Heh. A base vs base mission with side objectives that allow you to get in? C&C has quite a lot of those, actually. But the Westwood people made the habit of never spelling those things out, so it took the player a few Mission Failed screens to figure it out. I know you love the word FREE, but this implies there's no need to buy / own the game. The playing online is "free, forever", as in, cncnet won't suddenly start asking money for it Though I guess we can't actually guarantee the "forever" part in terms of keeping the service running, technically. Forever is a long time (though IIRC the server side stuff is freely available, so, yeah.) -

CnCNet is a totally different server principle, though. XWIS is just the original way WW's online system worked. Just, using their servers. -

Chad1233 recently alerted me to its existence. The only thing I knew about it before was the fact the Westwood FTP contained/contains (that place is more in flux than Schrödinger's cat) a demo of it. -

Hehe. And when you're done with the campaign, as Tore already mentioned, there's some fun new missions in that New Missions menu, which I extracted from the playstation and Nintendo 64 versions of the game

That's usually censored versions in countries that don't like video games where you kill real people, though. C&C had robot soldiers instead :laugh:

C&C1 celltriggers don't react to stealthed units. It's actually really annoying for mission scripting :mad: On the AI abuse side: in C&C1, if the GDI enemy has an ion cannon, it's advised not to build Obelisks as Nod, but build groups of turrets instead, and build one single SAM site. The AI will target the SAM site, but as long as that isn't deployed, it can't destroy it. As long as you keep it repaired, it'll keep all your other buildings safe from ion cannons.

You realize that a lot of that game collection was created purely to help out people with problems, and to enhance C&C1, right? I bought the PS version of C&C1 to extract the missions from it to put them in my patch. I also put a unique C&C1 demo CD online, and a ton of scans and digital material from the things I bought.
