8-bit Armies - a new c&c from ex-Westwood
Chimas replied to Milkey Wilkey's topic in General Discussion
GreyGoo is such an under-rated game. 2 or 3 decisions combined brought down a great game. The AI for Skirmish is good now and if more maps are to be made, there will be a lot of time for fun and good games. -
Tiberian Dawn - The Huge Collection (single player)
Chimas replied to Chimas's topic in C&C Singleplayer Maps
Hi, Facing more than 600 options, some players asked for game references , so, a PDF called the Player Guide. was added to the COVER of this thread. These missions are not supposed to be the best ones. Actually, it's difficult to please players once they often come from the Multiplayer scene and whatever you say it's a difficult mission, they claim it is not. The Player Guide as of to this date is a DRAFT and I plan to reach around 20 reference missions. I'm also pointing to the Single player section of this forum, because the latest missions done by the community are already more complex than the old ones. But, for a while, none of them will be in the Player Guide. Now, as a consequence of this document, I'm asking anyone willing to play C&C to choose one of the following Authors and tell me which is his most interesting mission to put in the player guide (or two, when there are GDI and Nod missions): Kristian Tuszynski: 4 GDI - SCG136, SCG137, SCG138 and SCG139; Al Paterson: 4 GDI - SCG116, SCG127, SCG175 and SCG300; Matchman: 4 Nod - SCB204, SCB205, SCB206 and SCB207; Mike DeSeve: 4 Nod - SCB111, SCB112, SCB115 and SCB124; Gary Bryson: 11 (8 GDI and 3 Nod missions) SCG249 to SCG256, SCB102, SCB129 and SCB130; Mel Olson: 15 (10 GDI and 5 Nod missions) SCG149, SCG161, SCG215, CSG216, SCG263 to SCG268, SCB131-SCB135; Jeff Fehric: 22 GDI missions - SCG110, SCG115, SCG122, SCG123, SCG124, SCG125, SCG171, SCG177, SCG231, SCG232, SCG234, SCG235, SCG236, SCG237, SCG238, SCG320, SCG330, SCG334. Hi, A tip, once you're making new missions. Some time ago, one coleague here created 2 or 3 THEATERS - Jungle, Barren and a third one I don't remember. Anyway, you could have a try with those theaters. If anyone can help, I don't remember where are the threads, does anyone have the links? -
Cool acknowledgements, btw ...

Tiberian Dawn - Extended Operations *SEPTEMBER UPDATE*
Chimas replied to Darkstar387's topic in C&C Singleplayer Maps
I've finished Scorpion Sting. I think the units got blocked somewhere, it wasn't rushed for me. I'll play it without the shroud for testing (you know how to take out the shroud for mapmaking activity, right?) Btw, there's a typo, it's written "Scorpian". The NE of the map could have had some usefullness, but the mission is cool, nothing to change. -
Is this one of the unsolved parameters of the TEAMTYPE command line?

Tiberian Dawn - Extended Operations *SEPTEMBER UPDATE*
Chimas replied to Darkstar387's topic in C&C Singleplayer Maps
Hi Darkstar387, Your mission AirLand battle has a problem in the INI file. I've started the game and the map was poor. Later I realized it was missing the RIDGE layer. Couldn't understand the problem on the BIN file, but after opening the INI file and deleting the empty lines at the end, the game started to show back the ridges. Was there any special invisible character in the end of the file? Maybe it was just a problem on my end here, IDK. \edit there's a SPACE in the name of the BIN file. That might be it. -
Hey Messiah, do you have any descriptive TXT for this mission?

I'm having a look in these last published missions. I'll try this mission again in a few days, haven't finished yet. The only thing I disliked so far is the fact that you have only one resource and eventually you cross with obelisks. I know ppl wants the hardest missions possible, but this is not cool. Much better would be if you have to get in a place and the obelisks are down and after you destroy something, they "turn on". I know traps fit in a commando mission, but take the example of Nod buggies: You can't beat them, but you can do something before dying, it's not insta-kill.

Hi Jadran, Thanks for trying out the missions. I'll have a look in your corrections and if they make sense as they look like, I'll keep them. I'll have a look in the next few days/weekend. \edit I think I have visited this site before, I'll check in the weekend. I was happy thinking the files were there, but no ... -
Pfff, writing THAT way in portuguese, he's more like lazy than actually needing help. Just an opinion. If you need help, we can help. If you want babysitting, you won't get any. I hope you're not another HUE, that needs help now and will screw online games later.

Hi, In the last few days, a brand new RTS game came out - Homeworld: Deserts of Kharak. Have you tried it, did you like it? Real cool game, the missions are awesome.

Like said before, your wish looks like something that starts with an "O" and ends with an "A" Also, if I would be EA, I would make a remaster exactly like that ...

I've read somewhere, I think in a PCGamer article that the console makers are putting pressure on Studios to diminish the FPS from 60 to 30, so they can get rid of a lot of problems.
-
Read here: and see here https://www.reddit.com/r/pcmasterrace/comments/3wsd1r/look_out_guys_were_really_behind/ Btw, the issue here is not technology or reason, it's about trust and reputation - if it is, where is it?? My i7 here is making 144FPS and all I heard about consoles is 30 FPS. Seriously? Somebody at EA pls, sell C&C IP by tomorrow!!! pls ... edited for (even) bad grammar

Probably, I'll have a look. -
I'm very much enjoying Grey Goo. If you don't find it expensive, you could check it out.

Nah, go ahead, it will be fun! I'm not inspired to finish that mission, I have to focus on certain things of the Huge Collection. I am creating a player guide for the collection, so I'm playing missions now. Trying to find ways to tell people that some missions worth playing, but I have to play each one. Just do it, "surprise us" because people will like it!

I like that GDI mission where you have a repair pad and can't build new vehicles. I also like missions where you have to capture comm-centers. One mission I have in mind is called "During the blizzard" when a blizzard blocks the access to the Alpes where you have listening outposts. If you arrive first with the commando and his team(s), then you have to hold the position until reinforcements arrive. If you arrive late, you have to destroy "the protocols" (the buildings) and go to the extraction point. In practice it can be 2 missions in one, depending which direction you take. The listening outposts are 2 separate outposts, one is the "receiver" (adv comm-center) and the other is the "transmitter" (comm-center). If the enemy capture the outpost (comm-center), it starts the production trigger, which in practice starts creating checkpoints (gun towers) in places you have gone through that where empty in the beginning of the mission (lone spots with sandbags in the map). If you fail the first objective, you have the possibility to capture "white" comm-centers that exist in the map to call smaller reinforcements to destroy these checkpoints. See if that inspires you somehow.

Hmm, didn't see that in the first moment ...
