This error message pops up all the time when I am on the client. If I go join CNCnet lobby it'll pop up once, then I click either YES or NO and then it pops up 2 more times before it goes away. It only happens with CNCNet, so it's not some random virus or something. And it seems to have no effect on how the client runs. I think I have Windows 7 on this computer. I imagine this error has something to do with my computer rather then CNCNet, but any ideas?

Yeah-- Just my guess, but it would require a lot of work and time to get a working 2on2 clan ladder system up compared to the QM ladder that we have up. Why? Because we need to implement a clan system (maybe not TOO hard since we have an account profile). We'd need to implement a ladder based off it (also, not too hard since we have the QM ladder). But we need to make an interface option to work in the client, so now we'd need to be able to sign into CNCNet lobby with our ladder accounts (something we don't have currently), then create ranked clan games (something we don't have currently, although I think it might have been used in the alpha stage of the ladder testing), and have the ranked games correctly give points output in 2on2 and 3on3 formats. Bit of a tough assignment, I think, but highly worthy of implementing. 4on4 clan matches anyone? hell yeah. Unfortunately, the current QM ladder is still in the early beta stage as we get the functionality options down, map list, and point system working, a long with correcting all the various bugs that we've found in the ladder testers forum.

This is a wayback machine which logs screenshots of various websites over the years. Unfortunately, it is shotty in that it has very limited results. It can be further found in this thread on XWIS: http://xwis.net/forums/index.php/topic/40036-all-links-to-old-ladders/ I went to one of the direct links to the ladder as the first post links are dead.

The problem was WOL did not have a matching filter early on, so you'd match with whomever you got matched with... and with 100,000+++ players, you can imagine how difficult it was to find a top 50 player. Of course, a WOL matching filter was eventually implemented to help this (thus you matched players within a certain point range). Additionally, you'd bail players who were better then you under 3 minutes. And also, a number of players would DC when losing. Also, the fact that you had a very special 3* badge at 1001 points (the real signification that you were 'somebody') made players do anything and everything to reach the 1001 points mark (they'd push each other to 1001 points, then they'd use the 1001 points name immediately to push the other person, etc.).
-
Leo, YR WOL times were greatly different, there is no question about that. 3 minute bail time, a ton of random maps in QM led to a Yuri's and allied dominance over the ladder. That just makes sense. Check this ladder out from December 24, 2002, you are rank 3. There are 9 Yuri faction players out of 11 in the top 11. http://web.archive.org/web/20021224210720/http://games2.westwood.com:80/yuriX_ladder/ranking.html June 14, 2002: http://web.archive.org/web/20020614182537/http://games2.westwood.com:80/yuriX_ladder/ranking.html Nov 14, 2001: http://web.archive.org/web/20011114085956/http://games2.westwood.com:80/yuriX_ladder/ranking.html 1 Soviet player in top 10 I mean, I'm not trying to prove anything by posting wayback machine snapshots of the ladder from 2002 era other than it was a completely different style of play and it was incredibly imbalanced. We have honed the game since then.

Lol, Leo -- now, I respect you as the best current Yuri faction player on the game. So, don't take this the wrong way from me... But you've posted a ton of 'retarded bullshit' here (to quote Matt). You claim that the old WOL players would wipe the floor with the players today first, and then you retract by stating that there is no point to discuss it. The evolved players of today would destroy the old players. The only thing the old players had going from them was activity. The bo's have been mastered and the few top players that are still left would destroy them today. Besides -- you are right that it is useless discussing this, their two pretty different systems -- WOL had some 30 maps thrown in with no regard to balancing issues, had a 3 minute (JESUS CHRIST) bail timer, and had an active base of 100,000's of newbs. You are claiming that you could not make any mistakes and win games back then? Where are you going with this absurd claim? Of course you could make mistakes and win back then. It's no different from today, lol. You did not have to play perfect to win back then, much like you do not have to play perfect to win now. In fact, it is even worse in terms of making mistakes now compared to then. Why? Because now, on average, you are playing a tougher opponent with no protective 3 minute bail time. If I made a mistake on WOL, I just say ok, bye, quit game get no recorded loss. One of the possible reasons allied players teched as fast as possible on WOL was because there was an insane 3 minute bail time. If someone rushed an allied they'd just quit. lolol. You seem to be insinuating that there is no or very little balance issues and that players should just 'man up' and play the game. Good luck with that argument. If you think Yuri isn't OP then your opinion is pretty worthless here. Especially considering that you've only played Yuri in the past 10 years from what I recall in the ladder standings. Bias much?

