That sounds lame... I love getting there with the commando. BTW, you can use the commando to take out the guard towers... you just have to get the tower shooting at other things... Yeah, I mean, put 1/2 the mission into being a escort mission to protect the MCV. Put turrets and stuff on the way. If the player tries to use the starting units to take on the main defense of the shore, just slap on obelisk behind them to force the player to take another route... a route that's full of other things to kill (things they can actually beat).

Then I'm impressed with your death squad abilities, haha. Aren't the chem troops HE? Not so sure HE is good vs tanks...... maybe hummers (but even range is not on your side). I use the flame tank... I just make sure the med is shooting at the chem troops, haha. I'm well aware of how those triggers work... though, if you just make a great distraction, the recon bike does all the work. Yes, orcas are key to this mission. No, I mean, have MORE turrets and stuff as you're finding a place for your base, and a small GDI task force to bring the MCV to the right area... heck, set up some obs to stop you from going the wrong way xD MAKE IT HARDER! but give a mix of GDI units to escort. I'm well aware you can steal the whole base... I have stolen the whole base... stealing the whole base is fun... haha (in some ways I think you're MEANT to steal the whole thing. I ADORE the stnk mission, and I NEVER use a cheap unveiling of the con yard! The start is so hard that it's fun, the middle where you build up a base is great, and if you steal their con from the side... you can get APACHES! -Liam

Oh yeah, I've killed the med tank; I've beaten all the missions. But still, it's a bit ruff. Oh, you mean the steal the nuke one? I think I tried to capture their base, once. In the end I gave up, but yeah, it probably IS possible. I've certainly stolen the whole base in the orca steal mission. -Liam

I had to come back to say... This map, and Twin Peaks, for that matter, are excellent. I fully endorse them for tournament play. Well done! -Liam

Pretty sure I usually use the commando to take it out. Most of my units usually die, though, haha. I suspect that using the stnks to take it out would give less casualties... but you'd have to make sure that none of the GDI units are targeting them; as it wouldn't take long for them to be taken out... and they take quite a lot of time to kill the Adv Comm. Should I say that I can beat either campaign in a day? Maybe both if I rushed, haha. I found the Nod CO mission where you have the chem warriors and the flame tank to be pretty hard. You have to beat a medium tank with them (they're not built to do THAT!). Personally I find the RA missions much harder than TD. But then, I know TD inside and out by now. Missions in the original campaign that are hard? hmm... If you don't know the maps, then the Nod mission where you have to steal the nuke equipment can be hard. The GDI mission where you come up the beach with an MCV and nod has flame tank for the first time (the rescue Delphi mission). I can slaughter it now, but if you don't know the map... you're driving your MVC around looking for a place to park it while turrets are shooting it, and all you have is grenadiers, lol. Actually, it would be cool to see a variant on that mission where you get more of a selection of GDI troops and have to take out quite a few Nod turrets etc before making your base, rather than just dodging everything. OH! how could I forget... hijacking the orca... now THAT mission is hard. Once you starting taking the GDI base, it's not too tricky. But man, they have quite a lot of stuff for you to take on with only a handful of units. -Liam

Advanced Infantry (RA) - Update 16/Nov/14
AchromicWhite replied to AchromicWhite's topic in Graphics
Yeah, I moved where the gun was and redrew the arms to be holding the gun in the correct way, then filled in the gap where his arms used to be with darker colors. The standing position for the sniper is taken from the "guard" frames of the rifleman which, to my knowledge, are unused by the game. Easily the most work was the mortar, however, where I had to draw: -Standing frames (the crouch position is actually one of the frames of the grenadier attacking). The mortar itself to totally free drawn, 8 directions, of course. -Prone with the mortar; just the regular prone Grenadier frames with the free drawn mortar added in. -Running with the mortar, where I had to draw the folded up mortar cradled in with one arm. One drawn for each of the 8 directions it was just copied and pasted with it bobbing up and down as he runs. -Firing, both 'standing' and prone. This took ages. Obviously starts with the sitting version and prone version with the free drawn mortar, then having him move his arms to take the ammo, and pop it into the mortar. It was also important that I figured out exactly in which frame the grenadier looses his grenade, and as it turns out, there's more frames when he's standing than when he's prone. So there's some extra frames when he's in standing mode where he's just still, from memory. -Adding the mortar into the death frames (must easier I must say). -Drawing up the animation of the mortar cleaning, which I REALLY wanted to have. I watched a video of some guys firing fast rounds out of a mortar... it involved cleaning it; and I thought that would be an EXCELLENT idol animation for him. The other one of him talking on his comm is just from the grenadier, but it really fits a support troop. I think that's all, but it takes a LONG time... and also deciding on belt colors, so that troops that looked similar wouldn't have similar colors. I don't know that mission Chad... in saying that, I'm not all that into RA (I just like to mod it; not a fan of the way that WW balanced RA). -Liam -
Advanced Infantry (RA) - Update 16/Nov/14

