EA Q1 - Is there anything "sacred" you would advise NOT to change in Remaster?
Myg replied to Grant's topic in C&C Remasters
Well this is a hard topic. Ideally we would like the preservation of the blood and sweat of the team which initailly designed the game(s). We are nostalgic to the experience we had when it was first out and to change that experience might upset the balance of nostalgia. Although the following might have no effect on that: Bug fixes, new resolution modes, continued compatibility for latest versions of windows, multi-thread support, more modern multiplayer options, maybe a higher quality Art/GFX/sound/Voice/music experience, more hotkeys to name a few. -
Just an update! EA_Jimtern has joined the official CnCNet discord! He is open to input!
-
I dunno X. He is currently entertaining other communities like CNCNZ at the moment but no sign of em around CnCNet yet.

According to: https://www.reddit.com/r/commandandconquer/comments/9nbrfm/cc_update_from_ea/ EA has some plans with the classic games. No ones were specifically mentioned but as you know, any attention is probably good attention.

Have you looked into https://flatpak.org/ ?

What exactly does "Automatic" mean? What kind of processing does it do to identify which renderer is best for the user? (ive been out of the loop for a while)

"The map has a hidden subliminal message. " Is it trees? Cause I can only think of trees when I look at this map, despite them being a mere boundary.

I am a sucker for symmetry.

I'd like to see commentaries/games from you! Always fun to watch.

If you work with un-freeware games you shouldnt be suprised if you get a cease and desist order.

KKnD2: How Many versions Exist? what are the Differences?
Myg replied to MapDesigner's topic in General Discussion
Having played/witnessed both games there is a clear difference. I sometimes think about picking them up again, they were good games. -
It is a way, not a perfect fix, but an attempt. Those kind of setups do have their own downsides.

Looks nice but probably doesnt play that well (not fair). It is very much like some westwood maps. Fairness is a cornerstone of fun.

We got another youtube video that advertises us! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4htEJGk-Om0 ? Maybe we need a thread dedicated to +1s? On a side note I noticed that the CnCNet Youtube channel hasnt had a new video for 4 months!

CnCNet has officially broken the 1000 user barrier! https://cncnet.org/status Thanks to everyone who has helped and continue to help with this project! PS: Mental Omega accounted for half of the user count.

I dont know much about modding here but I do know that for solid gameplay you need an easily recognised "Rock, paper, sissors" arrangement. Does this mod fulfill that criterea?
-
Seeing the future isnt hard but doing something about it is. I think we (the forum) need a special/seperate area for players/etc that have passed (Dedicated to them).
-
Very unique, I hope it plays well.

If you meet a group of grenadiers with an apache aim for the central one first.

I think he just wants more opinions, no harm in that.

I used to use that heli flamer mix and always enjoyed it. I would also drop flamers from chinooks to pressure the enemy even more. Both tacs use excessive amounts of micro.

There are words passing around that Microsoft will eventually drop native 32bit support for its newer operating systems, in time. Just like they did to the 16bit side of the O/S for current Windows builds. If you want to be productive, you can try and make some sort of arrangement to keep C&C95 preserved for a long time to come.

What happens when you change something: "Oh yea, the previous guys made changes, so should we". Goto start of post (and repeat).

Any changes can potentially wreck the game.
