  2. i tried to play it but when i select the map and people join my game it says its trying to upload it to the cncnet database then it says uploading failed. how does this work i have no idea.
  3. changed the file extension from .ylm to .map and it worked.

  5. Thanks man, thought about playing this map yesterday. I put the mapfile in map>custom but I could not find it in the client. What I did wrong?

  10. War miners cary 1000 opposed to 500 for chrono miners. Makes sense since war miners travel twice as far.

  14. lol you are making alot of assumptions, but you are not alone: http://xwis.net/forums/index.php/topic/62083-the-who-is-topic/page-693?hl=heldro2#entry1583085 noobs playing noobmaps are always in the majority. its not any different on cncnet. 90% of the games on cncnet are noobgames, go take a look on the xwis forums and you will see alot of people claiming the same about cncnet as you are about gr. truth is; they dont take the effort to find good games, they take a look 1 or 2 times play a few random games against noobs and conclude everyone must be a noob and dismiss everyone who claims otherwise, i guess you must have came to that conclusion about gr the same way. i been playing on gameranger for years and there have always been a fairly large group of competent players, now its not as much as it used to be some years ago. last year gr saw an increase of xwis players since gr is superior for 2v2 ffg, ra2 that is. actually, most of the experienced players on cncnet used to play yr on gr before cncnet hosted yr. nobody plays yr on gr anymore nowadays.

  18. I was talking about sending a dog up front to defend your engineer, your opponent sending his dog trying to kill your engineer managing to kill your dog. I will always ask my opponent if he agrees to not eat engineers. if he doesnt then ye i will not just send my engi unprotected. but if you are unlucky in your dogfights you are behind in economy because of luck and i dont like luck to influence my games thats why i also dont play with crates on. you can also argue alting ref's and wf's is part of the game but most do frown upon that aswell. anyway it doesnt matter if we disagree. was just trying to explain since you said you dident understand the point of it. there is a reason it is a unwritten rule on the xwis servers and also for most of the experienced players on gr and cncnet. my point was trying to elaborate that reason. when there was a topic open in this forums for people to reuest options for the yr client many requested this and multi engineer, thats how it got added to the client.

How is it not back luck? like i said dogfights are mostly based on luck, sure defending dogs have a higher chance of winning so you can argue that soviets are at an advantage at that because they will have their dogs out faster. if both players are not total beginners they will send their dogs and engi's out at the same time to get their oils in the beginning of the game. if your dog loses and your engineer gets eaten you are behind in economy and if you are around the same level your opponent will have a easy time rushing you, even a player lower in skill will successfully rush you.
  20. No dog engineer kill "no eat" is a very common rule for 1v1 games. Reason for this is because dog vs dog fights is mostly luck based. so when a player takes his oil buildings in the start while killing his opponents engineers he has a massive economy advantage which is hard to recover from so early in the game. so basicly its just ruling out a victory by luck. the idea behind multi engineer is also ruling out luck, it does not require alot of skill or risk to try to rush a engineer to the opponents mcv while losing your mcv so early is again hard to recover from.
  21. i do agree apocs should be stronger. they are a cool unit but when do you ever see them except for long camp games. about your mod maps, i do think it looks cool and does makes it possible to use other units and tactics, which can be fun. but it just changes the game too much overall and probably just changes the balance but doesnt fix it. the game sure needed some balancing but we just played like this too long to want to consider changing anything seriously.