Yes, I'm particularly proud of the Mortar -Liam -
I've been plugging away and finally finished them all Update: Nyerguds kindly pointed out a graphical glitch from the original frames in which some of the fire was being remap instead of bright yellow. That's now fixed. However I did NOT bother to remake the GIF frames, so if you watch them, you'll see the error in them (the GIFs take longer to make than the shp files, like hours longer for that many frames). Don't worry Kilk, the RPG was one of the few which didn't need to be fixed Also fixed a stray pixel for the e3 Dragon. Below are new infantry for Red Alert mods. Some are in other threads, but are updated. I wanted to re-release them, fully updated; with all their friends, together. Light Machine Gun: Replaces e1 (remember that you can now have e1 copies), has an orange belt. Look for: Firing a fully automatic weapon. Sniper: Replaces e1 (remember that you can now have e1 copies), has a green belt. Look for: Holding his gun at an angle when standing still, reloading his gun after firing, using a pair of binoculars to look around when he's idol for a while. Mortar: Replaces e2, has a yellow belt. Look for: Soldier sits ready when he's in a normal 'standing' position, loading the mortar and then placing his hands over his ears when firing, cleans the mortar with a pole when he's been standing idol for a while. Dragon Missile: Replaces e3, has a blue belt. Look for: Soldier sits ready when he's in a normal 'standing' position. Stinger Missile: Replaces e4, has a red belt. Look for: Not much, TBH... he also has extra red on his weapon Rocket Propelled Grenade: Replaces shok, has an aqua belt. Look for: The grenade leaving the end of the weapon after it's fired. -Liam AdvInfandIcons.zip

Can't say I can play music myself -Liam

If the AI DOES leave infantry at the Barr, maybe use it to your advantage. Place the Barr near the entrance to the base, so that it seems that it's simply leaving infantry near the entrance for def. -Liam

C&C Story in a nutshell (Tiberium Universe) (WIP)
AchromicWhite replied to fir3w0rx's topic in C&C 1
Hey, I never noticed that. That's quite cool. Nah, look at how the obelisk is placed in the different one, it's not at the center cell of the temple. If we ever do manage to extend that maps. I'd be amazing to make a co-op mutiplayer mission of this map. Where you attack from both the north and south at the same time. Maybe sprinkle some more nod units around etc, to make it harder, too. -Liam -
What about Ukraine? Interesting finds. Most 'pros' agree that the german tanks are the best... but in saying that, I think in CnCnet that the tank stats are now all just made to be like Germany. Which is a bit silly, I think. I'd rather see it more like what you're saying here (the same bonuses, but not reversed). The other thing about splash is that it can help hit q tanks, also. But then, ROF might help that also. -Liam

I'm looking at including it in my up and coming rebalanced RA1:AM mod. But this will be a fully rebalanced game, so it'll play out quite differently to regular RA. It is quite a cool concept, I'm not 100% sure why it isn't in any of the missions. -Liam
-
Oh yeah... I only have Co-ops on my TFD disk. Which I don't have installed. Dang it. lol -Liam
-
Doesn't that mean that you'd have to take down power AND lure the mammoths? I have to try this... yeah, it's actually a really easy mission if you open it up inside. But you do have to open it in the right place, use engineers wisely and pretty much ONLY attack with turrets/engis. Else the mammoths will come after you. Then, once you take out the AGTs with turrets, harvest the top tib and make an army... etc. But honestly, mostly defenses works pretty darn well, as it doesn't provoke a response. -Liam

Just do it up could be a really cool cover. I'm kinda surprised, considering how catchy and simple a lot of the songs are, that there's not more covers. -Liam

C&C Story in a nutshell (Tiberium Universe) (WIP)
AchromicWhite replied to fir3w0rx's topic in C&C 1
Interesting that they chose there to be a rear attack option on the temple for only 2 of the maps... -Liam -
Ages ago I had an idea for a Nod map. The player would start with just some infantry and have to get to a certain point to activate some more reinforcements. So say 5 or so flares go up, showing areas on the map defended by different types of units. The infantry can take on a say 2 med tanks, or something. If they win they can get more reinforcements, this time, they get some light tanks. At another flare spot, there's something that the infantry CAN'T kill, but that their new light tanks can; like, a row of guard towers or some MRLS. This then gives them a reinforcement of a single artillery. Then they have to go and fight a tone of enemy infantry; they couldn't beat it with just the tanks and/or indantry, but they can beat it with the arty added in. etc. So you slowly make your way through until in the end you have to fight, say, mammoth tanks, or something. But by that time, you have some recon bikes and stealth tanks to help out. -Liam

It is indeed very nice to see new artists -Liam

Any downloads where I can get Desert-Winter-Jungle exes?
AchromicWhite replied to Karpet's topic in Red Alert
Yeah, but when people usually make desert maps, I'd say that just make a temperate one and then just change the theater in the txt. -Liam -
I could never really understand Cloak and Dagger. I basically always win it by using defenses to attack the GDI base from within... which means that it doesn't trigger GDI units to come to the aid of their base being attacked. Would be cool if someone could... but there's so many AGTs and 2 Mammoths outside. -Liam

Funny stuff. Though, technically, those hovercrafts can actually move around on land... being a HOVER craft and all. Were you messing around with something, or is this a stock map. I don't recognise it. -Liam