@Lud0wigit's clear to me now that you have severe personal issues that run more deep then any possible issue with me personally. After initially posting here, I received a PM or two from people stating that it's 'just the way you are' aka -- an asshole. From your obvious flame+disconnects to Marko, it's clear that you are one of the typical stooges that show up on every ladder. You are now entering troll-mode as you post your typical one-liners in response to everything. At least now, you are ousted as a nutcase and I (and others) will know now going forward in the ladder. This guy is clear A+ level troll. Responds to Marko's post asking "pulled what?" then I explain what Marko meant and he says "I know, why would I do that?". What an idiot.
-
Is reading comprehension a problem for you? Your last 2 posts have shown a very low level of reading comprehension. 1) 'Pulled what" refers to you disconnecting the internet cord. 2) You threatened Marko by telling him to 'watch his language, or he won't be here for too long' implying some sort of ban.
-
Excuse me, what?? What did Marko say that was worthy of being banned for one? For two, don't threaten people as if you are a mod, haha, what a joke man!
-
I have seen a lot of mixed results on this topic. Is there a way to get CNCNet and YR running on linux (Ubuntu 16.04) ? If so, is there any step-by-step instructions on this?
-
haha no -- unfortunately, that's an impossibility in my current state... it's a big year for me. It's hard to get back into the swing of things when you can't consistently play. Instead, I can procrastinate by posting on these forums and helping out where I can. As for lud0, it's cool -- maybe it's a language barrier or something -- just try to not be a prick to people who lose to you... and uhhh, if you didn't enjoy a game, stating 'bg' is probably not the best thing to do either.
-
I'm not going to respond to your entire wall of one-liners (you seem to do that in most of your posts), but you did have one good paragraph of substance. Let me explain something to you: After I built four buildings (Power-Barracks-Ore ref-Warfac) you typed "bad bo". Four buildings man!!! I could know something you don't, but no -- you automatically assumed that my bo was bad after just 4 buildings. Your attitude with that one statement was astoundingly cocky, but I brushed it off in the interest that I might learn something that I did wrong. Of course, you didn't tell me anything more, just "bad bo." Yes -- I had done a poor scout job of the map, didn't see you going more war facs, had a hard time seeing where your tanks where going. It's hard to have great TC in that pinch point (that was the first time I did the bo where I stretched to the right side like that and probably my last based on how you had complete control to the game similiar to Dry Heat. Once again tho, to say "bad tc" to a player that is clearly a good player is arrogant and asking to be called out on. However, again, I did not respond to the antics, I just enjoyed the game. I fought hard, but it was moot -- the game was over, I say gg, and then the ultimate insult saying "bg". You don't say bg to others when you win man, that is just bullshit and insult to injury. That was the tipping point to me -- you are just an asshole. I look forward to kicking your ass in the future.
-
@Lud0wig what's your deal mate? I match with you on coldest peak, a map I've played probably 10-15 times in a span of 5+ years as a rusty af (As fuck) old timer who has played about 150 total games in a 7 month span and you are telling me that I have a bad BO, bad tank control, and our game was a 'bg (bad game". IF you have an issue you can say it here, otherwise I'd respond with the fact that you have a sub 50% winning percentage this month AND last month (that's not good by the way). Our score is still 3-3 overall on your MustacheY and Lud0wig accounts (and the heartland game first was my third game back in over 6 months, so congrats on that win) and the other 2 of your wins came on maps I'm not too familiar with yet. Like, there's 2 possibilities: Either a) you have something against me OR b) you absolutely have no people skills/ are a total asshole. Judging from the way you respond to people, I'm leaning it's option b.

