Battlefield: Command & Conquer Edition
AchromicWhite replied to VamPyroX's topic in General Discussion
Yeah, the main issue I had with Renegade was that it wasn't an FPS based in the C&C universe, it was trying to emulate C&C (as an RTS) as an FPS. Silly health bars and such, and making Nod quite a bit less realistic. The idea of using the units and armies, the story and world of C&C for a FPS seems fine to me. It's just important that it's made as a FPS rather than trying to be both. Also, C&C is a WAR GAME, that's the other thing that EA seemed to forget as they made more C&C games. No blood, more and more outrageous units. Keep it gritty with things to tickle our imagination. For that reason, I think that C&C1 (and RA1 to a degree) WOULD make a good FPS. As it's simply a war FPS, made in a new world. (and stop marketing it to children, damn it -.-) -Liam -
It's a shame. I do think that the TD players seem to be a bit more mature, but that might be to do with there being less players. Anyway, if you ever wanted to learn C&C95, I'd be happy to help you I'm not much of an RA1 player, though, and I will say, RA1 balance is not my cup of tea. -Liam

That sounds like a really funny bug Stealth harv is awesome... among many other things. (Stealth copters... not sure if I've ever seen it) -Liam

"Keep 'em comin'!" (You don't have to work left handed, though) hehe. -Liam

Infantry looking good, just the right amount of artistic license while not going over the top. I like how they all still look like modern soldiers Keep up the good work -Liam

I didn't know about the friendly T-Rex...

Sorry if you felt attacked, you have to realise that you're one more in a long list of people wanting the game updated. Well, yeah, you know now, anyway. -Liam
-
Yeah, you're not the first person to ask for these issues. They're not easy to implement. If you want to be the umpteinth person in the last decade to bug Nyer about hacking these things into the game, go ahead, we can't stop you anyway. I know these things look simple to put in, and in a more modern engine, they probably would be, but it's not. And sadly, that's about the end of the story. -Liam

Yeah, and it's that sort of format that we also need to get for TD. BTW, renaming 'multiplayer' to 'pocket multiplayer' might help to clear up some confusion for new people also. (many of them think that the multiplayer one is the game + multiplayer and that the other one is single player only) -Liam

Just make a big pile of stuff and V2 them from a distance? Worked for me, but I guess it's all about what your opponent actually does. -Liam
-
Looks pretty cool. I kinda with they'd just go back to using more classic unit designs, but I guess I can't have everything my way. Also, that's a cool cover of Just Do it Up. Don't you think Nyer? -Liam
-
That's because C&C1 is better. (Everyone knows that) -Liam
-
Well, so long as I can read the power bar and it doesn't look like crap (graphics glitches), I'm usually pretty happy, but I hear you. Yeah, I figured it was something like that. I'd be good to have the same stuff packaged up, so that there's 1 official download and maybe a pocket version of the same thing. -Liam
-
There seems to be 2 main downloads. A 'full download' here at cnc-comm.com, and a pocket 'multiplayer' version, available from cncnet.org Thing is, the multiplayer version (while obviously not including campaign etc) has different stuff IN it. Not only does it come with a newer ccconfig file which allows customised hotkeys, but it seems to have a different c&c95.exe (one of the 2 is in caps, not sure if it's edited, or what). Thought I'd just point this out. I'd like to know if there are any differences, and also which .exe cncnet5 launches. -Liam

C&C1 balance is underrated... Only a handful of units are really out, and not by so much that it ruins the game, by any means. Almost all units are useful -Liam
-
Neither is YR, to be honest. I used to run it just fine on my old Pentium 2. -Liam
-
Thanks, that'll get me started, at least -Liam
-
Well, games at that point are all designed to HAVE the expansion. In many ways, the vanilla game could be considered, simply, incomplete. -Liam
-
Oh, I know about those xD haha But, nothing about carry over cash.

haha, thanks -Liam

I think this is my very first, actual, 2v2. (made 4 way that can be used for 2v2, but this one is NOT 4 way). It's left vs right, and like most of my maps, it opens up more as you push out. Hope it makes for some good games -Liam Update 26/3/2015 -Updated name to include [2v2] -Made sure that tib was even (the picture below wasn't updated, so you can see the fix area with the tiberium that sits between the allied main base areas) Update 27/4/2015 -Fixed spawning bug Charmed2v2.rar

Manu's Battlemaps (1vs1, 2vs2, 3vs3)

Someone DID actually touch that system though, maybe Funky. I'd like it changed back, personally, or better yet, have it as a check box, or better yet (again), be able to choose start positions. Yeah, I was pretty sure it wasn't you who changed that one, Nyer. -Liam -
Oh man, TD is SO much better than Zero hour. Sad how so few people know just how good it is -Liam
-
How did I not know about this?... ...at all. -Liam

I've just been looking into making some tutorial videos on how to play C&C95 online. I've downloaded Open Broadcast Software, and while I had some microphone issues, I finally got it working. Unfortunately, it makes the whole game run slow, even in single player (to about the same ratio of speed difference between single and multi player). Also, once finished recording, if I was recording the game itself, it shows almost entirely a black screen (sometimes you can see some of the brighter colors. Like some sort of a palette issue). What do other people use to record C&C and how can I get rid of this terrible speed issue? And how can I get the game to show in the video? -Liam
