The only other possible cause for this error that I can think of is that your copy of Tiberian Sun has been modified by either yourself or mods that you have installed in it. I suggest to re-install Tiberian Sun on another folder, but use the installer from the main CnCNet page first before you try any other copies.

What's a 'ticket based system' and how does is work? Why would it be better than the current system? (Can you please explain in terms of CnCNet, because I googled it and me still no understanding)
-
We'll all come back here after EA's online support ends.
-
Has the CnCNet launcher ever worked on this computer before? If it has, have you changed any settings or hardware since then? Make sure that you are running TSMPLauncher.exe 'as an administrator' Also 'disable display scaling...' What screen resolution are you trying to run it in? Set Tiberian Sun's screen resolution to the same resolution as your desktop. Make sure that your graphics card driver is updated. Does 'Windowed' mode work?

Alting in Yuri's Revenge Competitive Games, how effective is it still?
fir3w0rx replied to Grant's topic in CnCNet Ladder
Probably not as effective as using your first tank, but years ago on good ol' Little Big Lake (RA2), I remember getting alted by my enemy's first miner. I lost because it caught me off guard and I didn't know what to do, plus I was too busy laughing . -
Before the auto-ss, pushers could just build several buildings and units (just to have something to show on the ladder stats) then have one person destroy everything while his 'enemy' goes out for a cigarette. With the auto-ss in place, they would actually have to play half decently in order to make the screen shots believable. So although it wouldn't completely prevent it, it will help minimize it. (For those who didn't come from xwis and don't know what the auto-ss is: it is a tool that randomly takes screenshots of each and every ranked game on the xwis server, then uploads them at the end of each match for everyone to see).
-
Auto SS was one of the best additions that Olaf created; most cheats could no longer slip through the cracks. He really should join the staff here. He doesn't even have to shut down xwis as he can work with both servers if he wants... the stubborn man.

Although not perfect (nothing is on initial release), I think this is a step in the right direction, and a long time coming. But maybe a little too many changes too quickly though.

Yeah that cheap $500 game winner can be quite annoying . Not everybody will welcome changes to gameplay itself, but here is a list of ways (contributed to by several good players) that can help deal with engi-rushes: http://xwis.net/forums/index.php/topic/166827-engi-rush-ra2/

His channel name is "RA2 Carrier'? I think he means RA2 Career. He is a very good player. It must be really annoying to have so many blocked websites in China, such as YouTube and many others (unless you live in Macau, Hong Kong or Taiwan).

I refuse to answer questions 2 and 3 because they aren't officially asked by EA (no EA tags) On a serious note, I'd like the technician's potato gun to be upgraded to... I don't know... literally anything else! Even a butter knife is more harmful! In saying that though, if this will actually be a remaster with optional things, then the remaster shouldn't be touched except for audio, visuals and more fps, and for the options... the more the sweeter.

I haven't played much TS online, but I've always thought that on a large map like Terraces, any sort of rush would be easy to defend against because you have a lot of time to prepare before your enemy gets to your base. What are some good ways to defend against a 1-ref-rush anyway; vulcan cannons? Laser turrets? Crush infantry with harvesters? What units will you usually use to rush with Nod?

Can you do a video comparing no miners, just tanks straight away 1 miner then tanks 2 miners then tanks 3 miners then tanks 1 tank then miner (some people cancel their tanks then make miners as soon as they realize the enemy made miners first) I've always wanted to know how many tanks each scenario would produce after, say, 5 minutes? Preferably mining only ore, no gems or oil derricks.

EA should just give up and sell the C&C franchise to Blizzard . They'll make more money doing this, than creating another failed C&C game. Blizzard will then breath new life into our favorite C&C games... these guys know how to do a remaster: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q2zfx5hQ3CE Not to mention the all star line up of games under their banner: Starcraft (remastered), Starcraft 2, Warcraft (1,2 & 3), World of Warcraft, Overwatch, Diablo...

Mine saves but crashes when I try to load it. But when I copy the save file to my original installation of YR, it works. Must be something wrong with the cncnet client's load function.

Are all non symmetrical 3/5/6 player maps destined to be unbalanced?
fir3w0rx replied to chem's topic in C&C Multiplayer Maps
3, 5 and any other map with an odd number of players will be difficult, if not impossible, to balance, but surely there are 6 player (3v3) maps out there that are. But that said, I'm aware that you're talking about TD, but I used to have a lot of fun on a 1v1v1 RA2 map called Canyon Fodder. It was never fair, but always fun . So are they worth making? Yes. You mean The Alamo (RA2)? Yeah I think that's a pretty fair 1v1 map, up until mid-game anyway. But I think I would prefer 2 oil derricks than 1 oil derrick + an airport, especially since this map's oil derricks pump out 2.5x more than the normal ones. -
I've wondered this for a while now, and even more so recently because of all this remakester talk. Even with all the added features: better graphics, huge maps, AI can build bases, and so many more, people still play the original online. Not that there's anything wrong with it, and I'm sure they probably switch between each game from time to time, but I'm just curious. Also, what would need to be changed to encourage you to play DTA, and only DTA? (only referring to online play of course, as single player missions are different in each game).

(At least I make time to post, even though it's a shitpost ) (I also posted this in EA's C&C "Shitposting" Discord channel, I hope they don't get too mad ).

EA Q1 - Is there anything "sacred" you would advise NOT to change in Remaster?
fir3w0rx replied to Grant's topic in C&C Remasters
I have nothing against them or their version of the game(s), but that's just it - THEIR VERSION of the games. There is also nothing wrong with a remake, but I prefer a remaster. Also, if I'm right about EA using their source codes, I think it's unprofessional (not to mention funny) that they can't come up with their own. I think the OpenRA community are the right people to kick-start all this, but the wrong people to ask for opinions regarding how the final product should be. -
Maybe he was firing on his own tanks

EA Q1 - Is there anything "sacred" you would advise NOT to change in Remaster?
fir3w0rx replied to Grant's topic in C&C Remasters
Well, to 'remaster' something, by definition, NOTHING should be changed, only ENHANCED. But since everyone else here is making suggestions (and some not even answering the question ), feel free to go buck wild with additions: more single player missions better modding capabilities more cinematics a replay feature 10-player mode and whatever else you can think of. ***BUT***... please do not change the game-play (game mechanics and overall 'feel' of the game). Oh, and don't lose the source code this time!
