Updates failing with too many tries exceeded

Updates are starting to fail every time for me now.   The ultimate error message is:  Too many retries for downloading file Qt\CnCNetQM.exe.

I am running this on Windows 8.1 (all updates processed).   Up until Version 7, everything would update normally.  From Version 7 onward, now I get the above error message every time I try and update.  Usually I can get it to finally go after 7-10 tries over an hour.   However, now I cannot get it to update after several hours of trying. 

It is NOT a firewall problem.  I have this cleared through my firewall and as I have said, up until Version 7 I had no issues.  Its says Windows NT below, but I am fully updated Windows 8.1.  Please advise.  Thank you.

Is the QM application closed before you try to update?

I've attached the file, just unzip it and put it in the Qt folder in your Yuri's Revenge directory.

Sounds good.  Your file replaced one that was already there.   I finally got updated to 7.2 prior to replacing the file, but it took perhaps 20 tries to accomplish the update.   Prior to the next update, I will check to see if the QM application is running prior to updating.  I am thinking it was not running prior since I would come off of a fresh reboot, run the game, and process the update.

I will post my results once a newer version than 7.2 comes out.

Just tried to update to 7.4 and I get the same error as above.  There are no other applications running according to Task Manager.

About the 7th try, with no reboot in between, the file finished downloading and finally installed.
