Opinion: Pet Peeve on Laming in FFG on East vs. Best
ore_truck replied to XXxPrePxX's topic in Red Alert 2
It is still a legit move for doing that, but I understand why people would get pissed or even ban these tactics because it would narrow the game down to only a few tactics where everyone would be only using it where it spoils the fun to some people. It just depends on the players opinion whether it is allowed or not. If I host a game and restrict certain tactics, other players have rights to say it shouldn't be forbidden and can choose to leave my game and make their own room. If the majority of the playerbase is a supporter to this "lame" tactic, then I'll know I'm gonna end up in games where the host allows it to happen. I know you don't like it, but it is still an effective and legit move. Try doing it against them and hopefully one day they too would see how boring a game gets if everyone is doing the same cheesy move and narrows down to only a few tactics. -
Flame war and ego boasting always happen when someone said "hey you got beaten..."

This topic is getting weird, alright. The topic starter is a troll to begin with, he created this topic and said stuffs opposite to what the experienced players said in this very thread. And said "that allies are much more powerful than the soviets are. Here are the reasons: " he thinks allies is powerful because " Their naval units can invade lands and clear the shores to help deploying troops from transports " , aircraft carrier hornets can reveal shroud while soviet dreadnought missiles can't and other minor stuffs that doesn't really affect 99% of most games. Claims never played multiplayer online and acts like he knows everything and denying experienced player's objections with his points. He makes stupid comparisons like comparing a kirov to jets, how aircraft carrier are better than dreadnoughts in self-defense although both units are meant to be bad at self-defense. Saying about V3 launchers suck just because a higher tier prism is better without even mentioning the V3's merits. In another thread he made, he whines about why there are no naval-specific country exclusive unit and said that naval unit country should be unavailable on maps without water (is this guy even for real?) Now he stops arguing after seeing us bickering and quarrel with each other in the last 8 pages while he giggles behind his computer screen eating popcorn as his troll mission is successful.

but thanks for admitting that soviets are the best

Erased from time and existence. Like Einstein did to Hitler in Red Alert. Allied buildings are immune to toxic waste. They converted their currency to dollars probably because the person we are buying from doesn't accept other currency. Those picture are just for illustration purposes. The original soviet buildings are in red so they took a picture of them in red and left it in the catalog.

So basically, Germany is weak because the Allies needed Airborne, Black Eagle, Sniper, or Grand Cannon to win and Libya, Cuba, and Russia are weak because Soviets can't win any game without desolators?
-
That's what the SEAL C4 is for. It's like saying I build a war miner to harvest but I use it to kill a navy SEAL near my base.

The allies do require more skill but that doesn't mean they are the same strength as Soviets if played by inputting the highest skill if equally-skilled players do Allies vs Soviet on some maps because some maps give allied an advantage if you maximize their capabilities (requires more skill). Faction alone won't determine who is better, the map played is an important factor. On some maps, Iron Curtain is needed. Soviet is easier to play, more lax, less risky and more luxury as you don't need to input higher skills to get the most out of them, contrary to what the op stated. Is the op getting any of this?

Your opinions a.k.a. personal preference about a competitive games are only limiting the capabilities of players. Even a game on a symmetrical map is played with all settings the opposite of your stated "competitive rules", it can still be competitive if the players want it. I don't think I need evidence to prove that Both parties have the same opportunities to use/threats from France, superweapons and engineers and still play competitively.

Yeah, about that building a beautiful base thing, everyone wants a beautiful base (including me, I like building walls, position war factories in one row, service depot perfectly aligned to the middle war factory, silo by refineries...) but sadly you can't be able to do it on most games with real people. You are restricted and limited to a certain build order/strategy because if you mess up, the guy with the superior tactics wins. At least that what happens in high level play. I stopped playing online with people, they all keep dodging me, disconnect from internet while losing, angrily calling you names when you beat them using a tactic they disliked/different from them, etc. And when I came back online a few months ago, the remaining people are only obssessed with symmetric maps (i mean the really bad ones) and terrace. I mean Tiberian Sun looks a lot better before you started playing online, better than other C&C as you can happily build walls, firestorm/laser fences, automatic gates, pavement, base defense that works like superweapons (emp), harvesting tiberium veins (those orange things), etc looks very appealing but when you play online, you realize all this were badly implemented as your tactics are dumbed down to do only what is necessary. Why play TS when there are plenty of newer games that forces you to only do what is necessary while the unique stuffs TS has to offer are useless/unnecessary/badly implemented. This is why it's very hard to attract more new players. I don't even think we can attract the old TS players back.

what

TD are good in countering rushes and slow down a soviet player at that point.

Care to elaborate?

K, Ignore the personal attacks and trolls and move on. I noticed they trolled you when you posted the excuses comment there. No need to start a drama and get triggered just because someone proclaimed himself a pro. Just say gg and have a good laugh. If you're hurt because of the trolls in a YouTube video, then you're not the only one. YT comment sections are always like that. I've seen tons of videos and comments about trolling celebrities and politicians and almost none of them get removed. Welcome to the internet.

No, they didn't. Learn the importance of economy, especially if you're playing as Soviet in RA2. "Ivan's not home..." I wonder if the Siskova sisters still live here. Mmmm.... Natasha and Nastier. 1 squid can sink 101 aircraft carriers. Man, I just got my popcorn.

There is no official, those sites are updated by the community and I find a lot of inaccurate and incomplete info on the cnc wiki. Just be careful, don't believe what you read, believe what you play.

What xprepx said is true.

Haha, that's why I said the allied surveillance isn't a huge thing, you just need dogs (or maybe rocketeers). Yup, it's been like that in almost every C&C game, especially Red Alert 1 & 2. Tanks do all the job mostly, other units are just support (which can make a lot of difference if used correctly, but tanks are still the main unit). The real skill is also about balancing your income gatherers and war factories because you want to get a lot of tanks the soonest while having a good economy and choosing where/when is the right time to attack. The soviet downsides you talked about like having slower aircraft or inferior V3s matters little in tank games. Yeah, I had a lot if fun playing with Tank destroyers and Tesla tanks.

Is the OP getting anything out of this? He should notice that the Soviets are not as weak as he initially perceived by now.

Allied and Yuri wouldn't be balanced without MCV or miners.

The AI is just terrible in the game, you can't have full experience of fun (especially in naval warfare) compared to playing with people. I wouldn't expect having a satisfying naval game with the AI unless there's a mod that improves them a lot.
