I'm curious, how much does recompressing them save in the MIX file? 6 MB per file sounds like a lot.. Could someone recompress (with highest compression ratio) all the SHP and WSA files in the MAIN.MIX and REDALERT.MIX files in my mini-RA zip? Try re-encoding the radar animations too, they are very large and before I added some patch to force memory compression in-game (the game would disable it when you have more than 4 MB ram) building a Radar Dome would sometimes cause crashes because of the radar animation.

Oh right yeah it's empty in RA. You can re-implement by iterating over all heaps and calling the write INI function for every object type.. -

IIRC yes. The function is called Write_Scenario(). It's there in TS though and I hooked it onto a hotkey before. It's on PPM forums research center for TS subforums. -

Nyerguds: The function should exist in all of the older C&C games....it's probably what was used by the in-game map editor during development. It's located next to Read_Scenario(). So yes the savegames ought to be reversible into mission files... -
Can't wait for full map viewing. Are you guys already able to support larger maps than the original game does? Might be cool to add map editor support.

Yes getting map drawing working requires A LOT of underlying logic. Really amazing you guys are so far already. Getting map drawing working is a MAJOR milestone. The next major milestone is getting player logic working (so you can play a multiplayer game with one player). Which woud just mean having a player be able to build buildings from sidebar. Afterwards infantry then vehicles then naval and planes.

Use OpenBroadcaster to capture, set the software to use custom FFMPEG encoding with lossless x264 at 4:4:4 YUV, audio at highest possible value. Set it to run x264 at ultra-fast with lossless. After the video is captured have it re-encode to x264 losless again at slow or veryslow (and have it COPY the audio track in the original losless capture, not re-encode audio). Also upscale to 1440p if capturing at 720p and resize to 2160p if capturing at 1080p. That will give you nearlesss encodes on YouTube. The only issue is that YouTube re-encodes videos to use 4:2:0 chroma color compression, so colors are (especially red ones are very blurry). You need to upscale to get decent bitrate and good quality on YouTube.

You can use fake houses Spawn1 to Spawn8 to give players starting at a specific spawning location units & buildings to start with. Ask Bittah_Commander or Aro on how this works. DTA's map editor might have built-in support for it.

Pretty cool of you to take the time to get high quality sound working. I'm the guy who wrote the patch to get music.ini (basically adding custom sound) working, based on the idea's from Nyerguds' patch for C&C95. -
win 8 added a specific compatibility mode for programs to set the color depth for them, so you can set 16 bit depth on only TS.
