  1. The TFD unofficial patch should work, it holds Scorpio9a's LAN patch. Been playing YR with my brother with that file, works great.
  2. There's a lot of things you nubs need to do if you wanted to be proper...
  3. Played Grey Goo for a bit during their recent weekend trial, it's certainly lacking. Though I don't know why people abandoned Universe at War...
  4. They were replaced in version 1.001. There's the unofficial 1.002 patch which, among else, restores them.
  5. Just used the current TS release 10 beta 6 to install TS and FS. I had to apply this patch because it's not included (you can tell by the absence of the Single Processor Affinity option in the config EXE). TS runs relatively normally, but FS only in skirmish. It fails to read FS campaigns and FS-specific cutscenes unless I remove the no-CD function and use my discs. Also, when saving/loading games when ingame (not in the main menu), the menus behave rather strangely. They show the saved game list on each window refresh, and by the time I want to go to the menu with resume/quit/etc. functions, it shows for a millisecond, then seemingly disappears, while it responds to clicking on wherever the buttons are supposed to be correctly. So much for the testers' QA capabilities.
  6. You came later to the party, I wasn't referring to you. You seem competent, anyway. I missed that you remade the YR client as well, sorry for that. I'm primarily mad at Grant.
  7. Well, that is what at least one of them is, nothing more. Even The God Of Tiberian Dawn disagrees, as you've seen. Is that something that nobody else does? FFS, none of us does anything for money, that's nothing worth stressing. It would be illegal to do otherwise, anyway. Anyone with a bit of IQ can, that's the point. But the idiotic developers of the client are unable to do simple changelogs and descriptions on what they do exactly. They're only capable of spamming the crap out of every space they see with links to it.
  8. http://xwis.net/forums/index.php/topic/182377-could-we-work-with-other-servers/ Half of multiplayer services out there fit that description, but you don't need to edit some files or install DLLs to redirect to XWIS' server. If you install a game several times, you don't have to do literally anything except use the same login name and password This is very true, actually.
  9. You're absolutely blind and speak with no rational thought whatsoever. Neither CnCNet or XWIS are saints. The biggest problem with CnCNet is when certain XWIS rejects came and decided they wanted to take over the YR (and the announced RA2) support, which they're covering miserably. They're like: "Game isn't working? Download the YR client. Can't fix the resolution? Download the YR client. Got RA2/YR from EA's giveaway? Download the YR client at all costs, XWIS doesn't get a mention. Your keyboard is on fire? Download the YR client, of course! Oh, and we'll reupload a few videos from the community to our channel without producing any ourselves, because fuck it." Oh, and let's not forget a few destructive people in the TS section. Don't get me wrong, CnCNet staff has done great stuff with TD/RA1/TS patching and all, but ffs, keep it real. CnCNet's advertising is absolutely the worst I've seen in quite a while in this community, if ever. XWIS' problem are lack of advertising and certain narrow-minded people filling the forums. They have actual anti-cheat and a fully functioning ladder, however. It's difficult to take a side when both are equally good and equally rotten in so many different ways. That's why I'm not following a cult of personality for either and pound each where valid, not scorched-earth-ey like you. Please inform yourself and cut the propaganda when you touch your keyboard, kid. Growing up a little will help, too.
  10. Someone who's been in the community far and wide, staff of numerous C&C sites, for a lot longer than you have. And yourself, "low-lifer"?
  11. Actually, the YR ladder on XWIS moved from a long point blank when the giveaway started. You're boasting without background. You're not helping CnCNet in any way. And you're not even in staff.
  12. You're insane and unrealistic. I meant that in a sense that you are not controlled by EA (like an owned studio) or in any way legally connected to their company other than the bonuses and rights they have given you.
  13. There is no official server. XWIS is the closest thing to the definition, as they have some ties with EA. Not official subsidiary-like ties, just ties. Their server is based on official WOL coding and have anti-cheat. CnCNet is just a custom advanced LAN lobby with an integrated IRC channel and some added features.
  14. Although XWIS is the closest thing to the definition, it's not fully official. Unless Olaf is an EA employee, which he isn't. Moron.
  15. RA2 - 32-bit systems: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Westwood\Red Alert 2 RA2 - 64-bit systems: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Westwood\Red Alert 2 YR - 32-bit systems: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Westwood\Yuri's Revenge YR - 64-bit systems: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Westwood\Yuri's Revenge All of them under the "Serial" value. All serials are written without the dashes between number sets.
  16. Depends on the OS you're installing on the VM. Windows 9x will be sluggish because of the dependency on SciTech Display Doctor 7.0 Beta, but Windows 2000 and XP should be pretty good even on laptops. They support VirtualBox's Guest Additions which negate the need for standard drivers.
  17. Glad you made it
  18. A much safer solution to that is using virtual machines.
  19. But if you gave them full documentation on your changes (which shouldn't be a problem for you, Nyer), would they have accepted that?
  20. The copy protection was already there, they just removed the dependency on the disc. Yeah, and you of all people KNOW that they didn't decompile it enough to do so. Yeah. All the proof is there.
  21. Such as?
  22. Cheaters are banned there, genius. Not normal people. In a way. But you can't install YR without some crucial RA2 files.
  23. It's pre-patched. If you want to use mods or run parameters (such as windowed mode), you'll need to disable Origin functionality for the game and use the fixed TUC launchers. http://bibber.eu/downloads/cnc-ultimate-collection-launchers/
  24. If you're using Windows 10, browse to the directory RA2/YR is in. Then find game.exe and gamemd.exe. On each one of them, right-click -> Properties -> Compatibility. Tick the Reduced Color Mode option and choose 16-bit (65536). If you're using a previous Windows, you'll have to manually set the 16-bit colour to your desktop before launching the game (and returning to 32-bit after leaving). See here how: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/faq/id-1865158/change-color-bits-windows.html
  25. Nice catch, reposted on a few other sites!
