  1. Sorry guys, I won't fall into the discussion, I have nothing to add. What do you think about openra(?) I played it sometimes and whenever there is an update I DL it. There are some things I'm disliking, but I'll keep it to myself and tell the developers in another moment, nothing really important, might be an issue in my end. To anyone in doubt of trying, I say you should go ahead and try, it's a respectable project with many supporters. even more important if you're a RTS player, because sometimes we have this fear of the "end is near" for RTS. That being said, with so many capabilities and well deployed so far, for free and over night work (probably), I would advise to start creating a 4th MOD (being 1=dune, 2=C&C and 3=RA), this time a new and original game universe with new units, new features and certainly, not open. Doesn't have to be a primary goal, just something to observe how you feel about it and what else can it brings. Focus more in the SP experience for this MOD and stop other attempts to replicate what already exists. The reason behind this thinking is because I worked (hobby) for 2 years in a Remastering project and whenever we had good ideas to implement, the Buls*** "canonical" argument was there and I saw some skilled people accepting to be bound to the original game limits. Now that you have reputation, start sailing, become a 300 supporter team project. Waiting for the next build ...
  2. For those interested in playing C&C Tiberian Dawn in DOS, I cleaned up and reorganize the ZIP files: I'm editing the content in the forums but the file is updated. ::: ZIP file - 2.9 Mb ::: Link1 ::: Link2 ::: ::: Inventory Survey ::: Estimate 84,8 % of the project achieved in its actual size. Greetings!
  3. Would like to see with how many other car types he's able to pull that off. I had to give a help on a car crash here and more than 10 ppl were not able to break the windows with fire extinguishers (the "tool" available). Later, we were discussing if that was an exception or the rule. IT was scary to see the guy inside helpless and wounded. We had to wait for the fire fighters, but we didn't panic because there was no fire. Lucky him.
  4. Just speculating here, but they are developing a game with 3D units, physics rendered shaders (needs confirmation), etc or they will add campaigns for other factions later as DLC? I mean, it seems for these studios that their will is to focus on Multiplayer aspects, in order to develop better the gameplay, engine, balance, behavior refinements, etc. In the other hand, the players often wants a single player experience as part of the core of the game. So, they bring SP mode to a minimal acceptable level. I'm not a game maker, but if I would be developing a RTS today, to diminish the time of development, I would create a solid MP mode and leave the SP mode for an expansion/DLC. I would even create early factions for the MP mode and leave the main factions of the game universe to debut in later access. Otherwise, even with a large team it will take 5 years at least to develop a complete game with 2 campaigns. Just opinion, not an expert.

Hey Nyerguds, thanks for the matterial. I'll spend some time with them and see what makes sense or not. \edit If SCG85EA is not a campaign, I'll put them in another section.
  6. Check if you like the hyperlink with Limegreen color instead of white color.
  7. Hi, I was thinking a way to mark inside the INDEX file, what kind of missions the player will be facing, so before I talk about the scale, I'll refer how I reached it. One dimension is boring, interesting and exciting. The next is short and long missions. And the last is Incomplete, easy and hard. That gives 18 points that were reduced to 5 (+2). ShortLong Incomplete Easy Hard Incomplete Easy Hard Boring 122122 Interesting 33-452-34-55-6 Exciting -4-55(7)--6(7) So the Scale is: SCALE 1 - Weak, incomplete, broken, lacks T&T 2 - Boring, flat or empty map, too much work for simple moves, excess of defenses* 3 - Promising but few T&T 4 - Easy but interesting 5 - Hard (thick layer here) 6 - Long mission 7 - Must-play A) Due to the nature of the project, the interest is on missions with 1-3 ratings to check if they are "broken". I remembered to see a case where the mapmaker made a big map, a lot of units and one enemy reinforcement was a single chinook. Then, you have to play the mission and try to understand that. So, I'm looking for missions with these possible context errors. B) My kind of "hard" (5) is probably easier for most players. And the "must-play"s (7) are cool maps I played during the ascension of my learning curve, but I kept them that way. There are many good missions that I have to play again, that's why there is no evaluation. And there are even more maps I haven't played yet. C)* Excess of defenses means structures for defenses and structures for energy, overloading the map. D) An automatic information now are the number of triggers, teamtypes and the base section: the lower the number, the yellow it gets. I'll be evaluating those missions next. Check these sections inside the INDEX file. If you have played anything I haven't evaluated, let me know. Right now, I'm testing with the GDI mini-campaigns, results are in the INDEX file. Later, I hope all this helps the player to choose the best missions to play.

