RA Multiplayer Mod - "Tiberian Alert" - by Ferret
fir3w0rx replied to Ferret's topic in RA Multiplayer Maps
The stealth tanx have defective wheels and should be recalled (they only move forward). I think the silos have a hole in the bottom. I've only played single player skirmish, but overall I think it's pretty good. I think rocket tanks mixed with anti-infantry units are pretty deadly. -
Cool. Just out of curiosity, how small/big are these? You should have maybe put your hand or fingers in the photos.
-
Gotta be the craziest game mode ever
-
Looks like fire juggling (but with water ) and making a yin yang pattern.
-
Now that you've completed it all, you should go ahead and try out some of the awesome fan-made mods. There are a few good ones out there but some of the best ones that come to mind are Mental Omega, Dawn of the Tiberium Age and Twisted Insurrection. And there is of course online multiplayer as well.

RA Multiplayer Mod - "Tiberian Alert" - by Ferret
fir3w0rx replied to Ferret's topic in RA Multiplayer Maps
The download link in the first post doesn't work, and I can't find it on moddb. -
That's not why war miners need less refineries, it's because they're patient enough to wait in line to deploy, whereas chrono miners will not even wait for a second and travel to the next nearest available refinery, even if it's at the other end of the map. They'll probably even chrono shift into the next game if they could. I think because chrono miners are paid by the load, while war miners are paid by the hour.

Sorry to be a spelling police but it should be "STATUE of Liberty". I watched the video but was disappointed because I was waiting for the BF . How come it was laggy? It looked like the tanks were moving to the beat! Same. I think a better name for this map would be something like "The Engine of LIberty".

Happily left OpenRA and wish to transfer my work to here
fir3w0rx replied to NerevarII's topic in Modding Discussion
I don't think there will be any problem with you sharing your work here, but honestly out of the hundreds of us here, most of us only know how to play RA (as well as the other C&C games) but have no idea about the internal workings of them (myself included). The number of people that actually do know what goes on behind the pixels... you can probably count them on one hand, maybe two at the most! Ah... yeah sure, of course... hahahaha. Jokes aside, some of the staff can probably fit that description, and the rest aren't too bad I guess. -
I haven't seen it yet, but if I watch it and it's not the 'best battle', or at least close to it, I will unsubscribe! *EDIT - Oh ok nevermind, I thought it was one of your videos. I started watching it then I straight away thought "this can't be you" .

How were you able to record your previous YR videos without the game crashing? Maybe you did something that caused this. Btw Fraps hasn't been updated in god knows how long; there are better recorders out there.

I don't understand; fans can distribute the games... but EA cannot? And how about for profit? If Gruntmods, or anybody else for that matter, were to sell Dune 2k, will they be sued? And by who, Frank Herbert's family? Does someone need to ressurect Westwood in order to sue? I really can't wrap my head around it ?

Re-creating a video game doesn't avoid consequences or override copyright laws. If this was the case, I'd be borrowing money from the bank to re-create every classic I can think of and make millions! I'm not too sure but I think all the rights would have been passed on to Electronic Arts since they bought out Westwood Studios (Dune 2k's developer) years ago. But even so, unless Gruntmods starts making money off of Dune 2k (and I mean a serious amount of money), EA will not bother getting it's legal team to take any sort of action as it's a waste of their time and money.

But more realistically, going by CnCNet's updates over the years which is now up to version 4.07, the version numbers for RA2/YR should also be incremented by +4.07. Therefore the current official versions of each game should be: RA2 v1.006 ==> RA2 v5.076 YR v1.O01 ==> YR v5.071 for multiplayer anyway. Someone should also fix the single player campaigns' bugs and unintentional short-cuts (and make speedrunners mad ) so that the update is complete for both single and multiplayer. I started this reply as a joke, but now I'm kinda serious . (I wanted to stop at the first line but my brain kept going) *EDIT - Maybe version 4.07 actually started from the official version, 1.001, and continued on from it? if so then forget what I just said

infantry units are too underpowered compared to tanks!

Next time throw some engineers in the mix -
Cool. Ah... so, by the end of this experiment, at around 2:10 : 1 oil derrick = 1/3 of a Chrono Miner (harvesting ore) 2 oil derricks = 2/3 of a Chrono Miner (harvesting ore) Not exactly of course but more or less, and also keep in mind that I deducted the initial cash boost given to the player after capturing each oil derrick (-$1000 for 1 derrick, -$2000 for 2 derricks). In conclusion, going by the above two observations;: 3 oil derricks = 3/3 of a Chrono Miner (harvesting ore) Or in other words; 1 Chrono Miner harvests the equivalent amount of ore that 3 oil derricks generate.

Undocumented secret in "Romanov on the run" mission

Those were my 'click-bait' tags, which I don't do anymore because I know how annoying they are now . -
I've always been for balancing/improving original Westwood maps (because WW only knew a fraction of what we know now about the games), but the majority of the RA2YR community has never liked the idea, which is why balances/improvements (although not perfect, but is heading in the right direction imo) have never been made official. Take these two attempts for example (again, not perfect, but people barely even gave them a chance to grow on them): http://xwis.net/forums/index.php/topic/171404-standard-maps-balanced-out/ http://www.blackassassins.org/pisc/map_changes.htm

Undocumented secret in "Romanov on the run" mission

Probably because I put the words "cheat", "hack" and "trainer" as tags in the title of the video . I'm guessing that the people looking for such things were dissapointed to see that the video didn't actually contain such things, while the other... straighty-180-stick-to-the-rules players thought that I was advertising "illegal" activities . -

Haha cool. At first I thought this guy was messing with us , but I can confirm that it's real: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PV6rUuggE1o -
To be honest, it actually looks kind of fun . If they hadn't slapped the words "Command & Conquer" to it, and changed all the "C&C" stuff to something else (especially that junkie-looking Kane ), people wouldn't hate on it so much, imo. Kind of reminds me of RA3; it's a pretty cool game, but doesn't really feel like the previous RA or RA2 games.

Nothing spectacular, but here are a few spectated YR matches in 4k: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KxZ3N7qfs-w https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MUIGLFggEFI https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c_3Q1icME_M