Problem here in the train of thought is that without SW, we can't play maps like Depth Charge, DVG, Hammer, Alasakan Oil .... pretty much any map that is dominated by water/campy points, which then it reverts back to our main agreeance/dispute. I agree that maps that don't require SW's often have a more balanced matchup AvS without super weapons. However, then you need to eliminate a lot of these fun maps which have "creative" outputs in gameplay. In regards to Yuri, I think that is a poor way of thinking. "If I can't play my yuri on any map, then Yuri should just be banned!" I think you can see why this is. It is a hassle to go map-by-map and pick out ones that Yuri can be more balanced on, but that's why we are here :D. As an Iraq player, I would love to see Yuri banned from rank games, but that's just not going to fly in the community. Best to just find maps that at least give a player the chance to consistently beat yuri. The one problem with CNCNet and France that I am now seeing thanks to your post is that we now have the ability to pick our faction on a map-by-map basis. France on certain maps is close to broken (face down, offense defense perhaps). If, I, as the user, just chose France on certain maps and then other teams on other maps that does give a very big advantage to choosing France as it takes away the downside of having France on the 90% of maps that it is useless. Might be worth thinking about for the future. I think what could be possible is non SW AvS games on a certain amount of maps, then mirror matchups on some of the more “creative” style maps with SW on so we get the best of both worlds. That seems to keep the best of both worlds happy where can still utilize all map scenarios yet have a more balanced AvS game where super weapons do not have to be on for both teams to have a chance long and short term. Thanks for posting good logical arguments and finding agreeable points. Sorry the quote system on here sucks so I couldn't line up my thoughts exactly with your paragraphs.
-
Everything you said in your first paragraph is correct. With all due respect to the great Kireeek, from the last time I saw his play, he was not at my level of play. Also, with your hypothetical game set as an allied player I do not play the long game, I play wars+para+grizz+___ style. I am more of an aggressive style player, so that challenge would be moot. I agree SW in team games are often not the best for competitive skill-based play. This is because they are completely unpredictable and can end games fast without using skill in 3on3 / 4on4 games. Additionally, in team games you have players on your squad that are allies/soviets so you have easy counters to everything and the map is consumed by all players shortly. No reason for supers on in these games unless it's just for fun in FFGs, then they are a hell of a lot of fun. I already agreed that if you hypothetically selected a handful of maps and turned supers off, you can have awesome skill based games AvS that might be the best that this game has to offer (for instance -- your set up with Buff/Marko was probably really great). However, my argument is not from selecting a few hand picked maps and banning teams like France/Yuri. I am interested in the most generalized set up that works across many different maps/situations and promotes a more creative style of play and for this, we often need supers on. I will agree that if you wanted the best possible matchup between two amazingly skilled players, you'd want to have SW off and a very limited map pool. I will disagree with you if you argue that this is the best route moving forward for anything like the global QM listing. It might be a great round robin tournament setup.
-
Just to update again: I'm getting this in almost any game I join. 1on1's, 6 player, doesn't matter -- Hard AI error.
-
Yes, this has been a very nasty error making the client borderline unplayable. Hopefully the fix on Saturday will solve it :D.
-
Who is... MustacheZ, MustacheY, and MustacheX? (Of course we know who X is :p). We now have 3 dimensions of Mustache on the ladder. Which dimension is the best? Are we going to venture into spherical coordinates next? Cylindrical?
-
It's not just happening in 8 player games for me... it's happening in nearly any game.
-
Nice one, but that's not fair -- you have two engi ifvs with it :p.
-
Yeah -- I mean, I've successfully used allies hit n run on YR QM many times. I'm not saying that I've consistently beat the top players, but as allies that's always my go to. That said, I haven't used allies competitively in over a decade, so.... take it with a grain of salt. I still agree that the most masterful way on YR is to tech, but that takes incredible skill/BO's on many maps and situations. Of course, situational tactics as Luci mentioned reign supreme over all, but in complete generality I have great confidence in the allies hit n run techniques. I'd also love to see a good stream of you AvS vs. Justin or Vwwww since you are so confident.

