, the guy has done lots of interviews and I don't remember which one he talks about resolution, Just some google "Louis Castle interview" if you have a few hours to burn. Joe Bostic is the other main guy from WW: https://www.reddit.com/r/IAmA/comments/19epje/i_am_joe_bostic_22_year_game_developer_11_years/

Another factor that's not being discussed here nor in the other thread is that WW likely made the game to be played at 30fps on a max 640 pixel wide monitor. The low fps make reaction time gaps less important and so it would also make bikes less dominant. With low fps engineer saves become easier and early engineer attacks become harder execute. Having a tiny screen resolution also changes how players choose their army size before attacking, I think Louis Castle talked about that being a factor in game design for cnc.

Controlling massive amounts of units in a laggy game causes recons. You can try to set Frame send rate to 10 in those games and it might not recon. To change frame send rate type in /FRAMESENDRATE 10 in the cncnet game room.
-
It's not likely that anyone is doing recon errors on purpose to prevent losing to you. Do you play a specific map or style of map?
-
You can still see the enemy's side in the ally screen. Hiding the side is just meant to prevent people from disconnecting at the load screen.

I bet you didn't view the linked product.

What other genre of games would benefit more? I can literally think of no other sport that would benefit more from foot-control other than kickboxing.

Only Yuri's Revenge.

"Veteran 1.5" - how does it work and what was the rationale for adding it?
dkeeton replied to f1ref0x's topic in Tiberian Sun
This change exists purely in modified maps that are labeled "Vet 1.6" or "Vet 1.5". It's a modified map that does change the game in both TS and FS mode, but its meant to played in TS mode. -
What username did you use in game? Can you to make a clean install of tiberian sun. Sometimes out of sync can be cause by old or corrupted files.
-
Make sure that you are all on version 3.81 of the CnCNet Client and that none of you has modified files, and lastly make sure you have gamemd-spawn.exe allowed to access the internet through your local antivirus and/or firewall.

The ladder database had to be recovered from a backup from about a week ago. So 7 days of games are gone now. We're working on getting daily backups to prevent a problem like this in the future. Apologies.

In your SUN.INI file add the lines if they don't exist [Options] ;HoverShowHealth=Yes ;MoveToUndeploy=Yes ;DoubleTapInterval=30 ;AddTeamStyle2=No ;ScrollDelay=0 ;SkipScoreScreen=No AltToRally=Yes Semicolon is a comment, remove it to change those options. Explaination of the options: HoverShowHealth controls if, when you hover your mouse over a building do you see the health bar. MoveToUndeploy is the default Tiberian Sun behavior it's already set to Yes by default. Changing it to No would make deployed artillery and tick tanks only undeploy if you are holding down ALT. DoubleTapInterval will center the team if you double tap the control group key (1,2,3, etc). by default double tapping is disabled, to enable it set the value to be some number 0 or above. 30 = 30 frames or about half a second. AddTeamStyle2 changes the behavior of the shift key making shift+group (shift+1,shift+2 etc) become insert the selected units into that control group. Default is disabled. ScrollDelay can help correct players who's mouse scrolls uncomfortably fast. I don't know what are good numbers here, someone with that problem will have to test and report back. SkipScoreScreen obvious. AltToRally is traditional TS rally point behavior, new patch default is No. Change to Yes to get the old way back.

Did you allow the update to run when you started cncnet? You might have an old version. Outside of that you should try some different renderers from the settings menu. TS-DDRAW and narzoul tend to work for a lot of people.

CnCNet is vulnerable to net neutrality: CnCNet uses IRC which is a chat service that may be seen by an ISP as being competition for their approved chat services. Any disruption to IRC would disable CnCNet. CnCNet creates UDP tunnel connections that might look like competing VOIP services or might appear to be P2P file sharing services. Without net-neutrality rules, ISPs will have a pre-chosen Voice service app and a pre-chosen file sharing application that their customers can use exclusively. Removing net neutrality rules would only work in a healthy free market, which we don't have currently in America. In fact it might not even be possible to create a healthy free market in the ISP realm because internet service delivery relies so heavily on last-mile build-out. And last mile build-out is reliant on local right-of-way and every build-out causes more local construction headaches, the result is typically communities wanting to limit construction.
