  1. So, basically, he copied cncnet5.exe to his desktop and tried launching it from there?
  2. Hah. Never call invoke code before the window is loaded, folks. You CAN just put a global boolean "isLoaded" to check on that
  3. Red Dawn? You mean Tiberian Dawn? And, um, it's right there in the list of downloads on the 1.06 patch page. First is the patch, second is the full game, third are the videos.
  4. All people using TUC need to make 100% sure that the "Disable Origin in-game" option in the Origin options of the game is checked.
  5. You always have to leave a 1-cell border around the map. I thought the editors forced that anyway?
  6. Well, THAT was intense. It really seems like the lag at the mission start is doing a number on you, though... I just loaded the mission, and I got at those walls before their crew even got in sight of the base :-\ Maybe pressing ESC at the start will help? That'll skip the whole "going over the enemy bases" intro thing.
  7. Lucky git I can top that... I got it for free... from the EA community manager... for my patching work on C&C1 So... this thing is basically like "Red Alert: A Path Beyond" and "Tiberian Sun Reborn", but a C&C3 edition, hm? Interesting... I'm not much of a FPS guy, though. Never even finished Renegade.
  8. Very nice! Glad you fixed that
  9. This was about the rotors though And, wasn't the foundations thing bleeding just because of people forgetting the refresh layer of the foundation? A building has two foundations; impassable cells, and passable cells that also need to be refreshed. Three for unit-producing buildings, since they have exit target cells too.
  10. Player-owned subs are probably still invisible in water though... since the water uses the same colours as the cloak effect
  11. Umm. Bridgeheads already have their own tileset - the bridge itself, right? I can easily just place two bridges on both sides of a wide river, use only the few tiles of the respective bridgeheads and delete what I don't need so I can fill in the blanks with the new 'fixer' tiles These "fixer" tiles would also take up a tileset ID, so what's the use of making them just the fixer tiles, and not just the whole bridgehead? Well, it was the first editor they made. Gotta start somewhere, you know.
  12. The game? That's completely irrelevant. It's just that the installer is a 16-bit Windows program. The Windows 3.11 generation.
  13. Eh. Already got it... for free
  14. Vehicles stuck in the monsoon mud Though actually adapting it to real weather conditions is kind of dumb... especially if day/night is counted. Players don't want to always play in twilight just because that happens to be when they have time to game. And multiplayer kind of invalidates this altogether. Not to mention, the game being that much harder for players in tropical regions? Seems... bizarre. I know one game actually used time travel as gameplay element though. You could use resources to move units back or forward in time, and had a timeline of established events at the bottom which you could scroll through freely. Worked perfectly, somehow, but it got really chaotic O_o
  15. Camo patterns don't really look good ingame... there's a reason WW didn't bother with such details. They went for distinct recognizability of the units instead.
  16. Well, I more or less mentioned that.
  17. 's all cleaned up And, somehow, now I put it all back, I got more space than before in the drawer where I store them... no idea how that happened. O_o [edit] Nevermind. Forgot to put away my Dune II box

  19. I'm not sure about that, actually. I never found them, but... -It certainly has the movement types, with a difference between wheeled and tracked. Also proven by the "3-point wheeled vehicle rotation" beta option. -I did in fact find those terrain speed modifiers in Dune II... so it seems strange that C&C1 would not have them.
  20. Nod was clandestinely supplied by US arms dealers. That's why Kane didn't want to attack them. He executed Seth for going over his head. Eisengeist: For the rest... -Honestly not sure about RA3, since I haven't played it, but the co-op thing seemed weird, and the videos were even more over-the-top than RA2. I prefer my Red Alert more gritty, personally. O_o -Don't even bother with C&C4. A C&C where you respawn when you lose just feels utterly wrong. And if you start with playing the campaign, you will need at some point find yourself replaying the same mission several times just to get the EXP to get the construction options to beat the rest. Really dumb system. Also, apparently these EXP are just saved in a text file somewhere on your disk. I watched the story on youtube, and it was pretty dumb, too.
  21. No, no... if he'd planned it as Kane should've, he would've told his own people what the plan was. In TS, Slavik is praised for being the only one among Nod who dares to think and act decisively instead of just using Kane's disappearance as excuse for complacency. In TW, Killian is executed, for doing exactly the same thing
  22. Who needs skirmish? We've collected over 600 fan-made missions. And that's not even counting the campaigns, the Covert Operations, and the Playstation and Nintendo64 versions' unique missions I added to the game with the 1.06 patch.
  23. Default terrain on Winter looks strangely bright green on the minimap. Oh, please use png for these screenshots. Jpeg messes up all the colours and the details. (If you use cnc-ddraw, you can dump these automatically with ctrl+s)
  24. C&C3 is a great game, but the storyline... well... Kane loses his cool. Becomes angry. That kind of broke it for me. Kane never loses his cool! He just smiles mysteriously and says he planned it all that way! Still, pretty nice game.