Sorry for getting back to you late, @CekaJ (Jake), but I've had a lot on my plate in the past few days, let's digest: First, please don't insult me -- I am a former 9 time rank 1 ladder champion with more hall of fames then just about anyone on the game. I know how to beat allied players late game and understand the importance of a siege chopper. You are the one who has only been here 6 months and has not accomplished anything (admittedly -- that's because there hasn't been a ladder for you to accomplish anything on). I don't know what kind of strategy you/Kireeek are on, but this is not a mod map FFG situation. The idea that you can amass Siege choppers and rhinos to take out BF's is silly. That'll never exist in 1on1's. Rocketeers work 100x better, but obviously that is allied. Although siege choppers are of great use. I will say (and agree with you) that a random option of SW does not produce the optimal competitiveness for the logic you stated. I was wrong in my reply post stating that the best option is random SW. What I ought to say is that I think the most fun is random SW, but you are right -- random options (especially SW) is detrimental to a competitive QM atmosphere. Good points. On Yuri -- there will NOT be a separate ladder or modes for Yuri faction. This is a serious activity issue -- we barely have 500 able yuri's revenge players, let alone 100 in a ladder month, splitting them across 2 modes would be a disaster. Also, yuri will never be banned from QM as most of the community respects it as part of the YR game. I believe this train of thought is more philosophical than logic based, but it is what it is -- so it is moot to consider 'banning it', whatever the logic may be. After many years of playing, the community has found maps that make yuri (at least somewhat) consistently beatable through skill. Just as a note: It has been possible in the past to set Superweapons on/off based on faction playing, so theoretically, we could have SvY have SW always on and at the same time have YvA superweapons always off, which is something I proposed a long while back to balance yuri games further. Also, I will say that the yuri faction did NOT dominate the ladder in YR XWIS play time. This could be because most pro players decided to use allied/soviet sides, but until we see Yuri faction dominating the ladders with consistent results, there's not an argument that the Yuri faction will easily dominate the ladder. On France -- I do not understand why parts of the community are fearful of France. I have no problem against France -- ever. It's obvious what France is going to do on the very few maps that it makes a difference and on 90% of the other maps it is almost as bad as Germany. I can see how it warps the game and makes it a slightly different game, but I think this is fine. I see no reason to ban france unless it is a FFG and we want to promote a certain playstyle. In any 1on1 atmosphere, France is a pretty easy team to take down. You are also right that if we ban maps accordingly, we could have a very balanced AvS matchup without superweapons. That has been historically what we've done on Ra2 in 'tournament matchups' instead of QM. Players have played their select maps without supers on. However, this is another philosophical dilemma you bring up (and also one that will never get promoted by the community): Do you like one-dimension 'pro' playstyles or more creative games? The one dimensional pro games don't necessarily need SW as the maps don't rely on crazy situations as much, however, QM has always been about using your skills across a wide range of situations like Death Valley Girl, Hammer and Sickle, Isle, Tanya's Training Grounds, etc. etc. instead of just playing the straight up pro maps. For obvious reasons, these more creative situations require supers to be on. The community almost universally wants QM to feel fresh with a mix of pro maps and creative/obscure maps included. To sum up some main points: 1) AvS will never be balanced. They are two completely different teams with different styles. Trying to force a balance on them with superweapons off always, and banning many maps will not work and lead to a very one dimensional play style that the community will not get behind. Instead, it's better to adapt. It could be argued that this is the way the game is supposed to be -- allieds having to make it through the early game and using aggressive tactics to overcome the soviet onslaught. You have no argument from me that Soviets are the OP team, but as I said before -- it's not comparable to how OP yuri is. Yuri is OP and broken, Soviets are OP in a good playstyle difference way. 2) Absolutely no reason to ban France in competitive 1on1s. There's some logic behind banning Yuri, but the community will never agree to it, so it is a very bad philosophical argument to get behind. 3) SW off/on can be faction and map dependent, but once again -- in a QM style atmosphere it is often best to have them turned on. As for your ultimately statement, I think I addressed it mostly reminding you that I am a 9 time rank 1 champion, I do care very much about balance, and I hope to not come off as authoritative (I don't even have an admin/mod position here -- I'm just a poster). I'm curious to know your skill level tho -- what have you accomplished in the 6 months you are here? I've never played you -- so it is an honest question -- how many of the 100 or so maps have you truly played on? I find it difficult to believe that you have acquired a top skill in allied play (or even soviets) in just 6 months, so it is an honest question.

Sorry @Marsh in : https://staging.cnc-comm.com/ladder/10-2017/yr/games/4074 I got a rare inter error that shut my game down. Haven't had one of those since the QM ladder started.
