Question

Whenever you run RA2YR (or even TS), can you set the resolution of at least 2560x1600?

If so, do you have a resolution option that increases the 2560 width but not the 1600 height?

Does that option work? How far can you widden the resolution without increasing the height of 1600?

Note: Included MO, TI and DTA because they use the TS/YR engine, and so are included in this question. It's a question of engine limits.

In TS and YR, 3840x2160 is supported. I haven't tested bigger than that. The dimensions in window mode aren't restricted. In full screen mode, you have to use a resolution that your monitor supports. In TS you can edit SUN.INI, YR edit RA2MD.ini,  set ScreenWidth and ScreenHeight and set Video.Windowed=Yes.

That's odd.

Last time I played around with CnCNet (or XWIS or the GAMEMD from TFD for that matter) 1600 was the max height...

Unless it has something to do with fullscreen being limited. But apparently the game can't handle displaying more cameos than the 1600 height allows...

Could you provide a screenie?

That's right, it doesn't work with the unpatched gamemd. Works fine via cncnet mutliplayer though

For some reason 2560x1600 shows 1 more row of cameos (or available cameo containers) than 4096x2160??? That's strange, probably has something to do with the aspect ratio ?. Anyhow, as FunkyFr3sh said, ultra high definition resolutions only work with the CnCNet versions of the games. Here are a few matches played in 4096x2160p...

That wasn't actual gameplay :P

But thanks for the info. I'll see what I can do on my side. Shame I don't have a huge monitor...

There is only limited memory available for the sidebar, if it's getting too big then it will start to overwrite what ever variables are stored after it. That's why he managed to get more icons, it seems to work (it actually doesn't), it's just that it does already overwrite something but it isn't causing a crash. If he would be playing like this then it would probably fail somewhere, maybe some graphical glitches will show up or the game is going out of sync (Could be anything, I don't know what it overwrites).