Hi there, For our resident project Tiberian Dawn - The Huge Collection, eventually we have briefings written in GERMAN and as we have folks here that are or speak german, I usually ask them to translate. There are four campaigns left with +/- 7 missions each and the translation from German to English language is needed. For 2 of them it's also needed a name for the campaign. I'll review later the Nod case, there might be one or two requiring the same thing, I'll post here again. I created a topic, once it's a lot of breifings and if someone wanna take a look and discuss the issue. Just remember: those briefings are from almost 20 years ago, possibly done by someone at 15, so just make the briefings useful (if it's the case). I need them to understand goals and eventually fix broken triggers and teamtypes. All of the briefings are attached. Those missions in original state are here, in case you wanna play or have a look in an editor. Greetings! GDI88.Pack.Translation.txt GDI87.Translation.txt GDI86.Translation.txt GDI85.Translation.txt
  9. Ah ok, I've changed it now. I write part of the link in the address bar then copy and paste, didn't notice the theme.
  10. Some tool updates! (lazy mediafire links later...) File to check INI files: link1 File with Westwood missions: Link2 The brief descriptive Index of fan-made missions: Link3 Cover
  11. Feliz Natal a todos! PS - ahah, cool effect ...
  12. Hi Kilkakon, I would suggest you to break it in 2 phases: 1 - Map design 2 - Script Just ask in phase 1 to present the map, the name of the mission, the briefing and maybe some units and building to make some points. You might find a few ppl willing to submit a map, but without patience to code the mission. Would be fun to have some empty maps where we send you a trigger and a teamtype to work on there and you integrate all the triggers and teamtypes. Just a thought ...
  13. Hi Tore, I use my cnc-comm with the "Recent" filter paying attention to the last posts. Usually 10 posts cover the changes over for a day. Recently I've noticed that I need now 3 or 4 pages (of 10 last posts) to cover a day, so congrats for the job on cnc-comm and thanks also to our supporters. Greetings!
  14. Some guys and I here did some recovery for Tiberian Dawn: cnc-comm.com/community/index.php?topic=1786.0
  15. Hi, I would like to create an address for my project that incorporates the theme of choice: This is the current address: http://cnc-comm.com/community/index.php?topic=1786.0 I want to make 2 links where when you click any of them it will change the page there to the proper choice, if possible.
  16. Hey White, can you make a TD version for the RPG guy? Or if it's easy, can I use it in a mission in TD (acknowledgements included)? PM me about it ...
  17. If you consider succeeding in the first try, then they are pretty hard. If you're considering replaying them until you succeed, then there are others even worst. Of course, I'm not here just to comment the thread eheheheh. I advise you after you finish the Westwood phase, have a try on this project, there are almost 600 missions released in there. But don't hurry up, enjoy your moments with the Covert Operations, I play them eventually, very cool stuff. As a matter of fact, I'm paying a tribute to the GDI mission Twist of Fate, making the Nod version in SNOW theater. The innitial part I have mastered, the problem now is to make so many Tiberium fields far away. My advise to any player coming back to TD is this order: - play the ORIGINAL CAMPAIGNS, - COVERT OPERATIONS, - the recovered missions from N64, - the Kohrus missions, then the rest. Any doubt or feedback, let me know.
  18. 14 missions = 5 mini-campaigns released in SCG900 Estimate 81,1 % of the project achieved in its actual size. Direct Catalog Update: Link1 ::: Link2 +5 mini-campaigns by the end of the weekend later, probably finishing the GDI mini-campaigns* section + Mission Index updated Missions: SCG910 - Invasion UK - Giles Young SCG911 - OnSlaught - OmegaBolt SCG912 - Strange Days - Tarabas SCG913 - After M15 - Dan Heath SCG914 - Villagers - James Collard SCG915 - Men of War - Jeff Fehric * up to 3 missions
  19. Well, I guess we could make a fan-made community campaign. I have 2 available single-player maps unfinished, for example. We would need to make a good backstory for this campaign though. Don't have to be an epic story like "kane is back" or something, just a small story where things are connected. Also, we have so many theaters and colorschemes now that the story can be set in seasons in the same region, like you start in Russia and end in Afeghanistan. Since the original was a parody to iugoslavia and somalia conflicts of the 90's we could set something around Iran, Iraq, Afeghanistan, Pakistan, Ukraine, etc. Paralel to the backstory, we would have to study military premises like the one White offered. I mean trying to portray a special difficulty in game-play. One mission I was thinking is a village that is infested by Tiberium, is surrounded by a river and the civillians are bombarded by the MRLS, so you have to evac fast.
  20. I have some missions release scheduled for October, but haven't started editing them yet. I was playing TD today, so this is a "sign" that I'll start working on it soon.
  21. I'd like to know if we got anti-spoiler system?
  22. Hi Mussuy, I think you had great ideas, but the FTNK is not good or not "natural" enough, it still looks 2 tanks on top of each other. An option I would suggest you is to get the LTNK or even the MTNK and ADD the white gas tanks on the rear of the tower. they don't have to be the actual size, it can be a bit smaller to represent that you had to find space in a rotating tower, for example. You'd have to diminish the size of the barrel too to represent the locally restricted action of the flames. One other subject: check if it's possible to make an APC that does not turn to shoot the machine gun (like the case of the Hum-vee)? I'm thinking of changing an APC to a M35 truck in a mission I'm building. But it gets awkward if that truck keeps spinning to shoot all the time.
  23. *cof* not only finish it, but more important, including those that are finished in 1.06D *cof*cof* rsrsrsrs
  24. Do you mean private message system, aka PM OR will you provide a "user at address.com" e-mail?
  25. I was just trying to provide a way to make some tests and get experience in a less complicated scenario ...
