QM Client Feedback

After QMing for a while I've come up with a few suggestions to improve the QM/Ladder experience.
Please feel free to add to my list in the same clean format. Issue / Suggest solution.

Issue : People force closing game at loading screen because they don't like the map.

Solution #1: When announcing to the player that a match has been found,

  • Clearly display the map that the match will take place on
  • Offer the user a chance to 're-shuffle' re-pick the map randomly by means of a button
  • Allow only limited re-picks (clicks)
  • While showing a notice that it's possible to veto maps that the player doesn't like

Solution #2: When announcing to the player that a match has been found,

  • Display a selection of 5 randomly picked maps shown by map preview thumbnails
  • Offer both players a chance to reject maps from the list
  • Show each player which map has been rejected by darkening the thumbnail or by other visual means
  • Players vote till one map is remaining

Issue : Players disconnecting on purpose to wash the game.

Solution #1: Reducing the re-connection count down timer duration

  • By reducing the timer duration the player will have less time to reconnect to their network
    when purposefully disconnecting and re-connecting.

Solution #2: Applying a competitive cool down to an offending player (temporary bans)

  • If a player reaches a certain number of offences (disconnects) on their ladder profile they get temporarily banned from initiating a match search.
  • Short ban lengths such as 30, 60, 120, 240 minutes doubling with increasing offences up to a 24h ban.
  • Automated system that improves the QM experience in the long run.
  • Allowing staff to set manual temp bans from the admin CP.
  • Bans reset at the end of the month with the ladder.

All suggestions and solutions are great, question is, is solution for #1 feasible?

It's feasible depending entirely of the programmer's skills.
For example when playing Counter-Strike Global Operations on the Faceit competitive network, their client sets up the competitive games similar to official, 5v5 but then the client software randomly picks two team captains who can reject/veto maps until a single map remains, then on-top of that it lets the captains vote/veto on the location of the server to optimize ping times.

So I'm certain that it's feasible, it puts the choice in the competitors hands and allows them to have a fair choice.

@dkeeton

No taskbar / notification area icon while the login form is active, makes it easy to lose the window if multiple apps are open.
Clicking "Ranked Match" a second time causes the main QM client window to open which displays a taskbar item for the client.

Clicking ranked match a 2nd time results in.

Clicking the minimize button causes the client login and main windows to be hidden without being revealed when clicking the respective taskbar item or Alt-tabbing to the respective window(s).

Only the main CnCNet (YR) client is displayed.
