Have to restart game if minimized.

Question

When I play C&C Red Alert 2/Yuri's Revenge, I frequently get a problem in which if the game is minimized (or otherwise not the top window.) and I try to bring it back up, it comes back up as a tiny unresponsive with the sound still playing. I can't make it bigger, and on the off chance that it's still full screen, it's unresponsive to my input and I have to Alt-F4 and start over.
This happens if I click off the screen when I run dual monitor set up, if I click the edge of the screen with one monitor, if I leave my computer for long enough for the computer to turn off the screen, and sometimes at random if Windows decides it needs to be minimized for whatever reason.

I hope this is something I can fix with the right settings, but I haven't found any other settings that work well yet.

Could it work better in a virtual machine?

Game settings:

In-game Resolution: 1600x900

Client Resolution 1280x800 (Recommended)

Detail Level: High

Full Screen Client Checked

Renderer TS-DDraw

Client Theme: Yuri's Revenge Theme

Windowed Mode: Unchecked

Back Buffer...: Unchecked

My system settings and specs:

Screen Resolution: 1920x1080

Second Monitor when used: 1280x1024

OS: Windows 10 Home

RAM: 16 GB
CPU: Intel Core i7-4720HQ

GPU: Nvidia 960m

There is no certain fix for the issue. The only thing you can try is changing the renderer. If you play at your desktop resolution, you can also give borderless windowed mode a try (possibly with a different renderer, TS-DDRAW doesn't tend to handle windowed mode well).

I also use a dual monitor setup btw, to avoid clicking the area of the second monitor I recommend using software that can be used to lock the cursor to one monitor with a hotkey, such as Swap Screen.

I changed renderer to DxWind and this was a solution for me, but game is lagging on huge battles now. If you don't like this solution you can try to disable your windows key (link).

This helped me. DxWind with Windowed mode fixed everything. Thank you. And since leaving the window doesn't crash the game display, I don't have to worry about clicking the edge of the screen or accidentally pressing the windows key.

I am having an issue where the game is installed correctly using wine and loads the game right up to the CNCnet menu for version 5.5 but each time I try to join a game, create a game, play a skirmish or anything past the point of "Launch Game" will immediately kick me back to the menu.
I've been tinkering with it for a while and I'm not sure if its related to the game itself, the CnCNet client, or maybe I made a mistake somewhere along the way.
Any guidance on this would be greatly appreciated and good vibes shall flow forth for your generosity.

Ever since the install of this, the patriot missile base defense towers, for the allied faction dont do anything. They build and then just sit there. Before theyd actually shoot at stuff. The game runs as it should, and doesnt really have any bugs, the only issue is literally the base defense towers.

      Am i missing a file?
