  1. I started in 1998/1999 time, Since before I went to school (which was in 2000) My dad had a copy of retaliation for the PS1. I wasn't great (I could beat the skirmish AI at least) but I throroughly enjoyed it. I'm keeping my line of "I could play RA before I could read"
  2. oh my god! Is that a contrsuction Yard? (lolz) But seriously this cityscape looks super sexy
  3. I think you would probably keep them, although it would be a cool mission mechanic if you didn't

Doing certain missions and tasks on permanent high speed can be very challenging. I can't imagine myself doing the starts of Twist of Fate, Blindsided or Infiltrated! with any decent success without slowing it down xD (especially on twist of fate, slowing the game down at the very start seems to make it like 6 times easier)

doing a recording (or even a livestream?) of a blind campaign play would be awesome.

I do tend to try and do missions as the developer intended (somewhat) It's never as fast but it does get more action out of the mission you're doing. I think it would be cooler to try and speedrun a campaign blind (as in, first try) or something like that
  7. He used a "Super" or "organic" (I forget which) warhead type which does 0% dmg to anything except infantry, so the truck would no longer react to being shot.

Exploiting glitches does help a lot doesnt it Escpecially in that video you did of "Deceit"

Damn. That Nod Death Squad video is awesome.
  10. im not sure this is still the case but when I installed I got given 2 executables (like RA95.exe and spawn.exe or w/e its called) I have C&C95.exe which has all the missions and Covert Ops, but missing a couple of the online features (My sidebar has strange effects in hires, a different thing), while cnc95.exe has all the online stuff working but misses the covert ops. Also the screen glitch problem doesn't affect at all how the game runs, its just because your chosen resolution is larger than the actual map. The first missions (for GDI and Nod) have tiny maps, so its not unusual. You can just ignore it.
  11. destroy commonication centre "x" to stop enemy backup? RA did that if you remember, although mapping in RA is slightly easier (and I'm still dumb with it)
  12. I was talking about singleplayer as well but say what you like. I'm sticking with what I said.
  13. I found Tiberian Sun a bit disappointing as well. Dreary, slow and lacking in intensity. Maybe because I found playing defensive to be too powerful.
  14. I guess the whole point is you can't simplify it into one formula because there are so many different permutations and variables to take into account Like spending $800 on 5 grens or 2 hummers or a medium tank and putting them vs bikes. Or something, youd get different results all the time.
  15. could that be expanded in a simplifed model to dmg*time/cost to say measure the unit efficicency, or is that going too far. It would be like comparing Mammoth and Medium tanks.
  16. I think the one on eveerybody's minds are the MRLS, maybe bikes, hummer or smh. But this comes down to how you'd want to change the balancing of the game. In fact I'd probably give the Tib Dawn Light tank a small dmg up
  17. probably compensation for RA where just spamming tanks was OP as hell, they made tank/titan spamming a retarded tactic (like wtf are Nod supposed to build other than commandoes, apcs and banshees)
  18. Regardless of how derogatory you are being, you're not changing my opinion. I say what I want to say. Rebalancing and how successful is down to how the person doing it applies it. whenever I "rebalance" things I often focus on ground units, because thats how I play. I nerf the crap out of air units.
  19. The upgrading repair bay thing is a really interesting concept, it would almost have some sort of its own balancing act with improving units like "you can improve them all at a small cost but you've got to send them back to base to do it" rather than just having some renegade dudes far away randomly acquiring new stuff. Maybe expand it to be its own building similar to the repair bay. My only thing would be if you had to upgrade a huge chunk of tanks, would you have to update each one seperately, or could you use a group queue? In the current C&C1 engine that would be such a huge nightmare to carry out manually...
  20. it would be until you beat the singleplayer. Again.
  21. I wouldn't say TiberianSun best demonstrates that point but what I said was written off the top of my head.
  22. I feel like a major re-balance would have to be something totally different to what was originally created (like making a version of RA where it wasn't all tanks), usually done via mods (be it rules.ini or standalone) On a game like tiberian dawn, not only is this difficult to do, but you don't NEED to do it. A couple of minor tweaks here and there and you can get something that plays very similar but with a different flair to it. A major re-balance almost forces you to re-learn the whole game (and find the new weird exploits/OP units) whereas a small tweak mod kinda numbs down the OP things and makes the rock-paper-scissors effect much more obvious and viable. Thats the kind of effect I like to see. Although if I ever bother to learn a form of programming id make my own complete thing.
  23. I think a ladder (should it appear) would have its positives and its negatives. It will stop people constantly complaining about a lack of ladder (but fuck those guys) - if you really want a ladder, help implement it yourself rather than just shouting. It will encourage more competitive playing and more players to join and obviously it can be nice to show off HOWEVER You get cheaters, and people arguing about cheating (look at the Tiberian Sun community on here, its people from xwis hating on people from xwis because they "cheat") The way cncnet actually works should reduce that a lot though and obviously theres the mess of maintaining it all and all that. Honestly im on the fence in terms of a ladder. Do we want more assholes calling each other assholes?
  24. you could open a randomly generated map in the editor and paste over the rock terrain to make it look nicer? take like 2 minutes
