Awesome idea, but yes could use a bit of work IMO to get the true feel of face down. First, original FD is a 4 player map, so they make it 8 players here, but the overall ore/gems is not scaled up anywhere close to the feel of 4-way face down. I also very much dislike the additional tech buildings, especially airports. Airports make the version less credible IMO.

Land rush there looks quite fun, is land rush only capable for 4 players? I'd imagine it's easily possible to have 8 players on the land rush version? That might be fun sometime :p.
-
Yes that should be correct. If someone wants to be yuri just select Yuri as your faction in the QM menu and you will automatically only get the yuri games.

Well deserved to olaugh and d0wndariv! Great stats and another amazing month for the ladder.

Marko has faced every single challenge thrown his way and has consistently been on top. I don't think it's fair at this point to say the best player in Ra2/YR is not Marko. The only real competition he has is Tomislav as he did what Marko did in the first part of Ra2/Yr's life cycle. Tomi has the case that he did it when 100,000's played the game, but Marko has the case that he did it when the players perfected the game. To me, those 2 players are the only ones you can call the best ever. (Again, with some consideration available for moon3, but such an unknown entity that he can't be put on my list).
-
Probably Marko with his list of credentials. Tomislav, moon3 are popular choices as well. Then you have Latof, Sash, w0nnapl4y, and a number of others as the next very close tier that just don't have as much longevity perhaps as Tomi or Marko. Moon3 gets the recognition for being the chinese god, but admittedly, I can't speak much more of him other then he dominated players when he played against our guys.

Sorry, but I see no problem from Freq's posts here. In fact, if I was the map maker I would be very grateful that someone is going out of their way to detail an error in the map I created. Especially since the map is being posted for the public to criticize and use. I don't think you have a point here outside of trolling this thread (even if you didn't mean to troll it).

d0wndariv is a (very) old school YR (or ra2, I forgot) player (talking somewhere around pre-2003?) who was a top player. This new d0wndariv is Marsh, likely with the name out of honor? I don't know, but to answer Biz's question, "no."

Bravo! Sorry I didn't get around to doing the achievements. My motivation for this game is dieing out. I'm trying to keep myself productive here! With that being said, amazing post and what an incredible month for CNCNet. Is there any thought into starting a top 10/ Hall of fame? I think that would be an incredible incentive to many players who would try to fight there way into a top 10 spot. Anyway, this post needs more recognition somehow! It's stuffed away on the forums and I only now found it :p.

God damn, you guys bicker over the most useless shit! Marko said it best "stop complaining about something as unimportant as seeing opponents nickname." There's been some good points on both sides of the argument clouded with flames and spam. Overall, the poll showed inconclusive results and we can't draw anything from the poll other than the community is divided on this issue. For that reason, status quo should continue, is it really that big of a problem that you can't see who you are playing? I could care less either way.

At this point, it's personal opinion on what is fun and what is not (i.e. I don't have fun facing yuri anymore so I just leave vs yuri games usually, while you don't see this as fun so you don't play in these style of games), but this seems super salty man. Ivan is rarely used by anyone... I applaud those who successfully get an Ivan attack on me to work to their benefit. A seal attack is more deadly, but still takes much more $$$ than an engi rush and takes an AFC to be built... if you can't stop a seal rush, that's usually on you... And as Frequenzy stated, the argument can turn around on you.... is it not boring seeing the traditional dune patrol sov vs sov game? Or the constant same strategy in QM of wait until you get IC then attack? Seems like theres two playstyles here that are apples and oranges and neither should be frowned upon. Now, I'd get it if you were talking about super lamers, like for example my double engi ifv super rush with rockies and grizz in the first 2-3 minutes of a game... that's pretty lame and borderline impossible to stop in some situations... same with an engi walk on some maps... but seals/ivans should not be considered unplayable/lame. Just a different playstyle.

Who is olaugh? https://ladder.cncnet.org/ladder/3-2018/yr/player/olaugh/?page=1 This guy only has one true loss, at the time of me writing this. (He lost points in three games, but 2 of them were 0:03 second duration meaning glitch games). Is that Latof? But he is playing as yuri some games?

Want to expand? It seems like you are hiding some information here.
-
This looks oddly similar to a map on YR, just without the tech buildings. I can't remember the name.
-
Yeah mate -- server seems to be doing it's job as you got the points correctly for the game and he lost correct points.
-
I should probably talk about this in the correct topic... but to answer your question, there is a player base that really wants 'more creative' style maps that involve oil derricks. This has kind of been debated in the map topic thread. If you are strongly opinionated about this, I suggest finding 5 maps that you really disagree with and posing 5 replacements for them and see how the community reacts.
-
Why? This seems to defeat the purpose. The people that do not want it to be shown, do not want their nickname to be known. The people that do want it to be shown, want to see who they are playing. If it is optional, that is precisely where we are now, where each player could chat in the game to see each others name. So 'optional' isn't really a good stance, unless im misinterpreting what you mean.
-
Yup, that's the truth... unfortunately Ra2/YR isn't like the easy to play games of Fortnite/RL/PUBG storming through the gaming world. You have to really love Ra2/YR in 2018 to get good at it. It sounds like you have a small interest tho -- best way is to find a buddy that's a pro on here, team up with them, have some fun and learn the game that way. As far as the barriers -- the way around them is to find 4-7 other people playing consistent games. Get in with them, and then you know you are getting games constantly with no lag. For me, the most fun I had on cncnet was when 7 other players and I were in a lobby together playing for 2-3-4 hours straight just non-stop good games.

What things make the ladder/ranked unappealing?
XXxPrePxX replied to FlyingMustache's topic in Red Alert 2
As far as deadman's go... it's one hell of an allied map IMO and most importantly is a very different map than the typical maps we see. It's balanced and doesn't tend to be an engi-kill fest either, so I think it's a pretty great map choice. Soviets only chance is to get supers/tech units on this map, but that doesn't mean they are at a severe disadvantage... they are still mighty with the IC+Nuke on there if done right, but that map with SW off is super-allied camp map. Face Down as Allies can be very frustrating, I agree... I've seen some great allied builds there, but it's easy for pro's to talk about how FD is OK with allies, but another thing for lower skilled players to try FD as allies against soviets. Not the easiest map to play... but at the same time, I'm not sure that I'd recc. taking it out. -

Is there a reason why you can't do it when SW are on? That is the precise point of our last page of talking. -

It's early... and this is a small sample size... and this may have nothing to do about the SW on/off debate but... There are only two allied players in the top 20.... Vwww at rank 17 and "gg" at rank 20 and Vwww has played half or more of his games as soviets and gg has played half or more of his games as sovs/yuri. So, really can't be called allied players too much. There's 2 yuri players in the top 20. That means there's 16 hardcore soviets, 2 hardcore yuris, and 2 ehhh sometimes allied players. Just for what it's worth. -
My guess is that it is this one: https://ladder.cncnet.org/ladder/3-2018/yr/games/13529 Duration of 5 seconds and a loss.
