. But that's not a translated version. This English translation rules
  23. Really? On TFD it just said "internet play is being discontinued and not guaranteed."
  24. The actual Gold Medal map contains tons of scripting and custom rules... wouldn't it give you that same "cheat warning" anyway?
