Emperor: Battle for Dune tried to work with winning/losing areas as campaign mechanic, where the AIs got turns to attack your areas too. It was an interesting concept, but since each area was a "mission"... well, let's just say, rescuing these same Ixian scientists for the 4th time got a bit tedious

The ping test tests your connection to Google, if I remember correctly. It would be more logical if it tried to contact the cncnet server, or something...

Yeah... just do a stealth sweep. Plenty of tricks for that which you can use in late game. You'll flush them out eventually.

From a programming point of view, it probably does, since the building and the plane get 'linked' somehow. I suspect this is similar to how refinery, repair bay and helipad docking works.

No, I mean that simply pressing "save" in the config tool should insert the section. No need to add it manually then, right? Or doesn't the editor hold default values for them? On that note, a "reset" button would be handy too, there.

Actually, no, sorry. That pic is wholly inaccurate. ... It's from 2011. I got a bunch more now Preferably not. That's my bed they're spread out on. I kinda need to sleep there, and I can't do that if it's full of C&C

No... it's to help support the launching of new commercial projects. CnCNet is neither new nor commercial. What can we offer people who pledge money? A year of free C&C online? :roll: Not to mention, the money would be to allow the development of the project. But guess what... getting money from a kickstarter doesn't give any of us more free time off from our day jobs to work on that. Employment contracts don't work like that. And I don't think any of us will actually quit our job for this. There is a paypal donation button on the cncnet site. If people want to help out financially, they should donate to that; it's used to finance the servers.

Honestly, though... OpenRA never even TRIED to get close to the original game feel.

It seems that with cnc-ddraw, on my Win7, C&C95 is detected as "not responding" by the system in certain places where there is no user input (WSA animation play, more specifically). This immediately disables both graphical updating and sound. It seriously ruins the map selection screen. Anyone have any idea what could cause this, and what could fix it?

Open the sidebar. It fixes that problem. It's related to loading savegames saved in a different resolution. From what I see here, the option to adjust to C&C aspect ratio was disabled. The code to fix the different resolutions savegame stuff is mostly sidebar-related, so I basically did a reload of the entire sidebar initialization.. However, for some reason this doesn't actually take effect until the sidebar is drawn, despite the reset executing on mission load. Shouldn't it insert those automatically on save anyway? My ini system has no problems inserting new sections... and a good implementation should write all of the keys, not just the changed ones.

Really, though... I'm very much looking forward to Grey Goo. It looks fantastic. A campaign of 15 missions, though? That's the length of just one of the campaigns of C&C1... Not only does C&C have two, it has several alternate choices, too. So 15 missions is kinda disappointing, for a whole game. Watch these two videos and find out? In the second, the release date is mentioned at the end. January 23 I think he said.
